A great question, and I'd love for LEGO to bring one out, but unfortunately a tunnel in a box offers zero playability and in I'm sure in LEGO's eyes is something that can't be marketed. Just like we all know that if they made half a dozen unique carriages to add to the Emerald Night they would sell like hotcakes to all the AFOL's, but how does LEGO sell a single train carriage to a 10 year old boy? Alas This is why we will never see them, and I hope to be proved wrong someday... What we do need are instructions from builders about how to make a tunnel, or other railside building. This is where I find railbricks invaluable for ideas and techniques.

The whole western theme would be a big one that was missed in my dark ages, however after getting the 7740 12V passenger train for Christmas as a boy, I really wish that I stuck with the 12V trains moving onto the 9V era. The problem with growing up in the 80's in Australia meant there were not a lot of stores stocking the high end train sets and there was no such thing as the internet... When town started into the LEGO System reign of terror I don't think you missed much...

How do you pronounce MOC, AFOL?
Outer Rim Trading Co. replied to Hinckley's topic in General LEGO Discussion
But don't "A Doll" and "A Poll" sound exactly the same as each other anyway? MOC as in mock AFOL as in ayfol -
Don't forget, BIG W have the rest of the entire store to draw a profit from, especially from categories like fashion (Woolworths as a whole had a $1billion profit in 2009). If they are only willing to offer a 7.5% discount off RRP do they deserve your money? I remember seeing Grievous at K-Mart for quite a while. When they eventually got down to $50each I picked up a bunch to part out...

I would have thought that having LEGO tell you that over the phone would have been conclusive enough... Done, and done. But thanks for the final plug in the quotes though! The Harry Potter information however was an answer to a question about when they were coming out, it wasn't intended as a "we will be stocking it..." post.

All I can say is wait a few months and it will be released, and it's a non-exclusive item (at least for the independants). RRP is under $40 If anyone from DJ's pulls that line on you ask to speak to the manager. They are obligated to sell the item at the incorrect price or be in breach of the scanning code of practice. DJ's can certainly withdraw the item from sale after the discrepancy has been identified to correct the mistake, but not before your transaction. They have offered a product at a price, you have accepted that price, you have a contract of sale.

This is truly amazing. The detailing and lighting are truly superb. A true work of art!

Looks great so far! If you are still deciding on the anchor chain, I'd vote for K-Mart. It will give you a nicer brick built entrance. Is it possible to create one of those rectangular kiosks to go in the middle of the walkway just in front of the Vodafone stall? How much would rent be to put a little independant LEGO store in there? Also, I think you need a service corridor leading to a security room so your shoppers have somewhere to barricade themselves into when the zombies start to attack!

Balancing Towns with Trainyards
Outer Rim Trading Co. replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ahh, the eternal balance of train vs town. I think I've managed to solve the problem with my tabletop town by adding a second level so the trains can run through tunnels under the main town section. Alas, there is still no room for the beautiful train shed though... -
Love it! And I'll agree, the stain glass window is simple, but effective!

$99.99 is the RRP for Hillside House. I think this is a fair price for this set. Of course, I wont be selling it for that much though... As an online LEGO retailer I asked the question about pricing when the whole PotC vs US and B&N pricing issue was raised a few weeks back. Here is what I was told. Prices for LEGO are set at least 6 months or more before the release of the product. While we are receiving the June releases now, they are already working on their prices for first half and even second half 2012 releases, and these prices are then fixed. Also Australian prices are not based on US prices, but on the location of LEGO's head office: Denmark. For example, let's look at 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge. RRP AUS$199 at S@H. Flip your location to Denmark and the RRP is DKK999. Do a quick conversion and this works out to be AUS$180. Factor in shipping containers and more containers of stock from Denmark to Australia and that's a fair price comparison. If you look at other territories: Czech Republic converts to AUS$180, Euro currency countries converts to $187.90. Of course, flip your location to the US and it's only US$119.99. The question us Aussies shouldn't be asking is why are Australian prices so expensive. What we should be asking is why are US prices so cheap? Finally, as a LEGO retailer it does concern me to see how easy it is for my potential customers to purchase LEGO at a cheaper price overseas than I can buy it for sometimes, and I may be biased, but I'm a firm believer in keeping your LEGO dollars in Australia. Support the independant resellers who sell LEGO because they love it too, not because a book store is looking to make a profit from selling yet another category.

I love the 80's retro design of this, from the blue brick walls and yellow door to the little square room which has no purpose :) But what happened to the instructions and stickers being in a carded bag to prevent damage?
