Review Review: 21103 Back To The Future Time Machine
Leanne replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I picked this up at the weekend from the Stratford Lego store. I was surprised to see it on sale and a staff member told me there had been some confusion over the release date and that once the four boxes they had on the shelf were sold they were not allowed to put any more out until 1st August. Lucky for me I was in London that day! I love the set. It looks so much better in the flesh than the box photos. Now I just need to decide which version to display.- 207 replies

I was surprised to see these out in my local Toys R Us today. Lots of boxes to hunt through! I came away with an almost complete set - accidentally got two gymnasts and missed out on a judo wrestler. I did get four runners to make up a relay team and an extra tennis player to make a doubles team. A lovely set to add to my every growing collection of Olympic memorabilia!

MOC: Townhouse Trio - Butcher, Barber, and Laundromat

I love these! Very inspirational. -
I'll add another 'yes' to purchasing the Fire Brigade. It's a great build, and I was impressed with it once completed. You will only regret not getting it! If you really don't like it I'm sure you would be able to sell it again once it is discontinued.

I decided not to put a fireplace in which is why i didn't include a chimney. I don't like having one without the other! Yeah that is a good point. It might be something I can play with in future. I bought all the bricks new from the Lego website at a total of £135 including delivery. The Design by Me price was over £180. It was great seeing the design come to life - I highly recommend doing it!

Yeah I had noticed that. I kept looking and knew something was missing, but it took me a while to work it out. Tired brain. I'm really pleased with the set. I was going to wait until later in the year to get it, but I had a day spare so drove to Westfield to buy it. 100 mile round trip was a bit silly as I could have bought it from the website and paid shipping costs which would still have been cheaper than petrol and parking, but I got a bit childish and wanted it straight away! A few nice details and an enjoyable build. Much better in real life than the pictures.

This was my favorite set. But closely followed by these two which belonged to my little brother. I was allowed to build them for him, but not play with them. I think it was this ship: And definitely this castle: They SHOULD all be in my parents loft. Fingers crossed.

Building circular stairs in LDD
Leanne replied to alan_muhl's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've have exactly the same problem. I found by changing the angle and zooming in to the part that I wanted to rotate helps. I kept the 1x1 stud on and initially connected it at a 90 degree angle from the plate it was placed on. Clicking on the corner of the plate also seemed to help. -
I'm really tempted by this set - it is lovely. My only concern is that I would like to have an extra passenger car or two, it just looks too short with only one. Where is best to try and get the parts and how easy are they to come by?

Yeah I did think about that. I might put one under the stairs on the ground floor, or perhaps outside in a little shed outside. Alternatively I'm thinking about having public toilets nearby in my eventual town layout, removing the need to have them in the smaller public buildings. Ooh I like that idea.

He loved all the town sets. Although he did have at one point some trains and track which he swapped with a friend for more buildings. He does regret that now. It has been left in the loft for about 15-20 years which is why it is in such a state! The plan is to relocate and clean it in the next couple of years when we move somewhere with enough space. Ideally we will have the room to have the 'old' and 'new' towns, each with a rival football team and ground. That's the dream anyway!

I thought I'd would share the pictures of my boyfriends lego town that is still constructed in his parents loft. Old Lego Town There are a lot of photos of varying quality, I haven't had time to go through them properly. It consists of mainly late 70s-80s lego sets and few things he built himself, such as the football ground (complete with police searching the supporters as they go in). This was the reason I started building lego again! Edit: Adding a selection of photos... I spent most of my lunch hour yesterday feeling up minifigures. I was trying to get the hula girl from the S3 minifigures set, which I eventually did do. It was the last one I needed. I also spent ages trying to help a little boy find the ice hockey player from S4 for a little boy in the shop, but didn't have the same luck.

Here are some pics of my first attempt at my own modular building. I took a lot of inspiration from the Medieval Market Village buildings, as well as a few ideas from the Pet Shop house and creator Hillside House. It was designed using LDD and I ordered the parts on pick a brick. The interior still needs a bit of work, but that is easy enough to play with over time. Any comments will be welcome! The Front The Back Street View Front (with the pet shop guy having a sneaky lunchtime beer...) Street View Back The Bar The Cellar - Inspiration taken from the house in the pet shop set. The floor hinges up to reveal steps down to the cellar where spare barrels are stored. The First Floor - basic interior which I want to improve in future The Roof Bedroom - Complete with stolen furniture from the pet shop apartment. Just to get an idea of how it could look. The Roof when closed.

Hiya, I'm Leanne, a girl, 25 and from the South of England. I've been lurking for a little while, found the site when googling information on the modular pet shop rumours earlier in the year. I keep coming back for the reviews and the mocs and thought I should join in really. I enjoyed Lego from a young age and had a few well loved sets, the Paradisa Stables and some sort of cafe set. I also had fun building my little brothers castle and pirate ship sets which he didn't have the patience to build but still wanted to play with. The sets are all still in my parents loft as they thought they were good toys to keep incase any grandchildren come along, but once I get a house with enough room for a town layout they will be coming with me! I got back into lego thanks to my boyfriend. He still has a massive town layout in his parents loft from when he was young which he is rightly proud of and took me up to have a look. That started to stir my lego building memories and I started getting itchy fingers. We took my boyfriends little boy to a Lego show where I ended up buying the Grand Emporium and that purchase started the ball rolling for both of us. We have since bought most of the current City line, and I was lucky enough to be given the Fire Brigade and Green Grocer for Christmas. The only problem is that we live in a small flat and cannot build our town, so all the lego gets built, taken down again, boxed up and put away in the loft at my boyfriends parents. When we buy a house next year the Lego room will be top priority! We have both started playing with LDD to design buildings for our future town. I have just ordered the bricks for one building and am looking forward to seeing how it will look in real life. I hope to do more buildings in the future, but I tend to lose patience with the LDD when it comes to the fiddly bits, and I have lots of works in progress because of that. I suppose that is quite a detailed introduction, sorry if it is a bit waffly!
