Personally I'm more into the gothic style churches, but I must say that you did a pretty good job on this one.

Sounds fine to me to have my MOC's seperated into different topics :) By the way some extra information to the tractor. The model is based upon an 70's Zetor 4712 tractor.

V-LI-01C Hi, in the past few weeks I've been working on the following model for a friend of mine to give to him as a gift. (Click the image to view larger version) Unfortunatly I haven't been able to make any pictures of the completed model, but luckily I have this design render made in MLCad. The model is actually to big for the city theme, but as this is the closest theme it fits in, I posted it here. In the future you can expect more of my models in this category. In the past I've really been into Technic and Mindstorms, but lately I also started in gathering system bricks and parts in order to do some "standard" brick building as well. I must say that I really start to enjoy it now, and am currently working on several modular building designs.

I agree, that I would love to see Lego produce sets like these. But on the otherhand they would really cost a fortune. My guess would be that if Lego were to produce the car I build as a set, the price will be somewhere around 400€ to 500€, which would mean that it would only be sold in small amounts and to real enthousiasts only. It's a shame though :-$

This is what I bought at LegoWorld in Zwolle 1x 8285 Technic Towtruck 1x 8421 Technic Crane 1x 8272 Technic Snowmobile 1x 3804 Robotics Invention System 2.0 2x Tiny turbo's (8130 and 8131) 2x Geared motor + battery boxes + kabels 1x 8710 (Got this one for free with one of the geared motors :'-) )

I got back last night after being in Zwolle for 7 days (6 public + one day for the set-up of the halls). I think it was a great success, the organisation did a great job and was just perfect. We had a lot of fun and did some crazy things. I really enjoyed it and I'll certainly be there next year. But first my LegoWorld models will travel around for a bit to other events to show them to people that couldn't attend LegoWorld. In a couple of weeks I will start thinking about some new ideas for new MOCs, they will probably be another supercar and one or two Mindstorms based constructions. I also had an invitation from a couple of BeLUG members to join their GBC next year.

I just finished a second MOC. It's a mindstorms powered one, which is a little like a small ball contraption. Have been programming it all night to make it work as it should :-) And it's running for 15 minutes now without any problems :'-) It won't be reveiled till LegoWorld actually open to the public though *sweet*

I'll be there as well with at least my technic supercar and maybe something else as well.

Nice MOC :) But I'm wondering why the images need to be so terribly huge. There's not a single use for it unless you want to have a large printout for on your wall... Sometimes I wished the digital camera manufacturers kept the resolution to 3MP :-$

The project is nearly finished by now. There are a couple of things that need to be finished or improved, but I will need to receive some parts for that, which I expect will be in the coming few days. Anyway, here is a summery of the progress... The beginning (08-Aug-2007): Continuing... (24-Aug-2007): Nearly finished (08-Oct-2007): (You can click the thumbnails to view bigger versions of the photos) For those of you that will be visiting the LegoWorld event in Zwolle (The Netherlands) from 18th of october to 23th of october can see this car in real life, for the first time! P.S. There will be better quality pictures of the car in the near future as soon as I find the time to set up a proper photography setting with good lighting.

[REVIEW] 8275 Bulldozer
Dryw Filtiarn replied to Ickelpete's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I currently own a bulldozer and a dino which allows met to control six motors. Maybe I'm going to try to see if I can create a robotic arm using all of them, so I can create a real multi-axis robot *sweet* -
In my opinion going for a non-internet (read: not a website) solution is a disaster. Having a website which is available for anyone in the world without the requirement of any form of clientsoftware is a must will it successful. Brickshelf is currently one of the reasons people who are in their darkage return to "playing" with Lego again, because they see that a lot of others do so too. When managed properly I think it should be doable to create a website which funds itself. You can get income out of for instance: advertising (google ads), paying members, but also sponsors. When you will look around enough, it will be possible to find a webhoster who will sponsor the site hosting which will reduce the cost a lot. The main issue with many sites like BS is that they are owned and maintained by just a single person. If ever something happens to him/her, the site is doomed to die. My conclusion is that if you want to create an alternative for BS, they way to go is to create a website which is owned and maintained by multiple people, that are "interchangable", this basicly means that you will need multiple people within the same disipline, multiple programmers, multiple serveradmins, etc, so you can ensure reliability and stability at any time if something happens to a person or if someone decides to quit. Regarding the technical sollution, there are several options. The sollution I would personally use is a load-balanced system with dedicated servers located over the world. These servers can be synced every hour or at least a couple of times a day, to make sure that all servers have the same content. Then depending on the location of the visitor you will be able to ensure fast access times with reliable speeds (compared to a single location dedicated hosting situation). By using this method you can also be sure of having backups at any time. Another advantage of above method of hosting is also that it can easily rely on home-based servers (as long as they are on an acceptable internet connection), because the load per server is a lot lower (as long as you set up the load-balancing properly).

Funny creations there :D I've been building a bit with Duplo as well, but that where just creations for my little nephew. Nowadays I occasionally use it to fill up voids in bigger constructions to add some stability :)

[REVIEW] 8275 Bulldozer
Dryw Filtiarn replied to Ickelpete's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I bought the set yesterday at Bart Smit for 135 euro. It's a nice set and it's a pretty fair price considering all the electronics that are the set. I hope we will soon see more of these :'-) -
Regarding above said, let's make this a generic topic then for all cases sites are down. Anyway, Brickshelf is still down as well as Maj.com.

You can be sure of the fact that I will take a whole lot more picture both during the build process as well as when it's finished :) I'll try to keep this topic up to date as long as I'm working on the car. At this point I'm kind of stuck as I'm still waiting for a delivery of parts from TLC (which already takes 2 weeks) *n* Regarding the CLK-LM the GTR and the LM are pretty much equal to eachother the GTR is the predecessor of the LM. The red car on my picture is the CLK-GTR supersport. Regarding the car that flipped during Le Mans '99 was the Mercedes CLK-CLR which is totally uncomparible to the GTR in shape. I think it's a bit uglier even. (The reason why I mentioned the Le Mans car to be GTR is because most people still think it was a GTR ;-) )
-
I'm currently working on a Technic supercar version of the Mercedes CLK-GTR GT-car (well known from Le Mans 24, as the car that has taken off, see: this video After about a month or so of work (in which I have actually only spent a couple of days working on the model) I have finished the chassis pretty much and currently I'm working on the body of the car. The car we are talking about: The result I have gotten to so far: Click to enlarge... Click to enlarge... Note that the front body part (the red part) is only on a temporary fixture and is just to see how I could create the proper shape for the front of the car... Probably there will be updates on the car later this week. (For the people among us who think of going to the Lego World event in Zwolle, The Netherlands in October this year, you can see the car there in real life *sweet* )

Maj.com also appears to be down *n*

Brickshelf indeed appears to be offline. The reason? No clue actually. I hope Kevin didn't actually pull the plug this time 8-|

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
Dryw Filtiarn replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Regarding rare bricks, on some occasions it's possible to order custom orders I heard from some people. But it requires quite huge amounts of parts. If you want a specific part which does not exist in a certain color, you can TLC make produce it. But it will require you to order 1000 parts or so *sweet* (don't ask me for the exact details though :-P ) -
New and exclusive sets at Argos
Dryw Filtiarn replied to andy_0306uk's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Here in the Netherlands I have never seen the truck being more expensive then €24.99 (aprox: $34 or -
I'm still working on my Mercedes CLK-GTR. Progress is good, though not as fast as I would like it to, due to lack of time :( Here's a pic: Click to enlarge...

Community Project: Retrieval of "Lost Images"
Dryw Filtiarn replied to Berry Syedow's topic in Community
There won't be any further progress :) As brickshelf will stay online there is no more need at this time to continue downloading stuff. I do use my scripts to backup some folders I really like just in case somewhere in the future BS does actually go down, but that's not a mentionable amount of downloads :) -
Community Project: Retrieval of "Lost Images"
Dryw Filtiarn replied to Berry Syedow's topic in Community
The end result of my backup processes is as follows: 367.951 files have been downloaded (which is nearly 1/5 of everything that is on BS) which belong to 4562 users and which is a total of 84GB of data :)
