  1. I just want to express how excited I am that I have finally purchased this set today! I've been eyeing it since it was released... Okay, folks, that's all I wanted to say. Ahhh, sooo beautiful...
  2. I saw this on Brickshelf before, and I saved a picture on my computer because it is so nice! I like the bougainvillea flowers among the white and blue motif. Beautiful work!
  3. It's based off the one at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida.
  4. I don't know what happened exactly.... I went to the LEGO store at Anaheim Downtown Disney and expected to buy the pyramid from Pharaoh's Quest. Then I decided I wanted Hogwarts Castle, but there was none. Next thing I noticed, I walked out clutching Diagon Alley (with a free Sensei Wu keychain), giggling like a little kid! Oh yeah, I believe there are 2 sets left--in case anyone wants to get one.
  5. I would think the armor is one of the collectible items, like the helmet and the shield. But then I saw that the armor is also in the submarine set... *shrugs*
  6. The flying mummies remind me of the cartoon series Mummies Alive. Anyone ever heard of it?
  7. I'm currently reading The Sorceress, from the series The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.
  8. Yes, and no.
  9. Tyrant, I meant Clash of the Titans rode off the success of Avatar being in 3D, as you suggested. Other than that, Avatar and Clash of the Titans are very different films, so I agree with you. "Clash of the Titans" -- a remake of a cult-favorite film that was released in 1981 -- was originally not envisioned as a 3D film. But then James Cameron's "Avatar," which also starred Sam Worthington, set box-office records worldwide. The success was based in part on its 3D effects, and Warner Bros. announced the already-completed "Clash of the Titans" would be converted to 3D. "Avatar," however, was filmed using special 3D cameras." http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/movie-talk...-titans-3D.html As for Percy Jackson, I think Hades was still villainous, although not the main antagonist. He showed up at camp in his satanic form and demanded the lightning bolt from Percy. I'm just saying he was portrayed as more "evil" than he deserved. To Sandy, yep, the underworld looked a lot like Dante's Inferno. There was no Cerberus, Elysium, or Fields of Asphodel.
  10. Thanks! Aw, poor Hades, always given the role of the bad guy. Even in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians movie, they replaced Chronos with Hades as the villain.
  11. One reason Clash of the Titans tried to ride off the success of Avatar was that the movie was hastily converted into 3D after the movie-makers saw the success of Avatar. Not surprisingly, people complained about the 3D version... Does anyone know why they called it Clash of the Titans, but there are no Titans at all? I think Olympians make more sense.
  12. I went to Downtown Disney to watch Clash of the Titans. Strolled into the LEGO shop, and the next thing I know I walked out with a big lego bag containing Battle of Alamut... Uh, what just happened?
  13. Yea, the kraken in Clash of the Titans is more true to the Greek version, while the kraken in Pirates of the Caribbean is the Western version. Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie. I thought the trailer looked kind of cheesy, especially with the rock music, but it felt very mythological. The sisters/fates remind me of Pan's Labyrinth, and the desert people... they look like the "Persians" in 300. Clash of the Titans - 300 desert people - people who compare it to the 1980s versoin = epic
  14. The exterior of Hogwarts is solid! I don't understand the gray tiles on the Great Hall though. The dementors look scary, finally. Bellatrix! And Luna looks... loony.
  15. I never bought Cafe Corner, Market Street, Green Grocer, or the Fire Brigate. But maybe I'll get the Grand Emporium... because your video is very convincing! The music fits too. I felt like I'm in a shopping mall.
  16. Wow, hold on, how come the principal's actions represent all of the US? What about the mom and the parents? Are they not Americans either? Just saying...
  17. It's true. The typical Greek helmet (Corinthian) has a slit running from the nose all the way to the chin. The customised ones (by Brickforge?) are more accurate.
  18. Is anyone annoyed by the flimsiness of the tridents? Mine scratch easily when I make my minifigs hold them.
  19. The building in the ad contains too many bulky parts (6 visible turrets + 4 round walls). The chunky architecture reminds me of the Harry Potter sets. On the other hand, the expected set only contains 2 turrets (in a dark orange color that does not distract from the rest of the palace).
  20. Yea, I would go crazy for Ancient Civilization sets. Playmobil has both Roman and Egyptian themes, and the accessories (canopic jars!) look awesome.
  21. The Burrow... I'm hoping for Arthur and Molly Weasley. I would be surprised if they don't include Ginny because if you read the books, you should know her importance. *wink wink* As for George, Fred, Percy, Charlie, and Bill, I doubt they will be included.
  22. Archimedes thought of the idea of using mirrors to burn ships! Strength must bow down to knowledge, muhahaha. But whoever says the theme has to be military? Cultural: An amphitheater with Dionysus and Satyr figures, an oracle with priests and priestesses, a boar and some hunters... But if we are to pick a fighting theme, why not the Trojan war? You have Greek tiremes, princess sacrifices, the sack of Troy, and the Trojan horse itself.
  23. I assume Romans are more popular in Europe because of their history. However, in the States, Romans are barely touched in History class, while Greeks are covered in both History and English. Has anyone read Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? It's like the craze among kids, so I think a Greek mythology line would be a hit.
  24. Kids need an "evil" faction in order to justify the fighting. Black, green, and dragons are archetypes of evil, I guess. Although the goth in me thinks green and black is such a better combination than red and white! Who agrees?!
  25. Besides the brown/orange turrets in 7573, there are no bulky parts. I'm glad they don't use the castle wall pieces. Brick-built!
