  1. I didn't mean to imply that I preferred classic smiles to modern expressions, I also use them both and appreciate the options. I'm just not a fan of the extreme expressions. I find myself lamenting the high percentage of smirks and steely determination when trying to stage a normal morning. But of course my complaint is utterly pointless...I can always change them! I do hear everyone's point about the usefulness of having a range of emotions, especially for narratives. I think for storytelling extreme emotions make a ton of sense. In addition, I absolutely think the time is ripe for a new chapter in Modular faces. The classic faces were never more than a cute nod to the 80's. As an aside, I did have Black Falcons disemboweling Lion Knights when I was a kid, (they always won in my world!) and the smiling faces, while swords separated legs from torso, were hilarious due to their ridiculousness. On the other hand that kept the mood light; I'm not sure expressions of pain commensurate with disembowelment would have made my play more meaningful. But that's another can of worms...
  2. I like a variety of expressions, but I'm not a fan of the many frustrated, angry, serious and hard-working expressions. I hate bad cop, for example. I don't use them in my layouts, my town is too laid back for them I guess. In my opinion, all of the images you chose are a win for the classic smiles.
  3. I'm happy so many people dislike it. Maybe I can buy it without lego selling out on the first day!
  4. This may be one where I try building it as a mirror image. I'm not loving how it looks next to AS, but I never like to display them in order anyways. May try putting the staircase on the right side and displaying it next to BB. Overall I love this set, and I see plenty of interesting building techniques, most notably the new technique to minimize the floor seams and the SNOT facade treatment.
  5. For me PR is the best overall set. I also like BB a lot, though it is often hard to place, being a corner set that doesn’t face the corner. Architecturally PC is up there, though the interioir is not up to modern standards. That doesn’t bother me that much, since once it’s in the layout it’s hard to get inside them anyways. CC looks cool but somehow I don’t love it as much. I think the outer buildings in AS are awesome, but I really don’t like the middle runt of a PR. And the set as a whole looks cramped. Thinking about modding right now...
  6. You can see from this Taj Mahal designer video Jamie identifies himself as the Creator Expert lead designer. https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-creator-taj-mahal-10256-designer-video/ I strongly disagree that TH and PC are the weakest. From an architectural standpoint they are both strong statements imho. PC is a unique model that I always look forward to placing in my layouts. I went out of my way to find TH in the after market, while I avoided PS entirely even at normal retail price, I think it’s boring.
  7. Can you mail those to me? I'd hate to see them go to waste.
  8. How can any color be unsalvageable if you use it in a moc? Any color on its own combined with dark bley or black will look sharp and not clash. I can understand liking some colors more than others, but any realistic city-scape has quite a variety of colors, many more than what are available as Lego elements. I think it's a good exercise to work with colors that may not be favorites, and a great way to use up parts.
