  1. i must say, this is probably the best castle carriage lego has made. None of the older carriages looked as realistic or nice as this one.
  2. You make it sound like it's a massive event where 1 day is not sufficient enough to look at all the displays. hehehe. Do we really need 2 whole days to look at the displays there? LOL I been to things like the Tutankhamun in Melb Museum and Starwars in PowerHouse Museum, and other events in Art Galleries, and you go through the whole thing in a couple of hours max. Unless you are just going to look at the same display again the next day?
  3. Has anyone seen the large town MOC in a display glass at the city TARGET in Melbourne? And the huge Sydney Habour Bridge MOC behind the counter in the city MYER in Sydney? Or the Ned Kelly MOC in the display glass in the city MYER in Melbourne? they are pretty cool.
  4. VIP means you'll be going to the 6:30pm evening session not the normal day time one right?
  5. wow . wow. wow.. omg.. soo good.. all of your Street fighter minifigs are awesome... will you ever sell them?
  6. yes it can !! i have them sitting next to each other on the table, looks great!.. Cant wait till the next set of this calibre to hit the market.
  7. how do you apply for your own MOC to be displayed at this event?
  8. so if you goto the morning session (not the VIP) it is free ?
  9. phew im glad i got my kingdoms windmill set for $80 including postage from bricklink weeks before it arrived on shelves in australia. that leaves me 30-40 bux to spend on other stuff hohoho =)
  10. All Aussies would be familiar with this word "Borders" bookstore hawhawhawhaw. I sense in the near future same will happen to LEGO as more and more people are turning to the internet and purchasing from USA/overseas due to our strong dollar and competitive prices from overseas, local retailers can no longer compete thanks to the lovely internet.
  11. It seems that it's not only LEGO who overprice their products for Australian buyers. Australians tend to pay more from shoes to music to videogames to toys and so on compared to the rest of the world, according to this news article. http://www.smh.com.au/business/aussies-ripped-off-by-retailers-choice-20110527-1f72l.html
  12. Heres an email i got from LEGO regarding the slippery shiny roof slope piece.. Apparently they say it's not a defect or inferior quality, but that it is actually meant to be like that.. "We are so sorry for the inconvenience with the different finishes of your roof tiles. We certainly understand how important it is with models to have the bricks look as similar as possible. We would like to let you know the reason that you have experienced this is that we actually have changed a part of how we produce the roof tile. The roof tile themselves are produced exactly the same way, however we did make an update to the finish that we use on these tiles, that ís why some of the bricks you have received have one finish and some have the other, rather than it being that the quality of the bricks is different." now having read that, i still think it's just a coverup.. as the shiny finish one in itself, even if not compared to the other one, is inferior quality in itself, as the shine isn't spread evenly, and you can always see some sort of U shape on the toof tile, as if it was not painted/sprayed properly kind of look.
  13. it appears that Quality Assurance is not something Lego takes seriously now days, check this new Lego catalogue I picked up from Toys'r'us. The cover: Do you know them all? Yes we know them all but Lego doesn't seem to!! lol Lego thinks Anakin is Obi, and Obi is Anakin !! And it's Han Solo not Hans Solo.....
  14. LOL i saw that head sorter thing at kmart... it's a nice concept, however i have way too many lego to fit into that head .. id need like 10 of them hawhaw
  15. I think it's best described with photos. Pictures speak for themselves on quality issues. Here is the good quality one. (Notice the base is actually smooth) Here is the new bad quality one. (notice the paint/plastic protruding around the edges of the holes, which makes the base bumpy and not smooth.
  16. it's a shame licence has to be current films, if only LEGO did licensing back in the 80s or 90s... then StarTrek and StarGate LEGO sets would of probably been made
  17. i live in a 3rd world country (as far as LEGO is concerned), i don't think it will ever arrive here, so i have bought mine off bricklink =))
  18. i can already sense that this will be a very impressive build !!
  19. has anyone seen the Sydney Habour Bridge built with LEGO at Myer City Store in Sydney?? I wish i could purchase a small scaled version of that!!! i saw on youtube someone showing a video of them walking around the LEGO store, and there was a small model in the glass window of the habour bridge with the Opera house too !!!>. i wonder if LEGO will ever sell them to the public !
  20. Dr Who is some sci fi series?? hahaha might as well do Stargate or Startrek then, where everyone knows them!!!!
  21. just saw the toysrus catalogue.. 20% off all POTC lego .
  22. baseplates arnt just disappearing, the "quality" has gone down hill too!!!.. almost all of those 32x32 xlarge grey baseplates do not have a smooth base, the inward holes you see underneath the baseplate, should all be equal, but all 5 "new" blueish grey 32x32 baseplates i have has got uneven paint with some parts of the baseplates with too much paint making it stick out a bit from the holes. THe older grey colored 32x32 baseplate didnt have this problem.
  23. All aussies, don't bother with the new PoTC sets.. they are such a RIP OFF.. we are paying DOUBLE the price USA people are paying. You can often save $20-$30 by buying from bricklink even with shipping price included.
  24. yeah Canadians don't have it as bad as Australians though, you pay $50 more, we pay $130 more !!!!! :(
  25. I know, LEGO is so expensive here in Australia it is flamingly ridiculous!!!.. I was from Germany as a kid, and bought many Legos there for really cheap prices, but when I moved to Australia, I was put off from buying lego due to their absurb prices, which then coincided with moving into the dark ages. Now days with the power of the internet, we can easily buy from online sources which even including shipping costs is cheaper than grabbing it off a shelf of the retail stores in Australia. I envision it to be game over for Lego in Australia if it's pricing strategy does not change in the near future. Take a look at BOOKS, with major bookstores in Australia such as Borders and Angus&Robertson closing down due to most Aussies now buying books online from USA as it is a fraction of the price that our retailers are selling them for. I also saw the new PoTC sets in Australian retailers, and their pricing is unbelievably crazy. we are paying 100% more than what our USA counterparts are paying for them. In short, we are paying DOUBLE for the same set!!!!! (eg. a pack that costs Aussies US$100 would only cost Americans US$50) !! that is crazy !!!.. i bought some new sets online instead and saved heaps of money !!!!
