I am going to start with minifigures of all themes including the series. I actually just learned what a vignette was, wow I can't wait to show the wife that, she wants to display minifigs in a "cool" way. We both discovered the hobby at the same time, I have always liked legos from when I was a kid but then I gave them all away to a poor boy down the street and now I am getting back into it. I also was wondering what does MOC mean? Also I see a shop mentioned alot on forums called S@H? I know what TRU is but unsure on this one. So a good start for us may be vignettes to display our minis. I will have to make a list and look for a place to buy parts!
