Practise Posting Here!
Poomerio replied to Pandora's topic in New Member Section - PLEASE READ BEFORE STARTING!
Hello :) For some reason I don't have permission to view any member profiles, although I have been inactive for several years so that could be why? Edit: well, I found out why this is -- apparently I don't have 10 posts :O -
Hi guys =] Been experimenting and working with my Lego Trains today. I've managed to use a Lego Datca to create a virtual control box with a stop, start, emergency stop and shut down button, which don't need explaining as to what they do. So anyways; for you train guys. Do you use "ballast" to brighten up your layout? And how do you do it? On curves, namely. I've just ordered more bricks from PaB on S@H, which should be here soon, so that got me back into the trains. Thanks, - Poomie

Oh snap, possibly no more roles for Poomie. /me wonders if I could somehow switch laces with Hinckley, Sinner, or maybe even.. *shifts eyes* Sir Dillon Well, let me know if I'm in ^.^ :-P - Poomie

Well more weight to improve traction is something I've known about, but I never really thought about it improving traction on a lego train =] And thanks for the link; that's a great layout *wub* - Poomie

Wouldn't the weight of the engine/car that the motor is underneath, affect its' performance? Lighter cars would possibly put less strain on the motor, as opposed to a heavy engine like the Santa Fe? - Poomie
-
Seems logical, having the slowest ones towards the rear. By experience of things in general, I would say that it is easier to push as opposed to pull. But wouldn't having more than 1 motor on a track slow all of the motors down anyway? Since they'd be sharing the current, thus giving each motor less power than if only one motor was present? - Poomie
-
What I plan on doing, is having the "A" unit motorized, as well as the front wheels of the baggage car (#10020?), as well as the rear wheels of the rearest car, which would be the observation car. That way, it'll have pushing power, and double the pulling power. - Poomie

Well I bought a large, 27 litre tub from Tesco. All of my LEGO gets sorted by type, and by colour. They're then put into ziploc bags and stored in the 27 litre tub =] When I have time, I'm going to label each bag and maybe even redo my sorting system. - Poomie

It isn't that expensive. I've started with nothing after my "dark ages", and I've been coping with the prices of LEGO :-) Just save up some cash, and then buy some LEGO. That's what I do. - Poomie

Whack-a-Fig Contest Semi-Final Round 2
Poomerio replied to Hinckley's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Huzzah for my entry with 1 vote. I'm guessing that either PaulC or optimus-convoy will win the Semi-Final Round 2. Contests ON! - Poomie -
Well brickshelf is great for inspirational ideas, so I advise you check it out :-) - Poomie

Great review. I hope you mini-self is OK after all of that LEGO burying him :-D This is one of the great sets that LEGO has produced, since forever. I think more sets like this should be manufactured *wub* - Poomie
-
Congratulations PaulC. Too bad you didn't win, UniqueBuilder; I really liked your firehouse. Paul, you should make some more modular cars, great job *wub* - Poomie

"Yep, Poomie, it definately needs a second garage, even if you didn't have enough bricks to make it, so you just used what you have avaliavble." That sums it up; why I only built one garage, and why it's so small. I only have the 7945 and a few red bricks to work with when building myself a station. I'll look around on brickshelf for some ideas, and maybe I could buy some bricks from S@H, Ebay and maybe Bricklink. - Poomie
-
Thanks Hinckley :-) Yeah, the fire trucks in 7945 aren't enclosed. They just have a roof over the "garage". Clavin: I just didn't have enough pieces to have white corner stones on both sides, but I didn't think to take out the ones on the left >.< I'll play around with my MODed 7945 a little more, and I should be able to post pictures of it soon. - Poomie
-
Well, many a constructive criticism. Well I rebuilt #7945 and then MODed that. I am rather happy with the result; I'll get pictures ASAP. - Poomie
-
Yes and double yes. I just don't understand why Lego stop great sets and themes. A relaunch would be just crazily cool; and to relaunch some more discontinued sets would be fantastic too. Fabuland on! *wub* - Poomie
-
Well I was inspired by the #7945 firestation, so I MODed it, and it looks so much better. I hope to post pics soon. - Poomie

The link's on the factory item page. http://us.factory.lego.com/file.aspx?id=25...6b-d2ec2c4a1f53 - Poomie

Well I had a look at this, and I have a few suggestions for you: - Finish building the outer walls - You've created the cinema all the way up to the edge of the baseplate, so there isn't any room to add wallas to the edge of it. They're the 2 things I saw that needed fixing, but, other than that, it's pretty good. - Poomie
-
I don't know what it is, but I seem to have hit a builders block. I'm trying to design a new firehouse, but all my ideas come up as duds, and now I've run out of 'em. Well, maybe I'm just having a bad day. Any tips, perhaps? - Poomie
-
Yeah, I know about the lack of details. I'm going to be tweaking it some more soon. And yes, it is only supposed to be a small station for a handful of firefighters ^^ My first MOC, mind. - Poomie
-
Hi guys. I've spent all day building and rebuilding my firehouse. I've come up with something I'm happy with, and I think it looks pretty good :-) Sorry about the pictures; they were taken in a bit of a rush >.< (Clickie for album, when moderated.) Hope you like it too ^^ - Poomie
-
Oh yeah, that's so true. All the small details. Yum! I've almost finished building a new firehouse, and when the SF runs behind it, it will look sweet! *wub* :'-) - Poomie
