Product Review: BrickForge Centaurs
Armothe replied to Cygnet's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks for the review Cygnet - and the discussion that ensued! It's always neat to peek in on what our customers think of our new products. It's funny that someone posted my Centaur custom from a few years back because this is the exact reason we decided to make a custom minifig-compatible Centaur body in the first place. Just to clue you in - that custom fig required superglue; so I'm afraid it's not that simple for others to replicate . And just like a large portion of our other products we received an overwhelming amount of requests and support for such a piece - no matter how mundane others feel about it. It's no wonder that we already sold over 1,100 in three weeks. The price (of our product) doesn't appear to be an issue for most people. Someone mentioned that for the price MegaBloks is a better value. I would agree with that; heck, that's what their business model is built around. Families who find LEGO too expensive generally turn to MegaBloks or BestLock. BrickForge, however; is for those with discerning taste. We don't try to undercut LEGO to be competitive - we strive to work with existing LEGO product - and in some cases push TLG to do a better job. It's no wonder why they use our pieces for internal product development, promotional materials and even similar accessories for sets and collectible minifigs. I also want to correct the notion that our products are made from a different plastic material than LEGO. They are both made from ABS plastic. In some cases you will notice a slight difference in tint or surface finish but I'll guarantee you can find the same disparity in LEGO bricks (those who have put a 1x2 in a LEGO Cow know what I mean). The only real solution is to inject our products using ground up and melted LEGO bricks - and we simply have to much respect for LEGO to do that As one with a business degree I could spend all day chatting about the myths and realities of Supply & Demand economics but I dread hijacking the topic Cygnet posted - and taking away from his hard work. Instead I invite those who already haven't to join up at the BF Forum where we are more than happy to address additional concerns regarding the Centaur or our other accessories. Thanks again, Cygnet! -A -
Would love to see these redrawn as vector art and applied! -A

Not a matter of popularity. It's a matter of logistics. Very few people have been able to construct a minifig-scale Centaur out of existing LEGO bricks (including us!). We felt it was our duty to fabricate a solution. Besides, we had to come up with the next best item for LEGO to drool over and send to their design crew. Demand Volume. Not enough of it for LEGO to profit. Plenty of it for BF to keep chuggin' along. 300 sold at BrickFair indicate a positive debut! -A

I doubt we'll see a Rum Bottle made by TLG...or anything related to alcohol for that matter. Another good reason why I don't work for them. -A

Certainly by now you aren't surprised -A

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Armothe replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Of course they are. LEGO is finally waking up to the fact that people want tons and tons of minifig accessories, not the same recycled parts we got during the late 90's early 2000's. They also realize that people want to actually afford the accessories; not have to obtain them by shelling out $40.00 a set. Just as a comparison BF Viking Helmet - 2003 vs. LEGO Vikings 2005 BF Dwarf Beard/Helmet - 2003, 2008 respectively vs. LEGO Dwarven Mine 2007 BF Cow - 2007 vs. LEGO Cow 2009 BF Pig - 2007 vs. LEGO Pig 2010 BF Military Helmet - 2006 vs. LEGO Military Helmet 2009 BF Greek Helmet - 2003 vs. LEGO Greek 2010 BF Great Helmet - 2006 vs. LEGO Great Helmet 2010 BF Arabian Helmet - 2008 vs. LEGO Arabian Helmet 2010 BF MegaGun - 2008 vs. LEGO Space Gun (as seen on white astronaut) 2010 BF Centurion Helmet 2008 vs. LEGO Centurion Helmet (as seen on new 'promotional game) flyer. You guys can draw your own conclusions. -A -

Lots of new items from BrickForge
Armothe replied to LuxorV's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Okay okay, so Silver would be a better choice. But in my defense there were orcs around shortly after. -A -
Unfortunately we are only offering the Dark Green Berets w/ the Badge Print at this time. A pencil eraser will take the design right off, or you could simply turn the Beret 180 degrees. -A

BrickForge will be releasing a white-on-black Pauldron in the not-to-distant future. -A -
Brickforge - opinions? Thoughts?
Armothe replied to Commander Assassin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Well, until LEGO gives up their recipe we'll continue to be at 99% match. We offer something like 20 different colors, which is exponentially more than any other custom vendor - so I'm not sure who you are comparing us to. Also, shoot me an e-mail and I can replace the armor. -A -
Congrats Winners! If you haven't already signed up with an account at the BrickForge store, please do so first. Then go ahead and PM me your BF store account username and e-mail address. Those who won multiple times will have their gift card amount compounded on top of eachother. -A

Custom Final Fantasy X-2 figures
Armothe replied to Morgan19's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
This is a very effective way of previwing your minifigs - great work! And the designs are truly top-notch. I'm a big fan of adding gradients/shading so I naturally love these minifigs of yours. -A -
Snake, That's a really good design. Very clean and LEGOesque. I think making the belt slightly wider and the mechanical pieces towards the sides a bit larger will really set it off once its printed. Great work! -Armothe
