I'm hoping it will go as low as AUD150, which is how much I paid for the other modulars via amazon. -

To save time for those looking for LOTR sets, all sold out at MYER Sydney and may be restocked next week. Which will be too late for the buy 2 get 1 free promotion. :P -
This reminds me of an weekend episode of Wongfu Productions - they purchased 3 star wars 8085 sets to have a building competition only to find out when they got home, one set had empty bags and a full bag or something.

Exactly - people complaining about the pricing may not have looked at the other 1000 things that are being sold with a massive markup. I.e. electronics/clothing. It's fair enough to complain if LEGO was the only thing sold at a higher price and if other factors were equal like minimum wage/cost of living. Check out Asian countries where everything is cheaper compared to Australia but also note their lack of social security, pension, health benefits from the government, working standards and political freedom that that we take for granted. There's always a price to pay for living in each country, I'm happy to keep living in OZ (became a citizen in 2011) and understand the pricing for the things we buy.

I value and enjoy the universal health care we have here in OZ ,sure there are some problems but better than the states :)

Finally, a logical response to the pricing of LEGO in Australia. I understand the pricing of LEGO in Australia but its not something I would complain to TLG. Should LEGO (or any other business) change their business pricing structure according to the fluctuating currency rates for each country LEGO is sold on a yearly or monthly basis? Remember LEGO sets are a luxury product (not a need)- it's a privilege we can enjoy it and not a right.

I hope you used the tracking shipping method, which is 8 dollars more i think... I have ordered from B&N before and if you don't receive any items, they will refund you the money. I ordered 3 items but only got 2, they refunded me the cost of 3 items anyway, which was nice of them. :) -
Just an update: I ordered the 10220 VW Volkswagen T1 Camper Van but changed my mind about it (it was an impulsive buy and I've gone over my LEGO budget already) I've ordered 2 of them and willing to sell both. They haven't arrived yet, but should be here within the next 2 weeks, message me if you are interested. * 10220 VW Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 10220 Brand New and Sealed for $170 - I local prefer pick up otherwise buyer will pay for shipping.

I got my items from B&N . Ordered on the 31 August and was delivered on the 5th via DHL Express (to Sydney) ... totally worth it. Came in mint condition. Unlike the previous sets i ordered from B&N via priority mail, came slightly squashed and compressed on the sides. -

What's the condition like for those clearance sets? I should really go to Big W more often. Nice deal that you picked up. -

I've scanned non LEGO items at TARGET before and there are days it comes way before the price tag on the shelf, like 70% of the price. Scanned a scrapbook album that had price tag of $20 but after scanning it came up at $5. This was at Parramatta Target. I wonder if its a store glitch... Perhaps i should start scanning every LEGO set and hope it the price comes up below shelf price? :P -
In Australia those 'discrete rose coloured' shops stand out a lot. hah

Can i ask with Bricklink store you bought yours from? I called up DJ's regards to the modular sets and they asked that I call back end of September to find out if they will stock it or not... anyone know what would the retail price at DJ's for the modular sets be?? -
It's refreshing to here a different angle on the LEGO hobby and even LEGo has a serious side to it. I think LEGO is healthy, but its the way we treat it that can make it unhealthy for us or the people around us. Its similar to any other hobby which can get too out of hand and lead to unhelpful situations, like you mentioned, avoiding people or using LEGO as a way to hide or not deal with problems. Personally I just got into it and have been too carried away, especially with buying so many sets so quickly... I am thinking now that I will buy sets to invest in and sell (after i build it) for me, I like to build by following the instructions more than free building (there are times i prefer to free build than follow instructions as well). I admit my husband finds i have spent too much money on sets, but now because i am buying and selling, so in turn the profits i make, make it better since i will be selling the sets after i build away... i actually make money or at least break even and can still continue to play with LEGO - I hope that made sense. This post is really good timing as i have been struggling to keep the LEGO hobby in control, and i do feel the LEGO hobby (looking at sets, researching which ones to buy, watching reviews and looking at other peoples creations) has taken away too much of my time and has too much priority over things like even sleeping... i stay up late doing all this lego stuff and i get tired the next day for work and at work, i look at LEGO related stuff again - actually its slowly sucking the joy of LEGO itself! so i must be cautious... i dont know how other people see their LEGO hobby.... There was a similar topic about 'how open you are about LEGO to other people' - i dont know about other people - but for me, living as a Christian, i found many parallels between the AFOL and Christians... ie. the fear of judgement from others, people wont understand it, dont want to be labeled at work by coworkers... (let me say there are also some contrasts!) and now this topic, that it can be unhealthy...YES it can be unhealthy.... there is more to life than what we see, hear and experience. Sorry if this has come off as 'religious' - but i shouldn't have to feel fear of being judged by what i truly believe and hide it. (trust me, i have read that some AFOL here hide their LEGO hobby for fear of being seen as immature or 'weird'...and i too feel that way sometimes - but being a Christian - I shouldn't be hiding who i am)

i've been missing several parts from my sets and its just to easy to claim a missing part, received the missing part within 2 weeks. I had a damaged part with the race car driver from the minifigure series, the visor wasn't molded properly, so i sent them an email if i could get a replacement part for it, turns out that wasn't possible, so they offered to send me either a randomly picked minifigure or a keychain of my choice. I went with the keychain! I admire they're boldness to trust their customers - I just hope it doesn't get abused, as these things (getting anything for free) usually are. @ Roger Rabbit - I found my 'missing' piece too, ah felt bad... turned out it was stuck in the plastic bag.

I've just started getting back into LEGO at the ripe old age of 28. Had previous LEGO sets before but were bought by my parents. Oldest set i have is 6521 Emergency Repair Truck from 1987. Really got into it with a sizable damage to the wallet. Bought 10217 Diagon Alley, 10197 Fire Brigade,4738 Hagrids Hut,4840 The Burrow,5771 Hillside House,5766 Log Cabin, 5891 Apple Tree House, minifigures series 2 to 5 all since the LEGO bug hit in March 2011. ( I think im trying to make up for lost time spent with LEGO) Really should pace myself with the purchases now. haha :D Challenging myself to make alternate builds with only pieces from a set. At the moment, its the Log Cabin.
