with an emerald night with power functions on the purchase, i decided i really wanted to do something with the one i bought for my 18th birthday. i wanted to originally make the locomotive a tank engine of some description but after some work in ldd, i'd need to spend more than what i could afford, so after some tinkering i realised i could get the boiler smaller. 10194 Alternative (mugen) and from there i headed down the victorian path to a D3-looking steamer. i hope to display her at Queenscliffe bricks this month, hopefully with some decals :)

Problem starting LDD today
mikka says replied to Kazz's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
wow and to think i blamed this ALL on my laptop, thanks guys for the updates, it's nice to have LDD running again so i can mock up ideas... :) -
im gonna go out on a limb and say that i'd love to see a locomotive hauled passenger train for once, every main passenger set since the late 1980's has be some sort of high speed passenger train. and i feel it'd be nice to have something different for a change, even if there's a control panel in one of the coaches to make it a push-pull set, i'd be fine with that. and i'td be nice to be able to change locomotives between passenger and goods sets without looking utterly ridiculous. just my 2 cents ;)

brickhead, just wow, it seriously reminds me of a lego set. and what just makes it so appealing are the new round 1x1 plates.....and the colour wraps it up into a nice bow.....amazing

LEGO Festival of Play: 50 years in Australia!
mikka says replied to Siegfried's topic in General LEGO Discussion
love the creations made by the afols, seeing them at BV, i know who made em ;) lego has come such a long way...im happy to be able to celebrate the half-centry of lego in Oz.. ^^ -
i'd love to buy a 7710 and add some power functions to a motorised wagon. i'll just have to wait and see what this year brings... ;)
-
you can never go too far carl, you only set the bar higher...
-
i think the thing that really let me on was the date. i know that somehow there's those "too good to be true" moments around the start of april (being an april fool, by birth). so i think i would have not thought about it twice otherwise.... but yet again, roaming studio, you've done a great mod towards the 7740 and really captures the essence of the 12v train line :)
-
if you'd done it fully legit, im sure you would have had us fooled for a good month. not to mention that awkward, new-found fame when 7812 made it onto the eurobricks frontpage....heh but as always, looks grand, shame TLG didnt do an observation car till the 2000's...ah well
-
the fact no-one has seen this set....i'd say it's pretty rare looks good though EDIT. wait, wait, wait.....april fools?
-
i was thinking to incorporate a siding on a layout and instead of an incline, an elevator that connects all levels. in the length of your standard train size... say a loco and 4 cars. it just means you need to make sure trains dont head onto the siding while its in use ;)

where are the metal wheels from?, i thought these would be fantastic to 9v-ify an emerald night, and keep the pf lge motor...
-
i really do like those bogie coaches, a mix between british and german, simply delightful :)
-
FFFFFarrrrr out..... Carl, youre creations are fantastic, but youre making us novice builders feel bad XD
-
yes, they are from the exactly same mould. i dont see it feasable to fit PF to it, without copious amounts of modification.
-
just showed my mother, and she honestly said she couldnt beleive it was lego, its fantastic carl, you've raised the bar even higher...its hard to comprehend the amount of effort and thought invested into this model. simply amazing.
-
now i dont see how you could fit a power functions XL motor into the boiler and..... pretty awesome mr mathis :)

Could this be a new "golden age" of LEGO train?
mikka says replied to DaddyDeuce's topic in LEGO Train Tech
anyone say a PF-metroliner?, oh yes... -
congrats man, im hoping to break even and try and obtain some older designs, unfortunately seeing as a certain 7750 is Waaaaaaaaaay... out of my price range, im planning to just get parts from bricklink and make do with cheaper items that are more readily available, not to mention PF-ing the engine. but wow, ive gawked at the metroliner for too long also....must try and snap one up.... thanks for the reminder ;)
-
im sorry if this comes off a little bit rude, but why are you posting in threads that have not been posted since the 29th of june in 2010? it just seems to be a little pointless commenting on a review which has not seen on page 1 for more than a year....

Are LEGO Trains Classed as "Real" Model Trains?
mikka says replied to Paul B Technic's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You want a good argument that L gauge can be considered a model train scale. Get them to look at Carl Geartrix's work. Totally justifiable. -
just the simple type. :)

Try Majhost or Brickshelf, both are relatives and your userame can be used on both sites. JPEG's from there (under the EB guidlines' size) work extremely well. either that or email a member to add it for you

Thats a very convincing mod :D hows the casing standing up to the wear of the spinning of the wheel, i'd be particularaly interested to know as im thinking of making a 12v stlye train with PF in it. 7755...i think... cheers :)
