Not a chance, either due to the current incumbent (TLG goes out of their way to avoid controversy, whether religious or political) or from an architectural standpoint - there’s been two sets already, the first (rudimentary) in 2010, and the last being released in June 2020, just a few months before you know who got relieved of his job. Why would you want another WH anyway? Last one pretty much scratched that itch if you wanted it. Next year’s set (1st June 2026) is already locked in. La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona Released to coincide with the official opening of the main structure and central tower. Plus 2026 is also the centenary of Gaudi’s death, and there’s a series of events around this milestone. Thankfully, NDdeP already paved the way for this type of religious building, known equally for being a global architectural symbol as much as a place of worship. Worth noting that set was also released to coincide with the reopening/restoration in 2024 after the devastating fire.

How about re-enacting the Castle escape scene from Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade

Interesting and a nice colour palette even if it looks like a remake (in size and scale) of the Harry Potter Castle & Grounds set, with the welcome addition of a built up “baseplate” that replicates the look of some vintage sets (which probably accounts for the extra 800 pcs). That price tag though. Ouch. 269€ is very hard to justify.

No that’s much more detailed at just under 7500 pcs but posted to given an idea of possible layout/design. Think Himeji scale just built up more with the castle itself rather than the surrounding landscape.

I’d love to know the numbers as they must be absolutely raking it in for them to still be on inventory after 8 years! Struggle to think of any LEGO set (not theme) that’s as immortal? Maybe that cash is what helped TLG realise there was serious money being left on the table with the Architecture theme (when it seemed like it was finished) that also neatly aligned with the “Adults Welcome” marketing strategy, which has allowed them to subsidise recent “niche” sets like Himeji, Notre Dame and Trevi 2.0. Stores aside, I always see these piled high at respective airport duty-free shops, the ideal impulse buy maybe?

Sadly we all know that’s never going to happen with LEGO pricing being what it is these days, and especially an 18+ theme like this. However, these sets usually go on discount at the usual big online suspects, anywhere from 10-30% off within a few months, so there’s always that option. Unrelated but I do wonder why there’s still 3 old Skyline sets still officially available/not retired. London, Paris and NYC, which have been out since what, 2016-ish?

Really appreciate the excellent summary review Tom, and very jealous of the early access! Can’t really understand the “yawn, another remake” complaints when it’s such an obvious upgrade (in all aspects) of an already standout set from the old days of the theme. The money shot (old set alongside new set) speaks volumes, literally.

Looks like we’re getting 2 sets this year… Fontana di Trevi 21062 (1880 pcs) released March 1 - €149.99/£129.99/$159.99 TBC 21063 (likely Aug 1) admittedly might fall under the CE/Icons theme

First thought…is that real/legit? Second thought…architectural details are MUCH improved on original set (one of my favourites and first of theme I bought at the time), and minifigs instead of microfigs. Third thought…is there a release date mentioned? Fourth/final thought…what else is lurking in this Finnish catalog? 😀

When was the last Skyline? Singapore in 2022? Feel that’s the end of the subtheme, and not before time. Smaller set could be something contemporary like the new Guggenheim in Dubai opening next year. As for the larger set, given the release of Notre Dame, there’s no longer any internal barrier to make something like Angkor Wat or Hagia Sophia. Also think we’ll see another Catholic icon, Sagrada Familia in 2026, aligned with its completion date.
