  1. I was having a quick look at this last night. When you find a set you want to build and it says, for instance, you have 98% of the parts...does the site let you know anywhere which sets you have the parts in? e.g. 17 pieces from 6214 (list of pieces), 41 pieces from 7291 (list of pieces) etc. Or is it a case of, 'You have these somewhere in your collection, they could be anywhere, get digging?' I got quite excited seeing what I *could* build but I don't want to take apart some of my models (and/or, I don't mind taking apart some of my models if I knew which ones I had to break down...but I wouldn't want to take apart Tower Bridge for 6 bricks, for instance - so if I had a way of knowing which bricks were required from which set, that would be really useful).
  2. 30-40%. It used to be in the high 90% range (I had a couple of tiny impulse racing cars) but ever since I came out of my dark ages, I've gone a bit Lego crazy and although I have more Pirates than any other theme, they aren't the be all and end all of Lego like they used to be!
  3. I'm desperately trying to remember what else was on the back of it...most of the interiors seemed to revolve around the married couple, e.g. the groom paying for something, them having their photograph taken inside, the bride throwing the bouquet, the mayor giving a speech, two kids in the mayor's office. The third floor is all one room (bar the elevator shaft) with a big table in it, and there's two big glass skylights on the roof behind the bell. That's all I can remember now. Edit: That's it!
  4. I was in a small toy store with a friend who knew the manager, and the manager was talking about their new shipment of Lego. He showed us the box when we got talking about how into Lego I was, but he isn't allowed to sell it to us yet.
  5. I've seen the back of the packaging; I'm not referring to the small image of the reverse of the model on the front of the packaging...I'm on about the actual back of the box, with all of the small images of the interior. There is an elevator, with "movement" arrows. There's also a "movement" arrow to show that it joins to another modular, for instance.
  6. There is an elevator - I've seen the back of the set - and it has arrows on it too, indicating that it moves.
  7. I think scalping is when there's a limited supply of something, and you're buying it not for the enjoyment of the item but to sell it on. A good example of this would be concert tickets - if there's only 500 seats in an exclusive acoustic concert by a big name star, and you buy up 100 of them with the intention to sell them on at double the price, then you've ripped off a bunch of fans who could've bought them at the original price if you'd given them the chance. If Lego continues to produce sets, and you want to buy 100 of them to invest, I don't see a problem...because as long as someone else can still buy the set after you've hoarded a bunch of them, that's no big deal - your action hasn't harmed anyone else. Where I get uneasy is when people greedily grab a tonne of polybags during "free" promotions with newspapers, or take 10 sale items off the shelf. With the newspapers, I think it's pretty outrageous when you know of other people who miss out. I can sort of understand someone taking advantage of a good sale offer, but it seems a bit sad that someone might really want to build a set and a reduction puts it in their price range...but they miss out because an investor came along 5 minutes earlier and bought the whole shelf because it would return them a good profit. But then, we live in a capitalist society, I suppose...
  8. The parrot is brill, as is the water - and I like the foliage on the tree too.
  9. Brill work - I like the Christmas lights and the stonework up the chimney. The crossover of the logs at the corners is nice too.
  10. I found Eldorado a more fun build than the Trading Post - definitely a set worth getting, in my opinion!

    Pirates 2

Wow, the scale of it is awesome!
  12. This is absolutely wonderful. The level of detail is fantastic - and this is a huge build, so that's no mean feat! I could look at this for ages...amazing work!
  13. I placed my first ever order with Amazon.fr on Friday evening, and I received both of my parcels today. You can't argue with that sort of speed - and both of the packages had been carefully looked after. I had never seriously considered ordering internationally before (particularly as my grasp of European languages isn't fantastic!) but I will definitely do so again following this sort of experience (a near £30 saving over two sets).
  14. Beautiful work. I love the whole construction of the doorway - the arch over it, the brickwork by the steps, the lights etc - all the parts of it are excellent. I like the dorma window in the attic, and I really like the touch of the flowers. I love the ridged edge of the building too - looks brilliant! Good job on the interior too, particularly with the bed and sofas and lights...it's nice and homely. I also really like the solid windows above the second floor open windows, and the tan detailing above those...and that's not to mention the lattice work on the roof. Awesome.
  15. I know that it's not always appreciated when people bump topics, BUT I saw your signature on another post and realised that you were the guy I'd come across on Flickr. I am absolutely 100% holding you responsible for getting me into Lego trains. Your London Underground creations are my favourite MOCs - the attention to detail is fantastic, and I couldn't believe the curved wall in one of your other sets (and thank you for including the picture to show how you'd created the effect). I really enjoy your work and I can't wait to see more.
  16. I know it was a while ago, but that green and black building with the grey stairs looks like it's going to be awesome.
  17. It looks great - you've got some nice detailing (such as the slates on the roof, and the greenery growing up the side of the building), and I really love the stables too. I also like the action shot of the minifigure kneeling at work.
  18. Gosh, what a brilliant structure! The woodwork on this is fabulous.
  19. What a quirky use for your microfigures! A city that's fairly local to me has figure carvings in the wood (although most people don't look up and notice them) so that made a nice detail that I'm familiar with in real life. I like the greys used in your castle wall and the rock part of your landscaping is nicely done. I like the cobbled street too; I know it's an effect used in lots of MOCs, but it really works. I think the red/white building is probably my favourite; I quite like the blue and yellow but the roof throws me a little with that one. I like the fruit hanging from the trees, and also the detailing on the stonework on the brown/yellow building.
  20. This is phenomenal. You were one of my favourite builders with your semi-detached house and this only adds to that...the level of detail in this is beyond wonderful. I can't wait to see more of your work.
  21. The lights on this are excellent - brilliant work!
  22. These are brilliant! They look clean and smooth but deadly! Thanks for including a video; they work better than I could've imagined.
  23. I can only echo this! The combination of tan and sand green is brilliant, as is the detail in the building particularly under the window, and the 'Derfel' technique of using rounds on the walls of the cattle shed is great. I really like the foliage and the slipped planks in the roofing. Awesome work.
  24. This is possibly my favourite of all of the towers - the detailing on it is superb, such as the indented windows, the round bricks on the corners, the turrets, the tiles and the variation in grey. The snow is great, and the steps are excellent...the muddy path works well as a contrast. Great great work.
