Those ships look all that much cooler together in battle formation! I'd suggest having pirates swing via rope onto the imperial ship causing havoc, but perhaps that's just the little kid in me.

Even though it is not pirate, this youtube video plays heavily on the imperial minifigures. This stop-motion video is made very well, and features the Battle of Bunker Hill.

It depends. I only open lego sets so I would only buy a MISB set if that was the only option I had. If I came across a MISB set, I'd just sell it to a collector who'd appreciate it's value and then buy a loose version of the set, oh and some extra imperial soldiers too! Only set I'd consider to open is the 1995 Imperial Guard set, Imperial Outpost. I've been looking to pick this set up lately, and I frequently see it on ebay for like a mere $5 more than a loose version. I'll spend the $5 and build the set from scratch, reminding me of when I had the set when I was younger.

My goodness, is that really a mega bloks set? If so, I would consider getting it, due to the sheer size! 8-o

I think Islanders were the least amusing genre from pirates, but that doesnt mean they weren't a good sub theme. Everything from the Pirates system was awesome! I always liked the islanders for the role they showed in old lego catalogs and magazines.. the third party combatant. In the catalogs they were shown in large numbers, usually wreaking havoc among the pirates and the imperials. At the very least, they can fill in deserted areas on islands, spying the pirates or imperials.

Im a newbie here, but I'd like to put my input. First off I see no evil in copying the lego Shako design. It is literally impossible to get this piece from ANY official lego group source. If it is not available, I cannot see very much legal action involved in any of this process. Then again, I am not an Attorney at law, so I cannot guarentee this. Two, your statement is an opinion. Just because you like the French shako better does not mean everyone else does. Personally, I detest the french design and have come very fond to Lego's rendition. Also, there is an unofficial British genre of Imperial minifigures (IE Imperial Guards), and in my opinion, French shakos would not work well with them. I believe that if the demand is high, French shakos should be made by all means, but that does not mean the original design should be scrapped.

This is an absolutely wonderful set. It features a good assortment of minifigures and serves as a great supplement or replacement to the Eldorado Fortress in the mid size base range. I picked this up on ebay along with Sabre Island from a Canadian fellow for around USD 25, so I was very pleased. Perfect place to put those pesky pirates when Eldorado is occupied enough. 5/5, A+ for value. *y*
