Hello!
Has anyone ever tried to open up the 4180 brick with train wheels for the old 12V system? I would like to get inside without doing a lot of damage.
Regards
Janco

I started making the custom lightbrick again after a long time. It has two LEDs inside, one white, one red. They light up depending on the direction of the train.
You can just swap them for the original Lego lightbrick.
See some video here:
Maybe make the insulations not directly across from each other? So the motor passes over one and then the other insulation..? Just a thought, never tried this.
I'm just an 'oldie' that doesn't know zip about 9V, RC and/or PF trains.
My brick is made with the 'eighties' system in mind. Using the 1x6 brick and light prisms. Take a look at my third picture. If that'll fit into your train somehow, you're all set. My brick will work on 9V as well. Slightly less bright, of course, since 9V is less juice then 12V.
Hey everybody
Wouldn't it be nice if your train lights actually changed from white to red when the train reverses direction?
No biggie with LEDs. These things are direction-sensitive, so I just built them into a 2x2 brick.
Of course video says it al:

Just replace the regular 12V lightbrick with these ones and you're good to go

I've got spares. You just might persuade me to part with them ;-)
see you,

aren't 12V trains THE BEST!!!???
