  1. And I realized that frequently, engines get turned around. How can I create a track layout that I can run the loco through and have it straightened out (white lights front and red at the back). Please do not tell me to swap lights out each time Thanks
  2. Sweet. Going to be tough on the wallet but since my collection is rather small, I got to have it.
  3. I concur on the convenience part of this battery pack (8878). It is expensive and I got ripped off buying from Amazon where I paid nearly $75 (and had to pay extra for the 10V wall charger unit) whereas today I saw at Lego.com the same unit priced at ~$49.
  4. Fair warning..? I was not at all prepared for this beauty you have created. Wow. Talk about mouth watering. Thanks for sharing. Hardwood floors seem to be the way to go. My fledgling system is all on carpet as we do not have much room in the house. Need a bigger house it seems.
  5. Can you mix plastic tracks with those of an earlier system? For example, I wanted to add the LEGO 7835 Manual road crossing from the 4.5V system. It just looks nice. If that is possible, perhaps, a train set from that vintage would be very nice addition I think.
  6. Thank you Chromeknight. So, essentially it will be a process very similar to what I did with EN. Buy, the individual pieces (including lights) and place them in. However, the difference being that the EN seemed to be factory designed to hold the components for the PF and even then it was a bit of struggle for me. At least the EN came with crank shaft to turn the wheels to which I was able to attach the motor with the power-pack in the tender.
  7. That is very impressive. I wonder why the LEGO company does not make these and sell themselves, given the enthusiasm and fan base of this sort of thing? I am not very mechanically/electrically inclined. So, this looks great but a bit beyond my out-of-box-snap-together-and-play skill level.
  8. Thank you all for that warm welcome. Yes, it is all about trains for me. Always was and always will. I now need to start adding stuff to make up my Cityscape. The great thing is my wife participates and indulges me. Though I need to slow down a bit.
  9. Can the FP be used with this train?
  10. Bought the Passenger Train 7938 from Amazon as well as some track.
  11. Like Bel above, I too needed a forum to deal with my addiction. I too am constantly lingering at the LEGO aisles in Toy R Us or even driving Disney Downtown's LEGO store. After years of waiting longingly for a LEGO Train set, I finally got in to it this past Christmas. I got the Cargo 7939, a bunch of track stuff, then added the EN (10194), Train Station (7937) and just yesterday, added the Passenger train 7938 with more track. Prior to that I got the Level Crossing (7936). Now, I cannot wait for the 10219 Maersk set to be introduced. My EN has the rechargeable Power pack and the other two have the 6AAA battery pack with one PF controller. Question -I have 6 points to switch tracks and 2 7996 train rail crossing. How can I automate the switching process? Right now, I manual flip them and have to do it fast or else accidents happen. My entire track layout is plastic, with a bunch of the flexible stuff (8867) as I do not have any of the older trains that I coveted for so long. Need ideas on track layout. Right now, my layout is very rudimentary. And how I can automate track switching. Thanks all. Just overcoming childhood deprivations.
  12. Hello all, Just wanted to say how much I look forward to learning more here esp about Trains. Does one join the Train Registry? Bernie
