  1. Just got one on eBay from a US based seller for $300 (included $28 in US Priority Mail shipping costs). Have not opened it, yet.
  2. Them Tar Heel fans?
  3. In my current layout, on carpet, with limited base plates, I had set a rail link to the waterfront but in an abstract way - just a rail spur sticking in to the water - trying to figure out what to do next. Thanks to this thread, and seeing some very nice layouts, I went ahead this Sunday AM and ordered 4642. 4645, 4644 & 4641 from LEGO online. I can see this integration getting serious. Thanks folks.
  4. My 10219 Maersk Train Loco seems to have a hard time going past a small stretch of flex track. Anybody else seen this and if you have, how did you resolve it? The wheels spin a bit and I have to nudge it with my fingers to get it past the small stretch that I was forced to use as the regular curved and straight plates just did not fit.
  5. Ordered two (2) from S@H when I saw their email reminder. Now, I have to tell the wife about it.
  6. So, these will only work on 12V trains? What does one do with say the PF Cargo train? Any similar solutions there?
  7. My thoughts exactly. I wonder which enterprising Bricklink store will run first with this idea?
  8. My Cargo train has the battery box that it came with as did the Passenger. For the EN Express, I ordered the PF parts but chose the rechargeable one. As expensive at is, I have decided to replace the Cargo and Passenger with the rechargeable (for convenience and I hate dealing with Batteries) and got these at this site (shop@home). And lining up the loco at the charging station feels like a loco replenishing its fuel tanks or taking on water and coal at a yard. I only need one wall charger to deal with all three packs.
  9. This what I am doing currently Thia is what I am doing currently - see pic below - sorry I cannot attach a pic (12KB) I am in FL. And checking inventory of a given model - superb. Thanks a bunch. I learn something new everyday here. Still cannot attach a simple JPG file (12.1KB) when the message says "Used 55.3K of your 100K global upload quota (Max. single file size: 44.7K)". Obviously, another lesson to learn
  10. I have decided to add a bogie or 2 to the Passenger Train (7938) by listing components from Book 3 of the instruction set. I found most of the parts on LEGO.com but a few escape me. So, I found, train buffer, chrome axles and technic (2x4 with 3 holes) from a seller on Bricklink.com. Transaction done and paid for by Paypal. Cool But, this part is like looking for in a haystack - see the image below. If anyone knows where I can find this one. I need 6 to make 2 bogies. Thanks
  11. How did you build the extra cars (each set only comes with on middle car/bogie)? I sat down with instruction book 3 that came with the set and tried to inventory all the pcs I would need. Is that how you went about it? BTW, when I started out on my layout my wife mentioned, after seeing your layout, that she expected ours to be that way - running along the walls of the living room and TV room - some track on carpet and the rest on tiled floor. Of course, our track is not anywhere near your set up in length or complexity.
  12. Yes, turntable is what I am thinking of. I got a few pieces together and once I figure out how to post pics here, I will do so. It has a few issues. It is manual (I have to turn it around) and only the Cargo train loco (7939) can make it on and off. The entire turntable is only 2 track pcs long. I turntable pc is from the Level Crossing set (7996) and it seems to work most of the time. My whole layout is on carpet in our living room so that has its ups and downs. Today, scrounging around, I found enough pcs to make a small incline/decline pc of track and all my trains seem to traverse it well. It is getting there.
  13. Yes, they are in a tent (that was still swarming with people; 6-8 checkout clerks busy). Was just there this past Thursday.
  14. Palestine, TX- home of Adrian Peterson (#28) Oh, I meant to add -- Beautiful looking depot
  15. Interesting that no architect has responded? Or are LEGO too blase for them compared to what they do in real life?
  16. Love that layout in your siggy. Still drooling over it.
  17. After just seeing Gioppa, MOC Crane, I have to ask - How many here are real world engineers? The level of detail and mechanical complexity that you folks produce the MOC LEGO stuff makes me wonder.
  18. Thank you. Lot of ways to get those parts. Looks like LEGO.com also sells individual pieces at 8 cents (US I believe) a piece.
  19. Thank you so much. Very informative and yes, any path I take is going to be hard on those plastic cards.
  20. Just when I thought I had seen great stuff here, you come along with this beauty and leave me speechless. I can now barely manage this one question - Just how many pieces did you use and where did you acquire/buy all these pieces from?
  21. One thing, in my brief time here, I have enjoyed and appreciated a lot is the creativity of folks as reflected in their creations and displays. I have 4 trains now - just got the Hogwart's train (4841) yesterday at the LEGO store in Disney Downtown (Orlando). It cost me $80. My next task is to power it (PF). While there, I also did buy a bit of odds and ends of basic pieces. The selections (color as well as type) however were very limited and got me wondering. There has to be a better way to buy basic and special pieces. Clearly, this LEGO store did not have that. So, to make new stuff from all the different creations I have seen here, you must have bought the pieces somewhere with a better selection. Where would that be? On a side, I got the passenger train (7938) at Amazon for $190 and it was priced at $130 at the LEGO store. Quite the difference and boy do I look like a fool for making that (impulsive) buy? Save you an answer - yes, I look and feel the perfect fool.
  22. Thank you. But, I am not trying to change the colors of the lights on the loco. I just want to turn my loco around so, it is always pulling face first.
  23. Thank you all. I hope I can get the pieces I need to make it all happen.
  24. Trying to get the drool off my keyboard. Very sweet indeed.
  25. Let me try it again. The Loco has white lights at the front (or on its bow using boat terminology) and red lights in the back (aft). Often times, the loco gets turned around (red is now in front and white is aft). Other than simply decoupling, lifting the loco and placing it white lights in the lead position (so uncool way to do it), is there a more elegant, operationally effective (mimics real life)way to do it with track layout design? Right. Thanks
