  1. Packing up my winter village for another year and I have my first wish for next year's set: Better structural design than Santa's Post Office. It's the last of more than a dozen winter village sets that I'm packing up and it's the only one that's going to need a full rebuild next year because just trying to pick it up has it in pieces - even after remembering that none of the roof pieces are actually attached to anything.
  2. No sign of the new parts in Canada. Not sure why we're considered a separate market from the US since that's where the non-Billund parts ship from, but hopefully they'll show up for me one day.
  3. Our store still has the BAM tower as always but also has a selection of pre-built ones for people who are just looking for specific figures. Depending on whether the staff has time to put them together - the figure with the dark blue space torso seems to go as quickly as they can put them together.
  4. The nearest Lego Store in Toronto tells me that they finally got the accessories for the Q3 BAM figures in. Not the figures themselves, but if I want baguettes, butterflies, apples, etc they're in. I was in the day after they said they had the newest pieces in and the dark blue space torsos were already stripped from the BAM station but they still had them in the back so at least I got caught up on the current batch.
  5. The local Lego Store has the tower while the Legoland has the fountain. What I really preferred was when the nearest Lego Store had a set of drawers behind the counter with each of the pieces in the BAM tower in a separate drawer and when it wasn't busy they'd give customers access to it so that you could easily build a full set of whatever the current BAM figures were without searching through the random mix of things in the tower. But head office told them they had to stop doing that.
  6. Up until recently the local Lego Store had all of the new BAM parts sorted in a set of small drawers so if you wanted to just get a set of all of the new pieces it was easy as long as you didn't try to buy more than a certain number of any given piece. But apparently corporate told them they had to stop doing that because it's better to make customers search through the tower. At least they'll still go in the back to get the parts that I can't find in the tower.
  7. On the plus side, if the GWP isn't happening then I have no reason to spend more money on Lego this month and my wallet will be happy. ;)
  8. I finally found the black dachshund today in Canada, so I feel your pain. Still waiting to see if the 2021 parts will show up eventually.
  9. There's usually one in November for Black Friday and one in December.
  10. This year it's the Halloween Owl (40497) and the Spider and Haunted House pack (40493). They don't do the seasonal vignettes every year. It usually alternates between a year of vignettes and a year of buildable characters. Last year was vignettes, this year is characters.
  11. I don't dislike the chess set. Of the new sets that I'm unlikely to buy because it doesn't fit with what I usually collect and I'm running out of space, it's the set that I'm most likely to break down and get anyway. But that being said, it doesn't fit with what I usually collect and I'm running out of space so it's not on my must buy list. ;)
  12. On the topic of goats, I remember seeing a rumour that the goats that pull Thor's chariot will be in the new Thor movie and I knew immediately what set I wanted them to make. ;)
  13. On the other hand, if they wait until next year to release a Gringotts, Diagon Alley might finally have come back in stock... ;)
  14. I'm finding the app disappointing and clunky. The minifigs are what I'm most interested in so that's not really tragic, but it is making me second guess whether to get some of the beatboxes and bandmates for my niece's birthday since I don't think she's going to have the patience to use it much.
  15. This is the first Ideas set in a while that I think is better than the original submission - and I really liked the original submission. Happy to take the trade off of getting all of the new head moulds meaning stickers instead of printed tiles. I just wish that Pooh had some printing on his stomach to make him look chubby instead of just a raised shirt that looks like a crop top. But even that is a minor quibble and bothers me less than it did with the original leaked image of the torso.
  16. I vaguely recall reading something about the parts being made in different factories so the ones that are bagged inside the bag were made somewhere else, packaged together in the inner bag, and sent to a second location to be included in the main minifigure package.
  17. I downloaded the app last night and played with it a bit with the virtual bandmate just to see how it worked. I still predict that if I give my niece a set or two for her birthday she'll love making videos - at least for a week or so before she gets bored with it, kind of like how my nephew loved the Hidden Side sets but stopped using the app pretty quickly. Since there's no way to save or share the videos except through the app I probably won't be inundated with her creations like I was expecting to be and I can guarantee Grandma and Grandpa will never see them. Still want a few of those minifigures though - probably mostly ordered through Bricklink since I can't be bothered with random blind boxes.
  18. A glow-in-the-dark Snape brickhead *might* be enough to make me care about getting a brickhead. ;)
  19. I had a bit of back and forth with customer service over technical issues on the web site a few months ago - some time pre-Black Friday - that resulted in my getting a phone call from someone higher up to explain some of the things they were doing to fix problems on their web site. The funniest part of the whole conversation was when he said "You have to understand that we're not a huge company like Amazon. We're just a family owned business." Sure they're not the size of Amazon but I'm pretty sure they've reached the size to be able to have a working ecommerce system.
  20. But not really more odd than having to go through a bakery to get to an apartment or dentist office... ;)
  21. To me the checkerboard pattern looks like the pattern used to show a transparent background in Photoshop so when I look at the combined crest all I can see is the two bottom corners that make me wonder what's missing. It didn't bother me as much on the individual crests where the only square of colour in each design is what pulls my eye but now that I see them beside the combined crest it bugs me on the smaller ones too.
  22. I haven't given up hope on the Christmas pieces yet. The summer pieces, yes, but not the Christmas pieces!
  23. That won't be new if it does happen. I found my piggy guy from series 12 because someone had torn open the package and put it back on the shelf at Toys R Us. The only piece that was missing was the apple, which I assume fell out somewhere as opposed to whoever tore open the package only wanting the apple.
  24. Having bought the last two series from someone online because feeling the bags hasn't really been an option, this change to the packaging means that I'll either keep buying that way or start to question whether I really need to keep collecting CMFs. Hunting for a complete set used to be fun but if the effort to find the ones I want is outweighed by the probability of just getting random doubles or the cost of trying to get a set then there are other things (probably still Lego...) that I can spend my money on.
  25. Given that in our area we still haven't seen the black dachshound reach the not-actually-open BAM towers yet, I'm OK if they take their time with other new animal prints in BAM.
