Hi, For 2 locomotives that run in a row simply use the same channel on both IR receivers. I have tried this on my Maersk train with 2 locomotives, works fine, even when the locomotives have waggons in between them. It does sometimes become ugly when one locomotive is in a tunnel or similar, but hey, thats what train fans love, i.e. the "hand of God" to rectify any problems on the track Good luck! Baard

Great review. I was looking through the boxes of a whole collection I bought second hand. And yes, the rail crossing is there along with the special parts and all. I have now got all 4 rail types (blue era, grey era, 9V and plastic bley), but have decided that 9V is the standard for the most part, but plastic bley will be used on loops that are designated PF trains only. Working on a mountain module, but haven´t figured out a good way to include the 12V rail system. Thanks again, Bård

When I was building my new Lego room I was asking my (NLSO) wife If I could make a hole in the wall to allow trains to run an extra round on a deep natural shelf in the next room the answer was: NO. And so be it. Thanks for sharing this wonderful layout. I have something to show my wife. Now she will be convinced I am not the only train enthusiast enjoying tunnels through walls around... Hi, IMO Lego landscapes should be built with Lego. My experience is that it takes time, is expensive and hard to make look realistic. For displays on a show the hardest part is to move the whole layout. I am currently working on a layout that involves elevation from floor to table (a trial to make the Flåm railway in Norway), adding some extra excitement for possible derailing, inclination of the tracks and use of PF, but it will work out in the end. The layout demands an open back. I will try to post pictures as I go a long. Happy building, Bård

Fellow builders and Lego lovers, I have all these three and must say that they all have their advantages and are great builds compared to most other sets in terms of playability, realistic representation and color schemes. I love them all and are some of the few original Lego sets I actually will keep as is (with small aestetic alterations). Having to choose, though, I have to go with the Maersk locomotive. This locomotive looks most like the original and looks great on track. Good luck with the poll. Baard

I have put ME track interspaced with LEGO 9V track. I have tested several of TLC own engines like the Santa Fe, Santa Fe Burlington as is, that is, without added train weights or lead to make the engine run better with heavier loads. With a heavy load, however, it seems that the train will slip when on the ME track, even when the train has speed. Starting off on the ME track, the engine will slip/spin until it gets to the LEGO track and then gain speed. I have not tried with only ME track for a longer stretch. Will try that over the weekend as well as try to make a sloping track with the ME rails to see if there is a difference. PF engines seem to have no problem whatsoever on the track Cheers, Bård

Have bought a few of the 32 long ME-model rails and are testing them as I write. They are connecting well with the 9V rails, no need for the provided aluminum foil to connect well, even on a large circuit. Have not needed to put in extra sleepers for stability. All trains run fine on the track, ie, 9V, RC and PF. The only drawback encountered so far seems that the 9V motor wheels are slipping on these rails. I will test with more sleepers and see if the problem continues. Will post results shortly.

Experience soo far with my 2 built sets of this wonderful train: runs fine on track, but 1 PF motor cannot pull two locomotives and 4 waggons with ease (full of containers), thus one PF motor per locomotive is needed. In comparison with my MOC norwegian train EL17 with 2 PF motors the 2 locomotives can pull about the same load. With regards to the comments that there are not many Maersk blue pieces, I disagree. It is possible to swop many of the pieces that aren't seen from the outside, e.g. from the boggies, the mid section under the train as well as inside the body of the train. I have also changed the gray parts in the boggies to black, as this is more pleasing to the eye. My vote is outstanding, given the fact that this train along with Santa Fe anf BNSF is the closest TLC has gotten to resemble trains from real life in my opinion.

Hi, Long time fan of Lego, relatively new to Eurobricks, member of the Norwegian AFOL group Brikkelauget (www.brikkelauget.no) Started to build with my brother early 70ties, Dark ages from mid 80ties until 2001-2. Has since developed a large collection of bricks, main interest is train and city related stuff. Plan is to build the Flåm- Myrdal railway, which is one of Norways railway gems with a stunning 827meter climb from the fjord until the mountain in just 20km. This will also incorporate a fun exercise and childhood dream of building a Lego mountain with tunnels and all. I am pretty bad at taking pictures of my creations, but have included the Oslo tram that I built a few years back. It sits in front of "Stortorvets Gjæstgiveri" - an old restaurant/bar in Oslo. I own most of the trains from the blue 12V period, some from the light gray 12V period, some of the nicer 9V trains as well as all the latest RC/PF trains, although I prefer to build MOC replicas of real trains.
