  1. I am going to get the motorised excavator, and the big red truck in the next couple of days from shop@home, and I am also buying some power functions stuff (ir reciever and XL motor) and I am wondering if anyone else has used this controller, and how good it is. My idea is that I could put 2 XL motors in the base of the excavator, and use variable speed for the tracks, then use the two controllers for the other 4 functions. I am actually trying to get all of the 2010 sets, plus the truck. I have 3 so far, the motorbike, the mini forklift, and the mini excavator.
  2. well Toyworld tower junction doesn't have the Excavator, or the Crane Truck, which is really annoying
  3. OK, thanks for the link to the toyworld voucher! I would not have known about it. ETA: am I able to use one of those vouchers every time I go in, or just once? I might look in Kmart to see what they have, because I am going to go to Westfield to get batteries first. does anyone know how well rechargeable batteries work with lego motors? it is almost 2 volts less because rechargeables are 1.2V instead of 1.5V.
  4. Hi, new here. anyone here from Christchurch? the only place I have bought LEGO from is Toyworld, but are there any other places that might be better? I am probably going to buy my first set in a few years (the Technic excavator) tomorrow from Toyworld Tower Junction.
  5. Hi, I'm Matthew, and I'm from Christchurch, NZ. I am about to start my third year at uni at Canterbury University studying physics and astronomy. I also play the tuba, hence my username. A couple of days ago I decided that I will get the Technic remote control excavator, which should get me back into my LEGO. I have quite an extensive collection, mostly technic. I haven't got anything recently, mostly because of lack of money (I am a uni student). I have a job now, so I can afford a little bit, and I really want the remote control abilities! some of my own creations are a bus in the likeness of our local red buses, a tank with home made tracks, and a 4 metre high model of the worlds tallest building, the Burj Khafila (formerly known as the Burj Dubai) the first two won in the local lego building competition in two years, getting me $100 of lego each time. I didn't win the final though. My tank: my bus: The Burj Khafila with me (I'm kind of short!): and my attempt to build a Dodge Viper (I think entirely from scratch): are there any rules for posting photos like size? this looks like an interesting forum. I spent the last couple of hours reading through the discussion about the problems with the excavator.
