Very good article. I didn't realize how much had gone into turning TLG around over the past few years. It is some of these recent changes that brought me back into Lego! Now that I have a daughter I'm liking the look of these new sets and looking forward to many hours of Daddy-daughter lego time
Well according to the article TLG spent $5,000 a pop on those three, though I assume that would include the manufacturing costs + the expense of installation.
Just read this on GeekDad full article here
Basically Lego has made 3 special aluminum mini-figs that are on the soon-to-launch Juno spacecraft that is heading for Jupiter. I hope they release them for sale too!
Yeah I was all over the Futuron stuff too. I got the monorail for Christmas. It was a huge surprise. It was in the Zeller (Canadian dept store) rewards catalogue and my mom saved up all her points to get it for me. I was super excited and spent all day putting it together and played with it for hours upon hours. I picked up most of the rest of the Futuron stuff in the couple years following. Even as I collected Space Police, M:Tron and Blacktron, Futuron was always the centre of my collection.
If you don't touch it, it doesn't fall apart. I find the fuel tank comes apart when I remove the boosters. I emailed Lego about the kit but haven't received a reply.
I have this one, there was another one with a 4 on it as well. I also had 6381 which came with a #2 & #3. The funny thing is, after nearly 20 years in a box, I busted them all out with my nephews just a few months ago and they still rock!
