When's the sale start?

FYI shop at home stock all ships from denmark, so at this time of year it could take a while to arrive.

Picked up weathertop and the uruk army from Myer Adelaide yesterday. The girl behind the counter said they're expecting to get plenty of the other sets before their big sale at the end of the month.

Have they really increased it, or is it just that you only get the choice of express for the bigger sets?

I think it might still work if you get them to purchase the items for you, though honestly haven't tried it for quite a while

Apparently due to scammers shop@home no longer ship to freight forwarders.

The levers & the big dish are no longer in stock, so if that was the main part of your order then it may not be worth resubmitting it.

Myer Adelaide CBD had one or two, I think the price was around $320.

Faked parts?

Remember it's designed primarily for kids to play with. While needing to remove tiles to pull the droid out may satisfy OCD AFOLs, it's just going to irritate everyone else. Anyway, nothing stopping you changing it yourself afterwards.

Argh the order I thought would be hassle-free has turned out to be the only one I've had issues with. Just received my lego replacement parts package, with a huge tear in the back which has been re-taped. Naturally I didn't notice until after I'd signed for it, when I was walking back inside and noticed a part on the outside of the package stuck to the tape they'd used to repair it. Open it up, and half the parts are gone, including one whole bag and most of the smaller bits :( At least I had this one insured, so here's hoping that there's no hassles with the claim.

Taking one sale price hardly gives a fair picture of what most people in Australia would have paid for it. Neither of my local kmarts had any at all, let alone for $750.

I think your definition of 'full price' and the TRU one might differ slightly. You're welcome to try, but I'd wager minifigs will still be 3 for $10, the only change will be that they're $4 each individually.

Look how much people are willing to pay for collectable minifigs. Now add licensing costs that are inevitably paid for anything star wars related, and you're pretty much up to that sort of price point.

Which is actually a really good example of why the piece:price ratio is a terrible way of deciding the value of the set. Already owning the UCS xwing & several of the TIEs the pod isthe only set here that I'll end up buying, apart from maybe the endor battle set if I can find it for a sensible price.

Should just point out here that the RRP in australia was $979, and shipping was ~$100 from memory so your point isn't entirely correct. And to drag this off-topic, why on earth did TLG include leia and obi-wan as mini figs in this one? Obi had snuffed it before leia arrived, so really one of them should have been swapped out to mimic either the death star or tatooine escapes.

Last BL order has been placed for mine. Should end up costing AU$800-950, which is a bit higher than I would have liked but not too bad considering how much it would cost me to get one locally. The bulk of the parts came from AU sellers, with I think 5 orders from O/S sellers. For anyone looking to do this I found that the US & western europe (ex UK) had the best shipping for smaller orders. I'd been thinking that small orders would get annihilated by shipping costs, but it was typically $2-5 for smaller orders which strangely enough is comparable or better than what it would have been to get them shipped from interstate. I had to rush a bit with the orders, as it was a bit of a race between placing the orders and our dollar imploding, but I think in the end I won :)

Which store? I only remember TTP ever having a couple, and they were gone within a week or so of the set going on sale.

Yeah still looks like speculation to me, imagine it'll be a while before we get anything concrete.

I seem to be off the myer one spam list, I never got an email about the sale. I'm still looking for a store in Adelaide where the figures are in a quiet spot so I can have a good rummage. It's just a little odd feeling up lots of little bags while standing right next to the checkouts. The worst one that I've found was toyworld in the CBD, where the cranky lady at the counter snapped at me saying "there's a two minute limit on looking through those."

The frustrating part is that when the falcon was (relatively) cheap in the states, our exchange rate was terrible. Now that it's gotten better you can't find them under $1k USD anyway. On a happier note I've managed to arrange to get the parts shipped to a friend in the states, who will then forward them on to me. Not too bad either, ~$120 for most of the rarer parts from the set. Though if someone is in a generous mode and feels like giving me the number from the back of the book I'd be eternally grateful, as that'd let me get the sticker sheet too :)

I'll go halves with you, the look on the missus' face when the truck pulled up would be worth the weeks of sleeping in the shed :)
