  1. Thanks! I have wanted someone to review this for ages. Arg... the only set I don't want is the captains cabin! Why must this line be so amazing?
  2. I mean to say, hoe does it fair compared to others? Not in any particular respect, just generally. Thanks for any help!
  3. When are these out?
  4. Yea, my reasoning for 3 was that I thought a 2 story build might look a it odd from the outside. However I had an idea of having a different kind of build which I wil build an incredibly basic version of so we can get some ideas.
  5. Oh, how hilarious the nonsensical argument is though. But I agree.. it is actually a bit annoying.
  6. Hi, I recently decided that many of the Hogwarts sets I want just probably won't be made. Now in response to that I have negun sending bricklink order after order getting parts in to create my own "sets" which retain the essence of the battle for Hogwarts and the castle. Now, I have already completed two towers which are filled with misc. stuff, i.e. Ravenclaw common room, huffelpuff common room, the hospital wing, defence against the dark arts class, potions class, transfiguration class, DADA teachers office. I will post pictures of these shortly. So, to the point, I want to create a chamber of secrets, It will be 3 stories high and I imagine them to be thus-like: 1st floor: Chamber of secrets. I would like it to have mostly just a head and possibly a way for it to open at the mouth. Problem being that to make it work in regard to scale, this room must be no more than 9 bricks high. I have tried making a smaller version of the 2002 head however it is still very tall and I feel it does not create the right idea of what the head looks like. I would also expect it to have either black snakes on the walls as I do not want to reuse he 2002 printed wall pieces. 2nd floor: the place where Ron and Lockhart get stuck. I plan on this having either a trapdoor function like the first set which blocks the path or doing a wall which can be spun, or doing a brick drop feature. Please tell me if you have any other ideas on how it could be accomplished. 3rd floor: the bathroom. This roo I intend to be mostly taken up by two sins with mirrors which can be pulled back in the same way in which the bookcase works in the 4th castle. Once pulled back they would lead to a small hole which a minifig can jump down to reach the lower level. I am also about to set my order for a brickbuilt basilisk because the old one feels so bulky now. So, essentially, I would like all the ideas you have, mostly regarding the head. I continually build then destroy bases of this tower and cannot seem to find one which tick all the boxes. I will post pictures as soon as my camera in up and running again and for now would love to hear some ideas!!! Thanks!
  7. What do you really think the chances of Myer getting it out are though? See, I am currently going to buy it from the US, so postage is whats pushing the price up. In the US it's RRP is 150. In AUS it is 269. Now I could ramble on about how ridiculous this is. I mean, it really, really, really is. But instead I will just ask, if Myer ever does get it the what are the chances of the price dropping by $70? I just can't see it happening. I really don't want to miss out on this one and I am worried if I leave it I will miss it.
  8. Hi, I want Diagon Alley and I know that if I leave it till the end of the year I WILL regret it. Now I am about to pass up $219 to buy it off of bricklink (I'm in Aus, it is the cheapest I will ever get it haha.) So although it is an amazing set from what I have heard, is it really worth the money? Thanks
  9. Personally, I don't think she would have Hermione's Hair. I think she would have Ginny's hair or even a new mould in black.
  10. Sorry mate, He was right, Crabbe is the short fat one. Goyle is tall and not fat, with the combover thing. Now, in my eyes, the new Goyle figure looks fat with flat hair. Just like the real Crabbe. Just to set the record in who Crabbe is: http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Vincent_Crabbe
  11. I'm surprised that Avatar is beating Spiderman...
  12. Has anyone else noticed that Goyle looks an awful lot more like Crabbe?
  13. sorry, how do I delete this post?
  14. but, I mean, thats just it. It is really not that iconic. It is of relatively minor importance, makes hardly any effect as to the outcomes of the overall plot of the series and in the film or books it just wasn't that remarkable. I get that some kids didn't get it the first time... but would any of them really want it that much? I mean, a vehicle only has a playability factor if it has some kind of starting point. Now, with the omission of the grim, and the fact that we have neither its starting point or destination in set form, it really does not seem like it should have been that high up on the lists of sets that ought to be made... Maybe I'm missing something... but to me the 2010 Hogwarts express had the car to play off of. The second Hogwarts express had the Dementors and the station, the first one had the station, the first knight bus had the grim. I'm just not sure where a set that has next to no inside room, no real play feature for kids and no significance in the films gets its marketability from... That said, it has the HP logo on it, so I'm sure I will end up buying it.
  15. I'm not sure anyone really does...
  16. "Shitty fun" ..... ?
  17. hahaha Ok, yes, the box art looks like its all flamey. But the actually set is not at all except for the little marsh thing. Yes, I apologise because, technically, you are right. But you must be able to see where I am coming from? Sorry, yes I did. And I am not sure what you are saying... Was Flints last year COS or not? But thanks for the correction. I'm always getting the two films mixed up.
  18. Now to rebut! The sets are almost always based on the films, so generally speaking, referencing the books are not a great deal of evidence, that said I'm just going to list the rest of my points: - Sprout is only in Part 2 and COS, and because she introduced the whole Mandrake thing and also was crucial in helping the students get back to normal. - The Burrow was shown the way the set is in COS, its very bright and cheery, if they wanted to do a, say, OTP version it would be dark and have fire everywhere. - The diary might have been a clue, but it was no more crucial than having say, the other actual horcruxes, which they have excluded from all the sets as far as I have seen. Which really, makes its use rather small if from a playability point of view. - The basilisk fang may have been important in Deathly Hallows, but overal I see very little attention to deathly hallows in all these new sets. - Aragog, as you said, made an awful second appearance, it made hardly any impact and he was only really crucial in the second. - The quiditch set is from COS, we know this because Draco didn't become seeker until his second year and Flint was in his final year in Draco's second. Which means it must be set in the second year. Also Draco's broom is a nimbus 2001. I'm not saying my evidence is rock solid, but there is obviously a focus on COS. p.s. Isn't is though? could you imagine if in the movie they like, shrink Hagrid in order to capture him!
  19. Does it seem very possible to anyone else that we will see a chamber of secrets soonish? I say this simply because that is the film that they have been giving the most attention to. I mean, we saw freeing Dobby and Hogwarts express. Plus there have been other hints like Aragog and the dairy has appeared in two sets. There was also the basilisk fang in Dumbledores office and in the official description of the set the point it out as a feature. Then there was the floo network in two sets, plus Borgin and Burkes was heavily noted in COS. Then there is the fact we have filch and his cat, who both play a large role in COS. The burrow was also first seen in COS and was a highlight of the film. It has also been proven that the quiditch set is a COS set. In the future sets we are seeing sprout, who, again, was a COS character and really was not THAT important character in the battle. I understand she is a head of house, but she has no students in lego form currently and really has no place. Maybe it's just me... but I can see a LOT of evidence pointing towards a new COS. also, does it seem odd that in this: photo Hagrid is shorter that everyone else...? Great photoshopping lego!
  20. oops! Sorry, I couldn't find another when I was searching...
  21. Personally, Harry Potter is my favourite, but only because I love Harry Potter too much to begin with. I also though Batman released some greats sets too. What do you think?
  22. I don't know if anyone has pointed this out... but how weird is that? Good guess!
  23. Quick question; will Diagon Alley still be around by the end of this year? Exclusives normally hang round a while longer right?
  24. I would kill for a whomping willow, presuming it was made well haha. I would expect it to have Harry and Hermione, Ron and the grim. I would LIKE it to have Harry, Hemione, Ron, Sirus, the grim, Lupin, Wormtail, the flying car. It would be nice for it to have some kind of hole in it as a passage to the Shack. Speaking of which, I would also love a new shrieking shack, one which is larger and gets the shape of the building in the films better. I would expect it to have Sirus, Lupin, Snape, Wormtail and Harry. I would like it to have all of the above characters plus Ron and Hermione. I'd love next years castle piece (assuming there is one, as there has been these past 2 years.) to be a collection of chambers, i.e. the philosophers stones chambers and a good sized chamber of secrets. However with the inclusion of the mirror in the new battle for Hogwarts I can't see them doing the philosophers stone chambers. But we could still get a chamber of secrets with some classrooms above, the toilet with moaning Mertyl, a hallway with a wall which can be spun, on one side a normal wall and on the other a wall that has "the chamber of secrets has been opened" written on it. I would expect it to have Harry, Hermione, Ron, the basilisk, Mertyl, Lockhart, Ginny, Tom Riddle. I would like it to have Harry, Hermione, Ron, basilisk, Mertlyl, Lockhart, Ginny, Tom Riddle, Trelawney, Crabbe, Goyle and Malfoy. Those are a few or my ideas, good or bad as they may be...
  25. PLEASE do!!! I have been trying to get the quidditch match since late november and cannot find it ANYWHERE! If you, or anyone else ses it please tell me haha. With these kinds of amazing sales I'm sure that this next wave will not be the last in the HP line... just imagine what we might see next! I really like the look of the battle as well. Although, you know, Lucius... But the rest of it looks great! If we get a small COS in it then we pretty much have all the sets required for the chamber of secrets story, willow aside. EXCITED!
