Thank you! I would consider selling instructions if there is enough interest. It would help to fill that giant hole that the SDF-1 burned into my wallet.

I wanted something to display with my SDF-1 MOC, what would the Macross be without her squadron of variable fighters. Well in my case they are not very "variable", I didn't build them to be transformable. I just wanted them to be in battroid mode. As always the MOCs have been built in LDD, unfortunately I don't have the necessary amount of bricks to just go ahead and prototype. Brick count is 1051 including the gun pod. Note: I had to link to the images from the FB page, for some reason the upload feature didn't work for me.

Thank you ! Thanks ! It's definitely heavier than the 10179 Millennium Falcon. My estimate is around 15kg. As for the cost, I bought the bricks over a span of 1 year, I didn't really keep track. I most likely went beyond the 2000$ mark. That includes everything, the stands and the 2 carriers that are not in the pictures. I have to say though that I only went for brand new bricks. The technic parts for the inner frame drove the cost up.

Back in December 2015 I posted a Lego Digital Designer WIP of my Macross SDF-1. It's been 12 months since then and the build is no longer just digital. Along the way I made a number of changes, including some improvements to the structural integrity. Around 9000 bricks have been used for the SDF-1 itself. Additional 2000 bricks for both carriers, which are not in the pictures. I opted to make the build not transformable. I wanted something sturdy that can be picked up and moved if necessary, not something flimsy that would collapse under it's own weight. Total length of the build is 1.1 meters or around 43 inches.

It's been a while since I've updated my post here on Eurobricks. I'm still here and working on the SDF-1. I'm hoping to finish this MOC by the end of the year, I'm still around 3000 bricks short. I made some changes along the way, the most significant changes were made where the main hull connects to the legs / thruster segment to support the weight. I'm happy that it turned out to be quite sturdy. I had to replace 1-2 elements, who would have thought that dbg macaroni bricks cost 5$ a piece ?! I wasn't going to spend 200$ for 40 pcs, so I went for dbg modified facet pieces as replacement. Unfortunately there is a 100kb limit for attachments, and image linking doesn't seem to be working for me. You can find more pictures on the FB page at https://www.facebook.com/legosuperdimensionalfortress/

Thanks, can't wait either. You're right, it is going to be huge. The lbg flat round tile is just a place holder, I'll replace it with tan or yellow eventually.

Bricks cracking... just from being connected to one another?
BrickSash replied to Endgame's topic in General LEGO Discussion
While sorting I found a number of cheese slopes and 2x4 bricks that had cracks in them. The 2x4 bricks (lbg) have been stacked together since November of last year (2014), they were leftovers from a PAB order. 4 out of the 10 bricks that were stacked together had cracks in them. -
[MOC] Millennium Falcon - Still the coolest spaceship!
BrickSash replied to marshal_banana's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Congratulations ! This is the best LEGO Millennium Falcon I've seen so far. I love the details, and the fact that even the bottom of the set looks incredible. I hope we get to see more pictures, front view etc. Impressive ! -
BrickLinking (another) 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
BrickSash replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In regards to a new UCS Falcon in 2016, I guess I'll believe it when I see it. Either way, this time around I'll make sure that I'll buy at least two, after missing the release of the 10179. I have to agree with Daphatty, bricklinking the UCS Falcon was quite an experience. After month of waiting and brick hunting, it felt very rewarding once I had the Millennium Falcon completed. It felt like an accomplishment, a feeling that I don't get when I walk into a store and buy a set and walk out. But that said, bricklinking the 10179 can be a quite an expensive endeavor and it's up to everyone's own opinion to decide if it's worth it or not. The 10179 has its flaws, just like any other set. But the beauty about Lego is that you're not stuck with these flaws, you have the ability to improve the set. In my case, not a single day have I regretted bricklinking the 10179, in my eyes it's an impressive set. You'll have people giving you pros and cons, but at the end you'll be the one spending the money on it. You have to make up your own mind.- 290 replies

Thanks. I always thought that the original ramp looked unfinished. Adding inverted tiles is a quick mod.- 290 replies

BrickLinking (another) 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
BrickSash replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thank you ! Yours though is the best modified Falcon I've seen so far. I hope we'll get to see how you pulled off the front hull modifications and mandibles one day. I was drooling over your lxf files and I'm looking forward to integrate those engine flaps and the hull modification. Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that the mandibles on your Falcon are drooping as well. Nothing I came up with was providing enough support to make a difference. Thank you ! Congratulations on your MF as well.. I know it's quite an achievement. It was really tough having to wait that long, but at the end it all paid off. The SSD was the second set I bought, it retired shortly after. I regret that I missed the ISD, and of course I wish I could have bought a retail 10179, but I was 6 years too late Should they ever reissue the 10179 or release a redesigned UCS Falcon I'll make sure that I'll buy two ! Update: I just put my Falcon back together. I was one power function light short which was supposed to be for the cockpit and ramp. I'll get back to it after new year.- 290 replies

BrickLinking (another) 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
BrickSash replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks a lot ! Nowadays I noticed that the mandibles are slightly drooping. I have not changed anything on the frame itself, but I guess it's just something that will happen after a period of time. I remember ScottishDave mentioning something about reinforcing the mandibles. I'd highly appreciate it if he could shed some light on how he did that.- 290 replies

I got the 75103 First order transporter last Sunday. I bought it for the minifigs and bricks though, I won't be building it.

BrickLinking (another) 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
BrickSash replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I hope you guys don't mind if I share my story here. I was in my dark ages when the 10179 was released, honestly I wasn't even aware of it. It was someone at my workplace back in early 2013, who rekindled my love for LEGO. He showed me a picture of his Death star, and it got me curious. I ordered the UCS X Wing, and then got hooked. Shortly after I learned of the 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon. A quick search on Amazon and Ebay made it clear that I'd probably never own this set, my wife would kill me. I stumbled upon the Eurobricks forum and read of people "bricklinking" / "rebricking" the 10179. That gave me a little bit of hope, but being an expat that lives in the Philippines would make it a challenge. Having the parts sent directly to the Philippines wasn't an option for me. I had items shipped through snail mail before, items went missing, arrived damaged or postal officers would try to extort ridiculous amounts of money. My only option was to order the needed parts and have them shipped to my parents, who could then bring my orders with them during their yearly visit. I was worried that some parts could be missing, nobody would be checking the orders once they'd have arrived at my parents. I started ordering in May 2014 and my parents would be arriving for the Christmas holidays in 2014. I guess it would have been difficult to make a claim, 7 months after I placed the order. But to my surprise, all orders were complete. I ordered from approx. 13 different merchants within Europe (my parents live in Germany), I wanted to keep the number low and order as many elements as possible from a single seller, I thought that would keep the failure rate low (missing parts). All Bricklink transactions went smooth and without problems. I encountered a problem when I ordered from Lego's online store though. My first PAB order went without problems, I was able to pay using my Credit Card. My second order, which was made through the special parts catalog caused me some headaches. Back then, the credit card had to be verified through the phone, and every single time it would fail. I had no clue what the problem was, I had paid my Bricklink and Lego PAB orders without problems, why wouldn't it work ?! Turned out that my Bank doesn't allow phone transactions. So I had to ask my dad to pay for it. My parents had everything stowed away in their luggage, I don't know if I was happier to see them or knowing that they had my Lego orders with them haha. Christmas 2014 was quite exciting. The Millennium Falcon has changed quite a bit over the past 12 months. I got inspired by some of the modifications that were posted here on Bricklink. December 2014 June 2015 (modified greebling, raised access port tunnels) Around October 2015 (Ep7 Radar dish, smaller access ports on mandibles) December 2015 (working on lights mod) Once that is done I want to work on the engine flaps, and then I believe I'll be finally done modding the Falcon.- 290 replies

Thanks for the kind feedback ! I agree with you, the DYRL movie version is my favorite rendition. Not a huge fan of the TV series version, though it is the original. I was going to include Fokkers veritech in microscale, but it won't be in scale with the SDF-1 of course. That's true. I was more looking forward to integrate some nice lightning effects for the thrusters, Haha yeah, that was major fail

Thanks M'Kyuun ! I'm a member of macrossworld and I've been posting my progress in the workshop section since April. I was trying to integrate transformation at the beginning but then gave up on it. I just wasn't able to find a solution to some of the challenges I encountered. So I just went ahead and concentrated on the cruiser mode. However, I'm planning to work on an "attack mode" version once I've completed this MOC. Someone on Macrossworld was asking me for a "TV version conversion kit". The frame work is there, the changes wouldn't be that big, but just adding the aircraft carriers would be less work. I'll definitely consider that. I guess that would make a lot of "TV version" fans happy.

Earlier this year a member of our local LUG posted a video of a MOC of the SDF-1. I was fascinated and took a closer look at the video to study the creation. To my disappointment, quite a number of the parts were custom made or modified. That inspired me to build my own SDF-1 without making use of modified or custom bricks. I started in April, and this is the SDF-1 in its current state. It's 150 studs long which is 1.20 meters. The brick count is around 9800, including the two ARMD carrier vessels and the stands. I'm still trying to fix some areas, but ultimately, it's my goal to turn this beast into real bricks. Facebook page
