  1. I also bricklinked the UCS millenium falcon, with an approximate cost of 350€ + ~100€ shipment cost The only bricks I changed were the 2 grey masts used as grids behind the reactors, and the UCS plate. I took them in black, and will probably paint them in gray when I have time.
  2. Sorry my bad they said they would NOT fill the back orders. The crappy bobba fett key chain was a replacement (at least I would have like them to give me the choice to cancel the order) Anyway I'm not really mad those are only toys after all ;-)...however I'll think twice before ordering again at S@H.
  3. Since ARF trooper is my kids favorite figure, I ordered the lego SW on the 3rd of may around midnight and ARF troopers were already in back order (in France). I phoned today to LEGO to have a status and they told me they would fill the back orders so they were sending me a bobba fett keyring. I cancelled my order unfortunatly some of the lego had already been shipped so it will cost me at least some time at the post-office. Seing people stockpiling ARF trooper is a bit offsetting
  4. Hey, excellent. Typically you show us that creativity is not limited by the number of bricks one have. What you have done is much more than lego, there's a real effort in realisation, music & editing. At that stage you're almost ready to launch your own lego sentai series :)
  5. For your info I bought mine brick by brick, swaping the old gray to new light bluish gray. I finished building it with my sons today. I estimate the final cost between 300€ and 400€, with a handful of tricks (such as using black 1x16 technic bricks instead of light grey ones, they can't be seen and cost 3 times less)
  6. Looks nice and original...impressive for a first try :) 2 remarks - what will be the main color theme ? Hopefully we won't see the red bricks by the end :D - the support technic bricks at the base look a bit fragile to me once you'll have covered the structure, you may want to reinforce it. Looking forward the final result !
  7. I dunno...It looks more like 3D Printing of a voxel landscape than Legos. Brick limitations brings creativity, and those models are too massive and bland, in particular the structures. Anyway thanks for the great pictures !
  8. I finally finished my kids'room. - 4 linear meters of desk for building (although most of it happens on the floor ) - 8 linear meters of shelves for exposition & temporary models (eg graveyards) - 1 big lego head container to quickly pick up bricks before putting them to bed - 30 red labeled drawers (Ikea model : HELMER) for bricks / plates / figures / round stuff / slopes & archs / ship parts / objects / instructions - 80 DIY drawers on the desk for small components (greblings, technics) - a laptop to retrieve/visualize pdf instruction manuals Although not the best looking room in the house it's very functional and it is quickly becoming their paradise at home :)
  9. Hey, excellent work and great use of tiles :-) You intend to encase the ring completly ?
  10. Hey of course...you attention as well as any criticism is welcome I think it's pretty easy with current structure to "encase" the ring by changing some of the pins direction and adding more plates on the inside, closing each panel with slopes or bricks as in the link gently provided by Fallenangel327. However for the docking structure I lack all the technical beams (I don't have Kit Fisto JSF as I ordered only the ring components...overall I'm a bit limited by my bricks : I don't even have enough 2x6 white plate so why I had to use wedges )
  11. Since release of UCS 10215 you've all been wanting to see this. Well at least I did So I modded my UCS quick & dirty. Not really inventive but a perfect round shape is rather hard to achieve and Kit-Fisto Ring solution was very elegant. If it's not broken, don't fix it. I changed to color theme and added the 7676 reactors that my kids have dropped on the floor the other day "by mistake" (or so they say...possibly an excuse to get the few bricks they needed). Creating a docking bay is a bit beyond me and the overall/scale suits me, plus I suspect that it would require some heavy modification in the JSF itself. I also wanted to show something that was easy to achieve since it uses existing models. Hopefully someone more talented will MOC a more elaborate version with docking bay :-) Thanks for your time, enjoy !
  12. Dark Red macaroni don't seem to exist. Actually the dark red round bricks are limited. Next best candidate was Wheel 31mm D. x 15mm Technic.

During my Dark Ages I may have played Magic Cards (duh). Seing such MOCs reminds me of players showing decks full of japanese premium summer edition Black Lotuses pimped by original artists and signed by Richard Garfield. I'm not even sure I could build a support ship for your MOC with my entire collection :D Anyway it's gorgeous : both massive and well designed. One could argue that it misses lights and gallery of the ship innards, but it's already jawdropping as it is. If I could indulge myself with a suggestion, aimed at number whores : what is the total weight and approx. brick count of the beast ?
  14. Great review with many details :-) You could benefit from a better camera though :D I received this set a few days ago and built it with my sons. I agree with you, once finished this thing is a beast and looks much better then in the pictures I saw previously. It's agressive, it's sleak, colors are beautiful, and apart from the dozens of 1x1 headlight bricks (I still didn't get why they didn't choose lenghtier bricks with a similar function) assembly is great fun. Also after building the nose it becomes obvious that one day I'll build a real sword with legos :-p Actually I was thinking about that as well. However dark red cylinders bricks aren't that common and obviously you need some holes to add greebles. My idea was to use brick 41531 for the body. What do you think of it ? any suggestion for the legs ? Ach, this requires some collective brainstorming ;)
  15. Awesome colors and shape for this spaceship...I'm jealous When I see enormous MOCs like that, especially with hundreds of bricks from a particular color I'm always wondering : do you have all the bricks around or do you plan in advance what you will need and buy them online ?
  16. I'm a newcomer just coming out of 20 years of Dark Ages because (thanks to !) my kids...This MOC made it through countless mainstream blogs & forums where I saw it a while ago. At last I have found THE source material and maker... who I can mightily congrats ! nb : love the skeleton pieces in the stand. So amazing it's disgusting !
  17. I think it's a set designed for a beginner or for kids (Well, younger kids :D) The build looks sturdy enough for 5-6 years old, and for the price -I've seen it to less than 20 usd on amazon right before christmas- you have a bunch of common yet emblematic figures. As an addition I think it's a nice upgrade of the previous landspeeder, especially color-wise. Excellent review and kudos on the pictures perfect lighning :-)
  18. Thanks for the welcome :-) I used this ship as an inspiration. As for the story...actually I did NOT stole his bricks ...I just offered him to build another Slave I ...without the needed bricks I then gave this one to him anyway. He absolutly wanted to put a minifig in it but the only way it can fit is lying down in the cockpit...given the number of G this beast can inflict to the pilot it would probably be the only way to stay alive (the skull & crossbones are grim remains of the prototype first seated pilot...he was instantly skinned during take-off )
  19. Thanks for the welcome :-) For posting in the same topic I was not sure. A 5000+ bricks Venator MOC certainly deserves its own topic. I feel that for less ambitious MOCs a generic topic would be a good idea. I hope Courleciel will take no offence, actually he gave me the idea a few days ago ...if needed I can remove my message. Today I actually made a second MOC and although it's not starwars related I did it with the bloody remains of the Slave I & Arc spaceships my kids received from Christmas, plus a hoth skeleton as it reminded me of Captain Harlock spaceships. I posted some more pictures on the Lego SciFi board (I had locked up my wife to avoid looking ridiculous so the pictures quality is slowly improving :D)
  20. As it my first message here I'll copy/paste the few lines of presentation from the starwars forum. I'm just coming out of 20 years of Dark Age...but now with 5 kids ! 3 of them were covered by Star Wars goodies this christmas, including a few boxes of Lego Star Wars. I quickly rediscovered the addiction of putting together bricks & plates, with the increased possibilities of Star Wars licence, new color tones, and new bricks/technics I wouldn't have dreamed of when I was a kid. It killed by pocket money as well (my wife has recently ordered me to stop buying legos...never marry an engineer :D) Anyway, as I've been lurking this forum for quite a while, I know that 1. No matter what my first MOC looks like you'll have infinite benevolence 2. Because we can never get enough legos and a stale forum is sad 3. Average Joes MOCs have a noble mission : making you appreciate even more competition MOCs with gazillions of bricks & talent ;) My second boy had just finished his slave I SW ship and wanted to show it to his mum...He fell down from the stairs and the ship exploded like there's no tomorrow. I quickly stealed a few dark-red bricks to build some R-type derivative I had in mind (leaving my boy hysterical on the floor :D). I still have color issues due to limited bricks. Actually with the skull it reminds me of Captain Harlock spaceships. Thanks for watching !
  21. Hey, great lightsaber ! Too bad chrome parts seem to cost an eye :( I'm just coming out of 20 years of Dark Age myself...but now with 5 kids ! 3 of them were covered by Star Wars goodies this christmas, including a few boxes of Lego Star Wars. I quickly rediscovered the addiction of putting together bricks & plates, with the increased possibilities of Star Wars licence and new color tones. Average Joes MOCs have a noble mission : making you appreciate even more competition MOCs with gazillions of bricks & talent ;) So like we say in french...dont acte ! Here's a little picture of a lightsaber I quickly made for the only kid who didn't have a toy torchlightsaber this christmas. I happen to like it better than bland plastic models with blinding LEDs. There are some color issues due to our limited set of bricks. Sorry for the bleh picture quality, my camera is pretty bad and I was in a rush to avoid being seen by my wife (it's painful enough seing your husband become an AFOL :D). I took this one to show the crystal on/off button. And this one to better show (with a little less...aheum...bloom) the proportion. I haven't found how to put 8 black 1x8 plates around the bottom of the handle (instead of 4 with half-pins), if anyone has an idea.
