I did and it works 'ok', but I found that just moving it around is enough to cause issues (ball dropping on the lift). Really careful timing set-up seems to be so crucial to my particular version of the build. I think I could probably get it working really well if I had time (lots of hours) to sit and fettle it. But at this moment its sitting in a cupboard with a 90% complete ball factory, a 20% complete pneumatic ball factory and other modules in various states of chaos. I'd really like to get it all finished and working, but simply don't have the free time unfortunately. As an aside this kinda reminds me that I was going to post up the work I'd done in Bricklink Studio to try and reverse engineer the pneumatic ball factory. THIS and THIS Again, I ran out of free time to fully complete this, but if anyone wants to use my files as a stating point for a community effort to get the modules working and plans ready to share - that would be good with me. …and finally has anyone done any work on reverse engineering THIS chaps modules - some of them are quite amazing. I've asked him if he'd sell instructions, but I've never had a reply. It's not like I have time to build them, but I'd like to at least have the instructions in my file and an excuse to buy even more technic bricks.

I just wondered whether anyone can point me in the direction of the correct lego iOS app to use for programming the Control+ hub? I bought one (along with motors) assuming it could be programmed in a similar way to the Boost Hub - as I want to use it as part of a GBC build. However, the PoweredUp app will only connect if the hub is set-up (motors connected) for the 4x4 model - and even then I'm unable to access any kind of programming functions. Slightly worried that I've wasted my money. Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Tried asking him direct without any luck unfortunately. -
Thanks. I like the switch from bricks to liftarms - looks much better.

Thanks, when you get around to it could you also show some detail pics of your updated marble run too? Which motorbike wheel did you use for that build? If it's easier to share via email drop me a pm. Thanks

I'm blindly optimistic that it'll function perfectly - given that I've had endless problems with my Invisible lift and not found the need to smash it to pieces, I can't believe this will be any more frustrating! :-)

Well this is awkward… a couple of days ago I placed a whole bunch of orders for parts to build the rotary dumper ? if I’d have seen the above I may have thought twice about it.

@Berthil could you post some detail pics of the top exit ramp modifications you made to your invisible lift? I'd like to do this to my build. Thanks :-)

The one thing I found with the v2 train module is that the switch needs to be the version without the friction detents. When I first built the motor module I couldn't understand why the reverse mechanism wouldn't work and it was only by chance that when I was fiddling around with a spare switch that I noticed it moved smoothly - unlike the one I'd put in the build. With the switch swapped it worked flawlessly.

if you [control]+[click] on the application you'll get an alert window which allows you to override that problem and [open] the app. Once you've done this it should open normally from then on.

You probably need to download Bricksmith - the complete v3 + LDraw install rather than just the v3 app. Once this is installed you'll be able to open the instruction files. Once you have a file open you can do a piece count from the Tools menu - which can be exported as a .txt file - pity it can't export a bricklink .bsx file though.

I did some more work on the Invisible Lift this weekend. First job was to move the power module - the XL motor now lives under the cam/lever mechanism on the right hand side. I carefully lubed everything with WD40 Specialist Dry PTFE lube - this make a HUGE difference everything runs much more smoothly. The change also improves the aesthetics of the feed section and means a shorter feed ramp. I have a separate motor powering the feed stepper which is now housed under the hopper. It almost works correctly now. I reset all the timing - using The Rebrickers' youtube video as reference. I still have a couple of antennas that refuse to align correctly, but the hand crank means I can see much more clearly whats going as the mechanism moves. I've posted more high res pics to my Bricksafe page HERE hope they're of interest to someone.

I've been sword fighting with my invisible lift - when I first completed it everything worked well, but it simply refuses to hold the balls correctly now. grrrrrr Looks like I'll have to take it apart and rebuild it again… Anyway, I've also been doing some work on a waterfall exit. I've uploaded a pic to BRICKSAFE and will upload more later. Balls are dropped onto a short 'tube ramp', they then run down a 'liftarm ramp' before dropping into the waterfall chute zig zag. When 7 balls are in there it tips them out. The liftarm chute attaches at two points - one of the towers and the base. I wanted it to look as elegant as possible.

Just finished a cycloidal drive. It works but is very laboured. Tried it with a power supply rather than a battery pack and it’s still not as smooth looking as Akiyukis. Even tried removing the steeper from the equation - without luck. Any suggestions? l’m thinking that the L motor might need to be swapped for an XL?

I’m working on a waterfall- which gathers x number of balls before tipping/dumping them out to cascade down a series of tracks to hopper height. Hope to have a pic to show later in the week. Still having major issues with the lift though. Looks like I’m going to have to remove and reassemble all the ‘grabbers’.

I'll probably have a separate box module which I'll use (clip on) when running a module on it's own, but my intention is to have everything linked together so one module feeds another. I can already see that the modules I'm building are very much 'one-by-one' movers, so adding waterfall collectors/dumpers between modules will probably be required to make sure subsequent modules are fed with a number of balls at once. this is the worst kind of pastime for an obsessive…

I've got three other modules in progress: 'ball sorter', 'fork-to-fork' and 'cycliodal'. I'm also working on a waterfall to catch the balls from the invisible lift and dump them into the hopper of what ever follows… I'm also planning a single 'thrower' version of the basketball shooter and a 2 grab version of 'triggered by a stuck ball'… and eventually the crane loader.

Typical, the Invisible lift was working ok, but as soon as I point a camera at it to make a movie clip… I decides to drop every ball. It's a mix of the antennas not gripping the ball securely, one set of antennas knocking the balls out of the previous set or the grabber at the top fumbling them. Driving me mad…

Here's a pic of my take on the invisible lift. The basic build of the lift modules was pretty straightforward - working from Blackbird's pdf, but I spent hours and hours reworking the drive module as I felt it was over bricked (no offence meant). I had about 10 different versions before I settled on this one. I didn't like the way the XL motor sounded when it was powering everything, so I added a small motor to power the steps and the tooth in the hopper. I'll eventually swap the battery box out for a train controller. The other thing I wanted to change was the chute from the loader to the lift. Again this took hours to get right. Every version seemed either over bricked or too flimsy. I think this one fits into the aesthetic I was striving for - and it's very robust. I also reworked the exit ramp as I wasn't keen on akiyuki's and need the balls to feed in a particular way for the next module. Function wise the lift is pretty good, it's not perfect, but I'm only getting about 1 drop in 20 balls.

Thanks for the reply. I'll have a play with alternate axles, but I've also ordered a can of dry PTFE lube - let's see if that fixes the problem.

Does anyone have a cure for sticky/sluggish springs on the invisible lift? I’m having problems with a couple of sluggish return springs on each side. I’ve looked at rebrickers build videos and tried swapping pieces around, but nothing seems to fix the issue.
