  1. This is amazing, I would have never thought to use those pieces like that!
  2. It's not like we can't just read the book (gasp! what are those things?) to find out what happens and who dies. And the trailers/ posters show what the set designs and costumes look like anyway, so what is Jackson really protecting?
  3. I'm pretty sure I remember reading that Lego does not have the license to release battle packs/ CMF lines because another company has the action figure license (or something like that) so all mini figures have to come with some type of building set.
  4. Huh, I didn't notice that in the movie. That's an interesting design choice since it really isn't the traditional dragon we see in the Howe/ Lee illustrations.
  5. I remember Smaug being a standard "4 limb 2 wing" dragon. Could you post a picture or explain what you mean?
  6. I've heard several people say that Lego might be hesitant to make a Balrog because parents might not like the "demonic" appearance. But would a Balrog really be any worse than this: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/PYROX-44001?fromListing=listing ?
  7. I never collected them, but wasn't the HP line popular? If it was, Lego certainly missed out on many scenes and characters. So can't we use that as a comparison? I'm sure many people were disappointed when the HP line ended and my gut (sadly) tells me I'm probably going to be disappointed the LOTR line.
  8. I personally don't have a problem with large molds. In fact, I might even say I'd prefer a large Smaug mold over a brick built. Just curious though, is it easier and or more cost effective for Lego to make a large mold or design and package a large brick built dragon? I remember when I first saw the new fantasy dragons I initially thought they were not very "Lego like" because they just seemed like a toy, but after a while I fell in love with them.
  9. Love your cutaway technique!
  10. Not sure how you feel about using unofficial Lego, but I've found this to be a good helmet for Rohan soldiers: http://www.brickforge.com/store/product.php?productid=16215&cat=252&page=1
  11. Has there been any word or anyone have an idea of what will happen when the next movie/ Lego wave comes out this summer? Will Lego keep both waves on the shelves or retire this current wave? Obviously six months is a short time to keep a wave on the shelves, but I don't see them running both waves at the same time either.
  12. Yep that did it. I don't know why my iPhone took me th AU site.
  13. The prices are still wrong for me. I wonder if I would get charged those insane prices.
  14. Has anyone else noticed the price increases on the Lego website? It seems like overnight many sets have increased as much as 50%! Does anyone know why this is? Helms deep for $199!!? Gandalf for $22? This seems excessive.
  15. I found a guy on Craigslist in my town who is a Lego/ Transformer picker and I got a like mint in the box Carribean Clipper and Forrbidden Island for $100. I'll be buying a Bsb for $80 in a week or two. I'll probably never buy from eBay again!
  16. Something like this is what I'm looking for to help with my mild OCD. I suppose my next question would be what is the best way to organize your Lego?
  17. It's funny you mention Ikea, I found This last night.
  18. I just moved to a bigger apartment where I have room to finally unpack my Lego. I want to set up Lego table but I need ideas. Something space efficient would be great. What kind of tables do you guys use? Post pictures if you can.
  19. I prefer to buy near mint sets with the box but not MSIB. Since shipping is based in weight, the box wouldn't add that much to shipping costs.
  20. Wow those prices are low but none of them have the box. Do you follow prices for boxed sets too?
  21. Determining average prices shouldn't be that difficult. We are the experts and the ones buying and selling these sets. My idea was to put our collective knowledge together to determine what the equilibrium price would be. (For those of you that haven't studied Economics, the equilibrium is the price where the supply curve intersects with the demand curve, thus giving you the true market price.)
  22. I managed to get a boxed Black Seas Barracuda for $200. The l Lego was in excellent condition, box fair to good. I also got an Eldorado Fortress boxed for $90. Lego was mint box was good. I feel I got good deals I both but for sets like ITP or SES they seem over priced.
  23. In my quest to purchase the remaining classic pirate Lego I need, I often find it difficult to know what a good deal is. Many eBay and Brick link sellers seem to price their goods too high. So I thought maybe we could help each other get an idea of what fair prices are for used classic pirate Lego. I'm not sure how we can do this, there already is a thread for latest purchases but maybe we could share in a separate page what we are paying for such sets so we could get an idea of what the averages are. Obviously we need to compare apples to apples so we would need to agree on the perimeters for determining condition of the sets.
  24. Well done. I like how you flipped the red coat torsos. I would like to see Rorke's Drift as well. You could try attaching the islander drum skin piece to the Zulu shield it would give you the appearance of cowhide.
  25. Since children will be in my near future I was wondering if any of you let your kids play with your Legos? I certainly want my children to enjoy Legos I'm just not sure how to go about it. Most of my collection is from the late 80s early 90s so they are quite rare and expensive so I'm not sure if I would want them playing with them. What do you or would you guys do?
