  1. Yikes!! Testor's decals it is for the time being. But seriously there has to be a cheaper pad print system out there. Maybe a built from scratch make could be done?
  2. I don't think thats what the OP is asking. I think they want to know if anyone can print the shiny metallic ink for minifigures. Example tlm096 or Emmet from the Lego Movie has the silver High Disability straps that are silver in color. That I think is the kind of metallic colors they mean. Also a bit off topic but I miss my silver 2x4 brick. The one from the 25th anniversary bucket.
  3. Definitely got to figure out pad printing. By chance does anyone know the correct ink/paint best suited to Lego like quality?
  4. Sorry got off topic.
  5. I saw your methods there. That works well for a sticker look. The Octan logo is nicely done and looks true to the era. But I do not have a Laser printer. Too costly to invest in one at the moment. May get one at some point. Getting the paper isn't my problem I live about 20 min away from a Hobby Lobby and I can order em off of the Testor's Website if I can't get there. My problem is current funds. Stupid fixed incomes only allow so much frivolous purchases.
  6. Thanks Lux (May I call you that? ) I'll do that for sure to get feed back I've only made one custom decal so far so I'll wait to start it till after I get a few more. I only wanted to be sure on how this worked. Better safe than sorry am I right? Good luck to you on your projects. Oh by the way does anyone know if there is a font for the Octan logos than can be used in text programs? I want to have that for a decal I'm making in honor of my Grandpa.
  7. Ah I see. Still ring a bell in my head. I think it may have been a Toy customizer I watch who I saw them from. Shame they have such varying quality but not everyone can be LEGO now can they? Thats a cool looking lantern for Sam there but isn't Frodo the one who gets stabed by the Morgal Blade? Um Mr. Wraith you got the wrong hobbit there. What do you mean all short guys look alike!! Blasted ghost see if I don't make a PG 3000 and put you in a painting!!! The nerve.
  8. Small question to everyone but If I make custom decals I want to share would I post them here? Also I did some searching on bricklink and I found that Nick, Laura and Nubby's torsos are quite easy to come by. But Nancy and Mama don't have coresponding torsos. Whats more Nancy and a few other female Lego Islanders have no exsisting head of a classic sunglasses with lipstick. Unless I'm not looking in the right place.
  9. I just tried Open office. It worked awesomely. My print kept it's look down to the last Pixel and was at the right size. Now I just need to get Decal Paper, clear coat and a few blank heads and torsos and I can make my Minifigures. Must say thank you to the OP for giving out the measures and all for us.
  10. A excellent idea here. Hmm I wonder if those Cocktail tridents or what ever they were would be fixable to use. Possibilities. Also with that zweihander "There can only be one!!!! Burp I love ya man." Sorry too good a chance for a TF2 joke. Hmm interesting but not sure how useful it could be for making props. I'm not cutting up a charger cord for a whip for Johnny Thunder now. But if you got some that have been ruined I guess that could work. Hey it works well enough. If it's hold-able by a minifigure and we don't have to sacrifice pieces to make our props then it's all good. Hmmm that toy line I swear I saw it on Shapeways at one time. Do you know more about them? It's quite a neat thing. Man makes me miss Technic Figures. Got to get a replacement Nick Striker and the others and the cyberslam gang. Thank the brickulator I got Brick Link. I can rebuild my collection as the Brickster would say "Brick by brick."
  11. Hey I think I've seen your store before. You never know I may be in need of your services soon. I want to try my hand at it first you understand. Good luck on the shop's growth though.
  12. Hey again all, I had a thought and I'm sure we all have used them as kids now maybe we can use them for our customs too. The Lego Minifigure hand is able to hold only certain items so it's always a surprise to find out non-Lego items that fit in their hands like a real element. One of my favorite things to do when I needed a sword for one of my Guys and only had a few element accessory as a kid was to use small pop rivets. The tip fit perfectly into the hand of a minifigure and the shaft that would be used to set the rivet in place after using the proper tool and it even had a small part that looked like a pommel. My dad had tones on the things and so I never had a time without a sword. Now after seeing the Lego movie and seeing the joke they did with Vitruvius' Staff after the time skip being a partly eaten Dum-dum lollipop it got me to wondering about what else is in the right size. Once I decided to start in the custom minifigure game I realized these could be used to make custom accessories that properly fit in their hands and not sacrifice any element (A major thing I'm not for is using nail polish remover or Brasso to erase a face or decal on a torso.). Cause lets face it some pieces will only be made by Lego for so long and if we destroy them well they will get rare. So I thought we could make a list of items that could work as bases. Anyone else have any thoughts or stories?
  13. Excellent help as well. Thank you for that. Your right the Microfiber does look like leather.
  14. Well that was short lived a thread. XD Thank you very much for the link.
  15. Hi all, Been looking around the MCW and I kind of found it odd that while we have a great resource on making Sails we don't have there is nothing in regards to Capes and the things much like them. So I thought I'd bring attention to it and start a topic to figure out the best kind of fabrics to use for capes and their cousins. Now I'm guessing that a real Lego cape is a Nylon Fabric seeing it holds it's form and curves around a Minifigure as opposed to draping over them flatly. But I'm no expert so anyone have a good match for them? Note: I haven't had a Lego cape in ages (Last one was from the Star Wars sets back when they still had Yellow skin so before 2000 XD) so I'm not sure if the fabric has changed in recent years. Pardon me for that.
  16. Hmm gonna have to watch out for the air coat fuzz thing. I want my figures to look nearly as good as a real Lego Minifigure. Wish I knew what type of paint/sealent they use in the factory cause it ca last for ever if you don't scratch at it too much. I've already heard of how to keep the shine with gloss clear coat as I aslo am into Model Railroading as a hobby. But this is the first time I've heard of the Clear coat fog. Any advice for the best quality air to keep it clear?
  17. Um hello I have a simple request for a decal. Well I hope it is simple anyway. Can anyone point me to the torso decal from Builder Pete? I want to try to make the full cast of Lego Island and I need that decal to make Nubby. Also does anyone know if Mama Brickolini, Nick Brick, Laura Brick and Nancy Nancy Nubbins have custom designs or if their torsos were real decals at any point? Oops almost forgot to post. Um well it seems I can't post images from the Brickopidia Wiki or anything yet. Sorry.
