  1. Looks great!!! I've held off on starting this since finishing the Falcon, but I think this will be my project for 2017 :D
  2. Every time I look at this I see new, cool details. So good
  3. It's out of stock on the UK Lego store for the 3rd time recently. And this time there's no 'expected back in stock date'. I do wonder if my source that told me it was discontinuing was right.....
  4. Not really got a list. You can see a lot of my subs in the first post however I tried to do as much as possible with the correct colours, and only swapping if parts were rare or much more expensive. But you can also see from the subsequent photos of the frame etc before i covered over much of what will not be seen. You could do the whole of the inside in some bright garish bricks if they were cheap and you'd never really notice from the outside.
  5. Thanks H_Solo! I'm definitely not looking at it thinking "this looks a bit naff and needs more details" (not yet at least). So I think any mods would only be to really improve functionality (like the engine area if I wanted lights) or things that annoy me (like the dish due to the sticker being crap).
  6. Good to hear. I've got a lot of UCS sets but I'm really looking forward to this
  7. Nice TBH I've spent way over £1000 on Lego in the last month or so. I need to stop for a bit! However I'm also contemplating Cavegod's AT-AT, so there may be no hope for me
  8. Thanks Lobot. I bought a sticker from an ebay seller. It looks good from a distance but close up it's not so good (scratched and bubbly as the adhesive was crap). I'm probably going to do a brick-built one (round or rectangular) at some point soon.... I did wonder about doing DS2. But I've read a few threads about it not being very solid once assembled, and also not sure if it will really look that great on display to make it worth the effort. I'd much rather do a Y-Wing or ISD
  9. Thanks chaps - such an amazing model and I can't stop looking at it whenever I'm around it
  10. Thanks Dave. I was looking at yours in more detail and you've changed a lot of greebling, Was the aim to make it look more like the real thing, or just to add more detail to make it more interesting?
  11. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're done! Will take some better photos on daylight at some point, but then you all know what one of these looks like anyway Taken me a lot longer than the other UCS sets I've built. But I think a lot of that is due to having to keep finding parts among the myriad of plastic bags. There's a few pieces I'd like to change, and some mods we've already discussed that I'd like to consider, but for now I'm just going to enjoy looking at it (and figuring out where to put it!). No more Lego for a few days, at least until the Death Star I ordered yesterday arrives
  12. Just ordered the 10188 Death Star
  13. That's pretty good as well! Have you got a close-up please?
  14. Thanks Dave. So am I right in thinking that to do the flaps I should first do the curved engine mods?
  15. The other thing I notice is the 'flaps' above and below the engine represented using the little levers look a bit 'naff' I guess. I wonder if there's a better way to do it. God I'm thinking about alterations already and I've not even finished yet
  16. Nearly there now I'm not sure if the top section is correct though. There's quite a big gap around the front half of it compared to where it meets the rear plates?
  17. I've just ordered this Been lusting after it for ages and holding off but given the stock shortages and rumours of it being discontinued, I've taken the plunge.
  18. Ahh yes sorry ScottishDave I think I might have a go at that then. Will build the 'normal' version since I've got the bits and to tide me over, but next time I'm bricklinking I think I'll get parts for yours. Although if H_Solos one doesn't require many parts might get those too
  19. Hmmm I do like that H_Solo. What pieces did you need to do it exactly? I thought it was you who did the TFA dish, but my memory could be off
  20. Lots of progress over the weekend (will get some pics up later) and I've now started the various plating sections for the top of the hull. I just did the one that is on the rear quarter, that has a single black radar dish on it, and I was surprised that it is only held in place by one axle going into a technic 'hole'. Is that right??? The whole plate moves around freely and it feels quite in contrast to the rest of the build so far, which is very solid. Also my sticker for the main dish arrived and I'm really disappointed. The print quality isn't very good and it has bubbles that just won't go away What other dish options do I have? I'm wondering about doing that rectangular TFA one now.....
  21. No problem Regimus! Love your wall mount for the Falcon - I may pick your brains on that if you don't mind, as I'm mid-way through the build and I think I'm going to have to wall mount to keep the wife happy
  22. Generally the used parts have been pretty good. Normally the BL store says if the parts are worn. Most I'd say were indistinguishable from new at anything other than a close inspection.
  23. Nice! I wish I had the ISD, Vader's Tie, Y-Wing and DS2. I'm wondering about getting Red 5 but wonder if it's worth it given I've got the original X. The snowspeeder is very yellowed from being on display, probably will replace a lot of the white plates when I get the chance
  24. The old grey bits were the ones I could find in my box of lego from when I was a kid. Used them to save money, and so there was a bit of my childhood in the Falcon. I was considering using them on top to make the Falcon look more 'battered' but decided I didn't really have enough for the effect so am mainly using them underneath or inside where possible. Same with some of the Technics parts - I had a load from when I was young, like the 1x16 bricks that I've used for the main frame. I just ordered DBG where they'd show in the mandibles. When choosing new or used I tended to just go for what used to save money, but some bits are new if they were hard to find or if I got them from Lego themselves.
