Warm greetings from Germany
estephano (DE) replied to estephano (DE)'s topic in Hello! My name is...
Seems you're German/Austrian/Swiss, so no need for a translator I guess... Yeah, you're right - I'm more into the 80's and early 90's sets than the new ones. What I don't like at all with new sets are the fenders on cars (way too large) and the large pieces on airplanes, helicopters, caravans, etc. Don't get me wrong, there are some really beautiful new sets out there, such as 5891, 6754, 8403 or 7641, but the look of the new sets simply isn't the same I used to know when I was a kid back in the 80's. Hi Skalldyr, what part of Germany are you from? I'm located in Stuttgart aka Benz-Town Btw, I instantly fell in love with your "The Adventures of Tintin" minifigs. They are awesome! Very well done -
Thx a mill for your lightning fast reply!

WOW, I really like this ice cream parlour a lot! Very well done, Red Brick! It looks so simply, but saying this it feels so classic and oldschool, just like back in the mid/late 80's. Where did you get the ice cream balls in the golden cups from? Did they come with a set back in the 80's or early 90's???

Red Brick, you've made a very good point! That's the way I'm gonna do it: keep the first and take apart future projects after I've taken pictures of them for my gallery.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
estephano (DE) replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Today I received more informations from a Lego rep at the Müller store in Stuttgart on the series 3 roll-out for Germany. Initially it had been planned to ship series 3 to stores by mid-November so they could go on sale before christmas. However this roll-out was thrown back and he confirmed that series 3 won't be available in stores before January. Although he wouldn't give me a concrete date as to when in January they would be available his informations matched with the one I got 2 days ago. So since Lego won't ship until mid-January due to their season holidays going until Jan. 9th, I guess we (Germans) won't get to see series 3 until Jan. 15th-20th. -
Thank you all for your really nice comments on my first MOC. It's great to hear such a positive feedback from experienced builders. Glad you've recognized that little gimmick! I did that on purpose. The 80's and early 90's were my Lego time as a kid and I've always loved that red parrot that came with set 6251 back in 1989. So I really wanted to add a little gimmick from that period and was quite sure that most people wouldn't even recognize it. Here's one question I have for those experienced MOC builders on here: do you usually keep your MOC's when they are finished or do you take them down once they are finished and photos were taken of them? I'm still torn whether to keep them or take them down for other projects.

German toy company VEDES has sent me a nice little gift today: 4900-1 Fire Helicopter (polybag) --> 4900-1 at Brickset.com

I found my way back to Lego this year and since the Legoland/Town/City theme has always been my favourite I created a pizza snack stand being my first MOC in 17 years. I really hope you like it... it's simple, but fits well into the Town theme. The pizza snack stand has 2 stone ovens (1x large, 1x small), a built-in television, a telephone (or credit card reader if you like that better) and a small bar. Here are some photos... Feel free to leave a comment or suggestion. I'll be pleased to hear from you

Thank you all for your friendly comments! I really appreciate you liked my very first MOC in 16 years. I forgot to add some informations on my hobbies beside Lego... so here you go - Madonna and Kylie Minogue (I've been a die-hard Madonna fan since 1994) - collecting autographs (in person signed only - music and contemporary entertainment) - Music in general (I simply couldn't imagine a life without music) - Latin ballroom dancing - Photography and art in general As for collecting autographs in-person this is a hobby I'm pursuing very intensely since the age of 12. Each year I'm flying to the Berlin and Cannes film festival and have an average of 4 dates per week. Later on today I'll be after Herbie Hancock and Michael Flatley. Anyway, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. @KielDaMan: Nice of you to write some in German. "Welcome to Eurobricks" would be "Willkommen bei Eurobricks" in German and "I welcome you at Eurobricks" would be "I heisse Dich willkommen bei Eurobricks" -
The price you've paid is insane! It's a nice set, but over here in Germany (in Stuttgart to be specific) this set is sold for € 1.99 each - and that's the regular price I even paid last week when I bought a few of this sets.

Usually I'd always got for City as it's my favourite theme but as for the 2010' calenders I recommand to buy the Kingdoms calenders simply for it's mini figueres and some really nice extra pieces that are quite unusual

ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?
estephano (DE) replied to jngunsw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I actually asked my mum about it a few weeks ago since she used to clean my Lego when I was a kid. She said she had used a lingerie wash bag, stuffed the Lego pieces inside and washed them in the washing machine at 40° Celsius. According to her it worked perfectly fine. I haven't tried yet, but will indeed once it's becoming necessary. As for larger pieces and plates I used to put them in my dishwasher at 55° Celsius and this worked fine for me. -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
estephano (DE) replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As for Germany I was told today that series 3 will most likely not be in stores until mid-January since Lego has it's season holidays until January 9th and will start to roll-out series 3 after their season holidays. Nevertheless I'm still hoping for a box to show up in Stuttgart before christmas. I'm so crossing my fingers -
Hi everyone, this is Stephan sending you warm greetings from the cold & wintry Stuttgart (Germany). I was born in 1980 and as far as I remember I received my first Lego sets at the age of 5 (not counting Lego Duplo which I had before). I used to play with Lego until age 13/14 and got back into Lego fever this year. Well, what I mean is that I started buying Lego this year for the first time in 16 years, but although I haven't played it for 16 years Lego always had a special place in my heart and I always awaited the new catalogues eagerly. Believe me, I'm so glad I'm back into buying and building Lego - I've missed it so much! I'm not a BNISB collector, like many others - I like to built my own creations and my favourite sets are actually these of my childhood ranging from 1985-1993/94, especially Legoland/Town/City. I buy a lot of used Lego off flee markets, collector stores and eBay and to be honest I don't really care if my Lego pieces are used or brand new. To me every used Lego piece has it's own history and that's far more important to me than a BNISB. Here's my first MOC that I built a few weeks ago. It's a pizza snack stand with 2 stone ovens (1 large, 1 small), a built-in tv and a telephone. I really hope you like it, I think it fits well into the Legoland/Town/City theme. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask!
