  1. I disagree. It makes the mask game easier and thus a lot more fun! It was a pretty ingenious idea honestly.
  2. It has became generic over time because it works. Are all creative types hipstery? Nothing is wrong with something generic, much less something generic winning. Creativity is in the eye of the beholder. What might be uncreative to you can be extremely creative to someone else. The whole point was to make something large and imposing. Anything without wings just wouldn't be able to beat that MOC in the judging process, since wings make a shadowy character look like it could envelope its enemy.
  3. We have no confirmation that the line is ending, and the people who claim it us need to hop back up on the fence with the rest of us until we get some true evidence from LEGO itself. The community is part of what's wrong with BIONICLE. Instead of positively talking about design inspirations, new exciting world-building and lore added by Windham, and getting the community as a whole involved in exciting fan projects, everyone is trying to predict BIONICLE's doom either to gain fame for a few seconds or create a dreary atmosphere. It needs to stop, and the community needs to actually support the theme with artwork and other creative things, promptly displayed for all to see.
  4. Possibly, but that's not set in stone. We know that like all story themes it's initially planned for a three year run, but if it's doing decent it can go on for longer.
  5. No. TLR is universally panned by BIONICLE fans, and if you think it was better than JtO then you're heavily blinded by nostalgia.
  6. Predictable plot? The bad guy winning seems like a departure from HF and most LEGO themes. It seems your expectations might have been too high from my point of view. The plot itself was fine for a child's TV series that wasn't planned to have more than four episodes. It was a lot more interesting than some of HF's mini-movies (no disrespect to HF, of course).
  7. I don't understand why some don't like JtO. I thought it was one of the better visual media to come from BIONICLE. It was certainly better than TLR and the third Miramax movie. Umarak's characterization was great, and for the most part the animation and artstyle was fantastic to look at. The only thing holding it back from being the best BIONICLE media ever released is the fact that they haven't turned it into a full-fledged 20-30 episode multi-seasoned show.
  8. That's literally the whole point. It's supposed to be venomous looking. It's not supposed to be pretty for all you MOCers out there, it's meant to look disgusting and corrupted, because it is. No one complained about the infected Hau back in the day. #CollectorMasterRace #MOCerPeasants
  9. It's impossible for Ekimu's shield to be attached to the arm the way it is. It's literally sitting on top of a shell.
  10. There is a really bad set, and that set is Lava beast. These sets just seem to slap piece on like a lot of Hero Factory sets, as opposed to using them to make shapes like the 2015 and 2016 Toa. It really upsets me that we're taking a step back like this.
  11. I'm not completely dismissing his thoughts. Perhaps my knack for being outwardly opinionated is my "Achilles heel". Even then, I believe it important that it's known that I disagree with the majority of the criticism these sets have received. Then again maybe I hold a grudge after he claimed that my thoughts on Tahu were invalid because he "had the set in hand". I admit my remark was childish, but my grudge is satisfied nonetheless. Acting like having the set in hand dismisses any point a person has for why they think a set is good just isn't right. It shouldn't be done.
  12. I disagree. I think it's creative and still works well. I happen to have Lewa. Also, your view points on Tahu? Yeah, I disagree with those too, and I have the set in hand, and he's pretty much the best Toa of Fire I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The view points of most reviewers just seems to be a bunch of cynicism, since these sets are overall more fun to play with and better looking than the 2015 Toa. The 2015 Toa were great, but I've been seeing the same shell design year after year since I also liked HF. I wanted this change, and I hope LEGO continues to move in this direction. :D
  13. Aww man, it's BIONICLE meets Borderlands! Yesssss. <3
  14. His weapons aren't oddddd. They're Tonfaaaaaas. Why are so many people culturally ignorant? <.<
  15. Ryder Windham confirmed that the G2 BIONICLE characters are biomechanical. Meaning that they're both biological while having mechanical components. This was also confirmed in the animations upon finding out that the title of Protector was passed down from father to son. Reproduction confirmed right there. Then there's the fact that the Protectors we see laying Ekimu to rest have all died and the ones that call the Toa are their descendants, to further solidify reproduction and the biomechanical nature of the inhabitants of Okoto. "Robots" is the incorrect terminology for beings that are both mechanical yet made up of biological tissues and capable of various biological functions
  16. They're not pitiful. They're supposed to be tonfas...
  17. From a toy perspective, certain parts of design still remain true. Specifically functionality, durability and posability. When we start getting into things like colorschemes and proportions, that's a whole different whale that more analytical people care about.I look into reviews as a collector and thus look at it from an analytical perspective, but I also have a younger brother who has autism, and for him I need to know if a toy is good from a playability perspective. All I'm asking is that at some point in the future there be a split where a product is reviewed two times for different criteria especially in an age where the internet is getting more easily accessible for children who won't be able to understand our qualms with the sets.
  18. Last time I checked you also have a habit of being pretentious. It's unwise to be such a hypocrite. The argument itself isn't silly, since some people look into a review for different things. People looking for a toy and people with a collector's mindset have two very different needs that need to be met. I'd consider evaluating who you call pretentious next time you decide that someone's argument is "silly" just because you yourself don't care for it.
  19. You've made a slight error there. Tahu's arms DO reach his hips, in fact, they go past them. He benefits from not having his shoulders as high up as the smaller sets. The legs are alright. Might not be your cup of tea, but they're just fine to me (I have slender lanky legs sooooo).
  20. I actually love Tahu's color scheme... I guess I'll be the odd man out then. XD Clashing textures are a problem though. The four main pistons on the abdomen of the torso piece are fine, as are the two around the collar area. The others though? They don't add anything and they just make it look messy. While I do hope they continue on with a more detailed presence in their figures, they really need to work on cohesion and color coordination.
  21. Guys... these are toys. Meant for children. Pieces of plastic. These aren't S.H. Figuarts collectible action figures. Their quality, despite detail inconsistency, is already higher than a lot of action figures you could buy at the store. At least these action figures aren't stuck in stupid asymmetrical poses and have several points of articulation. Seriously though, sometimes I wonder if fans and reviewers are looking at these the right way. I'd almost prefer to have two different reviewer types on every site, reviewing how something performs as a toy and giving it a score based on that principle, and then someone else reviewing it with a collector based mindset. XD ...That said I agree with both of you and heavily dislike the new torso piece. The four pistons connecting to the chest, and the two near the neck are fine. The rest need to go though, because... there's a difference between good detailing, and just putting pistons everywhere for the sake of putting pistons somewhere. I'd also have preferred that the chest piece itself be composed of a shell and an add-on, but I can do without it. I'm not the type to MOC anyway.
  22. Is it possible to pose the paws OVER the shoulders like in some of the images that show him combined with Melum? I think the combiner would look pretty sweet with a small change like that. It's imperative that I find out. XD Anyway, this review was pretty spot on with how I feel about the set, and the pistons really don't seem all that bad on the white torso. That blue can be obnoxious though, I might replace it with Kopaka 2015's thigh armor since it's the same piece.
  23. Truthfully, aside from the color problems, I think Kopaka has this very... epic look to him. It could just be me loving the MoL portrayal of his character, but that's what this Kopaka's overall build and mask remind me of. I also find his shoulders to be the bees knees. XD He's certainly my favorite of the Toa, with Lewa behind him and Tahu possibly coming after Lewa. My first purchases are definitely going to be Umarak and Kopaka.
  24. I think Gali is good-okay. She has problems, but she's not bad. I like her concept, I like the coral like armoring the orange parts provide, I love her color scheme, her new mask looks like Nokama's movie mask, so yeah. She looks good, her proportions don't look bad when she's holding a weapon, which she'll always be doing when I have her anyway, and yeah. She's good. Not bad, not great. Just good.
  25. I'm not too keen on the price everyone assumes he'll be, although we have yet to have an official confirmation, $30 seems a bit too much for for a set that's a $15 set packed with a $10 set WITHOUT a Shadow Trap. LEGO probably has good reasons for the price though. I suppose the number of new molds he has might also increase his price. He does have: -Two of the new sword pieces -Three unity pieces -Two new masks -Two crystal add-ons -Two vorox armor pieces (while not old, they certainly hadn't been used in around 2-3 years) -The new torso piece -New hip piece -New torso shell -Eye stalk mold -Annnnnd the new hilt piece the Star Wars constraction sets also use, and THAT'S ONLY KOPAKA. Melum also has: -One unity piece -A new head mold -Four trans light blue claw pieces from CHIMA (while not new, they haven't been used as much as other pieces) -And two crystal armor add-ons, Kopaka and Melum come with all of the new pieces (bar the ST piece) in large quantities I like him, his coloring is questionable, but I think his design, especially those shoulders, looks top-notch and I'll be buying him along with Umarak as soon as the sets come out.
