  1. Rather than cinema theatre (not that it would be bad either), I'd like to see a, well, theatre. With a theatre hall and a stage and a few actors in costumes. :) That would be awesome. I think it could fit very well with the earlier modular buildings.
  2. I highly doubt that, the smaller skeletons are easily omitted from the figurehead and it can still remain more or less recognisable.
  3. IMO goats would be a somewhat surprising choice, I'd think a few other animal molds (like sheep or even donkey) would be higher on the priority list. Chickens sound more probable though - the brick built birds of the Medieval Market Village were quite awkward, after all. In case we do get new animals I hope they won't remain as rare as cows still are (appearing only in two big and expensive sets). Anyways, I'm waiting for the pictures before getting too excited. No offence to Beetlejuice.
  4. Nope, they are customs made by Swash Buckler. ( cf. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44422&st=0&p=778790entry778790 )
  5. I don't own either one, so I based my vote on the pictures alone. Both planes have their share of strengths and weaknesses, but in the end I voted for Spirit of Luis mostly because of those huge and rather heavy-looking wheels of Bi-wing Baron. They just make it look seriously unbalanced, too "toy-ish". Spirit of Luis also has too studs longer wingspan, which is nice.
  6. As far as I know the only we know about the rumoured windmill set is what Ferdik told, having seen a preliminary pic of this set in Brickevent: "A medieval windmill! New paint on animals. Dots on grey horse and on white pigs. Great Looking!" (quoted on page 2 of this very topic) White pigs have been interpreted to be stand-ins for a new sheep mold. We can only cross our fingers and wait for more news.
  7. As an accessory the ghost could have a chain (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30104) and maybe a ball attached to the end of it? But I wouldn't protest either if they would opt to make a female ghost instead, many "grey ladys" are known from folk legends (and Harry Potter) around the world. I would like to see some more mythical creatures. The following have been probably mentioned somewhere in this topic, but maybe a little repeating doesn't hurt? Gender:Male Occupation: Minotauros Type of headgear: brown or dark bley bull's head similar to CMF3 Gorilla guy, maybe even with detachable cow horns? Type of facial expression: If there would have to be a normal head underneath, it could really be anything... Color on torso/legs: brown or dark bley muscular bare upper torso, printed loin cloth on the legs Accessory: an axe or a polearm Gender:Male Occupation: Centaur. I know there's already a Brickforge version in existence, but it wouldn't hurt to have an official centaur too. This would probably be too big or expensive for CMF series? Maybe if there's going to be still more Harry Potter sets... Type of headgear: a Spartan helmet or long hair (in this they could choose the cheaper option) Type of facial expression: grim or angry Color on torso/legs: bare or barely clad upper torso and of course a new mold of horse body without the head part but studs to attach the human torso Accessory: If we had this figure, I would be perfectly happy even without any accessories, but of course a spear or sword or bow would make it even more readily playable
  8. I was hoping for a better werewolf, but well... it could have been worse too. Certainly it's still better than the old one. Otherwise these look very good. Of course I was hoping that the viking wouldn't have a horned helmet... but I'm not surprised. A printed shield is nice anyway. Kimono girl seems to have a red hair pin printed on the sumo hair. And the figure skater has scarier hairstyle than the mad scientist :P
  9. A few pages ago Estephano told that according to his queries Series 3 is coming to Germany in January, maybe only in the middle of the month due to the preceding holidays. With no other information I think it's safest to assume this is the case for whole Europe (well, some distant corners like Finland might be somewhat later still). Interesting to see whether the dots are different for the European release.
  10. Pretty much agree with Aanchir's points, though I wouldn't be exactly sure that flesh-tones will never spread to non-licenced sets. Who knows what happens in the long run? After all there's no denying that the old yellow approach doesn't include some PC problems: the argument on colourblindness isn't very convincing when it comes to significantly darker skin-tones. The difference between reality and Lego yellow is just so big. As commented above, Lando or Mace Windu wouldn't just be as recognisable as Luke or Han Solo if they were all yellow. This is surely one of the reasons why we haven't seen (and won't see, I predict) Lego sets depicting Sub-Saharan Africa. It would be a PR nightmare no matter what approach they would take. Only as long as the non-licenced sets concentrate on such cultures where the population is mostly somewhat light-skinned they can keep the PC question in the background and claim to be colourblind with some plausibility. I've only just grown out of my dark ages and as a consequence I don't own any flesh-toned figs yet. And I suppose I'm stuck with the yellow for the foreseeable future: all-out changing to flesh-tones would make my old stash of yellow minifig parts useless, and there's just too few licenced sets that interest me to acquire replacements in sufficient quantity and diversity. So when the time comes that I have the chance and the resources to buy those PotC sets that interest me, I will either prune the included minifigs from all usable parts or leave them in complete assembly as cast-off showcases. Latter would be preferable of course, but probably at least some parts (clothing, hats/hairpieces etc.) will be too good to be missed from my main collection.
  11. Such a set (supposing it would include at least a little bit of the mill building) would surely be loved by Castle fans too, maybe even City fans! Who wouldn't want an old half-ruinous water mill on the outskirts of his/her town, be it medieval or modern? Though if the rumours about Castle-themed wind mill coming out next year are true, there would suddenly be quite a funny abundance of available mill sets!
  12. The elf's bow is a new piece, yes. There are no barcodes, but it remains to be seen whether someone can come up with any other way of reliably and easily identifying them (apart from feeling them, which isn't that easy and reliable anyway). I'm not sure if I'm "buying" the elf's head/earpiece. But I'll surely be buying as many elves as I can. They'll make an elite archer unit for my village, with or without pointy ears. Most of the other figs look good too, either for spare parts or just as themselves.
  13. Shelley's book has been in public domain for a long time, so no problem with copyrights at least if they stay far enough from the more recent film versions. TLC has done Frankenstein's monster once before, after all. Space monster is certainly possible (especially as the series otherwise lack space theme), but I suspect it would then be called just that (space monster) contrary to a horror monster, which could more instinctively be called just a monster.
  14. On the other hand, as the number of the different figs gets lower, it gets more likely that you will get duplicates (even of that exact figure you did not want). Getting two of the same from the pool of 8 is twice as likely as from the pool of 16. Back when I found Series 2 I picked two bags and got two cops I had absolutely no interest in. If I wouldn't have heard of the barcodes later, I would probably have given up on the series completely. If the amount of differing figs is dropped, this might happen more and more often. Imo three series of 16 figs a year would sound more or less perfect. But that's just an opinion.
  15. While this opinion is as legit as any and might have been what the designers were really after, it is also quite obvious that most of the buyers (especially kids) interpret the tiny dragons as living things no matter what. After all, there's no easily conceivable other explanations for the impulse set wizard's ”familiar”. One can see it as a paper weight, for example, but I'm pretty sure most of the kids (Finnish ones at least) don't even know what that is nowadays. I doubt the designers wouldn't have taken this in account, even if they decidedly left the exact nature of the dragons ambivalent. Admittedly, the dragons seem to be purely decorative in Prison Tower Rescue. But why didn't they make the dragons grey, if figures or sculpures were what they were after?
  16. Thanks :) On another note, I started to wonder that of all the 2011 sets that we've seen, I'm not sure if any would really qualify as "impulse sets"? Could it be that some hitherto unknown impulse sets would still be released in spring, one or two Kingdoms-themed ones among them?
  17. Thanks for the informative and interesting review. I would really like to get this set for the village witch of my planned medieval town setting, but the set is absurdly overpriced at least here in Finland with €59.95... I mean, it's still just a small hut, even if it's from a licenced theme and all. Of course it has a lot of figs, but personally I have pretty little use for fleshies and Hogwarts uniforms. Last week I might have got the set for half of the price from the opening campaign of a new toy shop (all Legos -50%) - if only the date wouldn't have been misprinted in the advert. Argh!
  18. The next Narnia film (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) is coming out already in mid-December, and it's the first of the series that is not co-produced or distributed by Disney, which shied away from the series after the second one attracted too few viewers. So chances for any Narnia-themed Legos seem pretty slim. Maybe the Medieval Windmill will be the (only) spring release, and there will be a bigger batch of new sets in summer... As many have said, it would be pretty absurd to end/cancel Kingdoms line after only one wave of sets. Anyways, I hope Medieval Windmill will be as awesome as it sounds!
  19. In this series we will have up to five sports-themed figs (Surfer Girl, Speed Skater, Hockey Player, Skateboarder, Soccer Player), which is a major turn-off for me but surely a reason to celebrate for some. There will be some historic and such figures: Musketeer, Kimono Girl and Viking, maybe even Sailor and/or Artist. Then there's Monster, Werewolf and Mad Professor for the horror/fantasy/weird/etc. fans - and of course Garden Gnome, ha! For the normal city scenes (sans sports) there's at least Punk and Man with Safety Suit (well, not exactly normal), probably Sailor and Artist too. So, this time we have no space and no obvious musical figure either (you might count Punk, maybe). I'm interested in the enigmatic Monster and hope that the Werewolf turns out better than previous Lego werewolves, which have been more or less horrendous (in a wrong way). Musketeer and Kimono Girl sound very good too. Hopefully Garden Gnome will have a great red cap!
