  1. Cool, I am going to have to make one extra post then... Anybody here in Wellington keen on a brand new 8043 Motorised Excavator (sealed, mint box) - Version 2 (fixed parts and new manual) - $400 pick up in Johnsonville ?
  2. There is a 2nd one on TM... I am NOT permitted to PM you (cannot see forum profiles), but please go ahead and PM me !
  3. Thank you, Tobbe for the info. That is a no go then, considering how much extra weight all those solar panels would add. :) I see that this panel is from 1998, probably current technology could give considerably more power from that sized panel. Thanks again, it seemed like a good idea...
  4. Does anybody know, whether the Lego Solar panel would work for the Lego 8043 Excavator ? http://www.legoeducation.us/store/detail.aspx?ID=322&c=0&t=0&l=0 I am afraid that either it does not generate enough power or worse, uses an older type of power connector... This would be rather interesting, if could be substituted instead of the battery box somehow.
  5. Anybody up North Shore (Auckland) ? This person has some incredible Legos including a couple ancient sets at no reserve, very strictly pick up only: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=743500 I really like the small Ferraris and there are plenty of city sets, creator homes. But my favorites are the old ones, surprisingly they are not as valuable as I would have thought: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=200-1 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=263-1
  6. Bummer indeed. It was a deal too good and Warehouse should have planned for it better. They could have made a strict limit of 1 per customer made clear in the advertisement. It would be difficult to enforce. I don't advocate printing the fingers, if you bought one already... :) But at least they could have made a little effort in order to benefit more customers. So actually I blame them. I think they should have sold them for $50 a pop, 50% off the $100 they were marked in store. That would have given them more profit and would have benefited more end customers, in my opinion. For the record: I do buy/sell and trade Lego to recover the cost of my own hobby, but I am against emptying shelves of retailers and taking Lego away from kids. This is a fine line and could be a subject of long debate, but this is my personal opinion. None of my activities ever effected supply - demand. For the sake of full disclosure, the only time I've emptied shelves was an end of season clearance sale (75% off at Target in the States), but I believe that to be an exceptional case that can be justified.
  7. Thank you, CF, very kind of you to say. :)
  8. Who can blame them - it is clearly a loss leader. How much do you think they are loosing on each sold ? TW had these for $85 a few months ago, I'd say that is close to cost. For example: 1500x $30 would mean that they spent $45,000 to bring some potential customers into the store. But from a marketing standpoint they did not get the best bang for the buck - it was not even front page special! Or maybe was this for a tax write-off ? I think these would have moved pretty fast for $50-$60. I've been observing Jville Warehouse stock (b/c of an unrelated quest), there were at least 8 Pirate Ship's marked at $100 Monday night. I wanted to grab one to keep. But I can do without it, I already bought the shark off TM separately. Long time lurker, but this deal got me real excited. :)
  9. Here is a contradiction: ppl on BL dump their broken LA's while you yourself agree that there is nothing wrong with them ? I agree that they are adequate for most purpose and therefore there is nothing wrong with selling the parts on BL. I believe it is just a coincidence that some guys parted out 50+ technic sets to list a bunch of LA's (and other related technic parts) right now - it has nothing to do with the 8043 saga. I'd bet you that all LA's on BL are of the original version. I'd guess that someone will eventually add the new part to the BL catalog, but who knows. 100% agreed. Those are mostly the sellers with small quantity (4 to 8 pieces). But my original point was that there is no conspiracy that ppl just order the service packs to dump on BL. I am sure Lego's loss prevention has a way of filtering out genuine requests.
  10. I agree with your plea - people, be fair. But lets not be too judgmental, it seems to me that most new LA's listed on Bricklink actually come from sets. This becomes evident once you check the explosion of number of LA 'end' parts: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=61904&colorID=85 April - 69 May - 134 June - 152 July - 130 August - 302 September - 150 On sale in October - 2453 For the sake of full disclosure, my BL id is: nk4002r and I don't have LA's for sale and not planning to sell them in the future. :)
