I like that design a lot! Shame about the donut shapes being the wrong colour. Do you mind If I mimic elements of your design in my own MOC?

I bought it over the May 4th weekend (along with Slave 1 and Red 5 . . . Yeah, I'm not having a holiday this year , . . . and subsequently picked up a B-Wing from eBay . . . Yup, no hols for me. Not built any of them yet but I recently announced to a friend of mine that I was intending to start MOC on UCS scale Star Wars vehicles again (having already built a 7 foot SSD a couple of years ago), she asked if I would build an Advanced Tie Fighter (she's a huge Darth Vader fan). So. I'll be using this latest Tie Fighter as a basis for the scale for a new Advanced Tie and a Tie Interceptor MOC.

Joined to post to the superb SSD article, but may just start some of my own threads as I recently got back into building MOCs. Current interests are Star Wars UCS scale sets (Lego licenced and MOC) and Bionicle.

Hi there. New to this forum. Joined today just so that I could resond to this excellent build. I made a 7 foot SSD Executor a couple of years ago, using best guess measurements from photos of the studio model. I didn't go into the superb level of detail you have achieved on the engines, but put a fair amound of detail in the upper deck. I ended up selling it to fund a trip to see friends in the US, but have had requests to build at least one more since. Your model has inspired me to have another go, though I will still to the 7 foot scale and rework my original design. My proudest boast was that I never used glue and that the finished model was stable enough tobe picked up and tilted almost vertical. As soon as I have made the requisite number of posts I will start adding images of a couple of MOCs that I have built (SSD plus a birthday present for a friend). The very best of luck in getting this built.
