A bit of confirmation from Andy at FamilyGamerTV "Also positive is that the Starter Pack comes with much more than the Lord of the Rings, Batman and Lego Movie levels. Each of the franchises is included from the off with Level packs adding additional content. This gives players a taste of each franchise universe before investing more money in the full set of levels." http://www.forbes.com/sites/andyrobertson/2015/06/19/lego-dimensions-hands-on-preview

That's generally how all these toys to life games work. The NFC chip stores a tiny amount of data. Character name/type, statistics, xp etc. Everything else is in the games code itself. As far as I can tell, the internet connection will then be used to expand the game, as the initial release won't have the information needed for future characters beyond the 2015/16 waves, but patches/updates will allow for that.

Angry Birds 2016 Rumors & Discussion
wideawakewesley replied to Lordofdragonss's topic in LEGO Licensed
For those doubting the draw of A.ngry Birds, they've definitely failed a lot recently in merchandising, but the games still seem to be a big draw, especially for young kids. The videos we do on FamilyGamerTV are usually some of our most popular, especially A.ngry Birds Transformers. The movie should in theory (if it's good) light a fire under it and it's the perfect time for Lego to dip their toe in, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a one hit wonder and then they drop the license. -
http://www.rovio.com...ill-take-flight LAS VEGAS, Nevada– 8th June 2015– Rovio, makers of Grumpy Sparrows, the most downloaded mobile game ever, today announced a partnership with The LEGO Group to develop a line of construction toys. LEGO® Grumpy Sparrows will be available in spring 2016 to coincide with the release of The Grumpy Sparrows Movie, a full-length feature film based on the popular gaming franchise. “The LEGO brand has an unparalleled ability to connect with people through products that spark creativity and imagination. We’re really excited to build experiences together with this amazing best-in-class partner,” said Pekka Rantala, Chief Executive Officer of Rovio. “We are excited to bring Grumpy Sparrows to life in LEGO form, given the popularity of the game and its characters with fans of all ages, which will only be amplified by the forthcoming film,” said Jill Wilfert, Vice President, licensing & entertainment at The LEGO Group. “We seek partnership with globally relevant properties that offer a unique and rewarding play experience to our fans, and our designers are having fun developing building sets that leverage the engaging play and deconstruction found in the Grumpy Sparrows game.” Further details about the collection, available in spring of 2016, are not yet available. Update: Loving the auto-text replacement there mods

The clip with Wonder Woman shows her riding all three variations. On the technical side, I'm still trying to find out. I hope it's not a clunky choice you make in the game when you put a rebuild on the base.

Mortal Kombat 2 was part of Midway Arcade Treasures 2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midway_Arcade_Treasures_2 In theory that means we could see Minifigs of Mortal Kombat characters. TTGames have done a PEGI7 version of Deadpool, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

The original trailer featured arcade units for Defender and Robotron. Looking at games featured in Midway Arcade, I'd love characters from: Gauntlet Rampage Mortal Kombat

A glimpse of Dr Who

Vehicle rebuilds confirmed! Each vehicle and gadget has 3 versions. Plus Ghostbusters confirmed! http://mashable.com/...&utm_source=rss There's an intentional mistake in the video ;)

Maybe I'm just seeing hints because I want it, but in the gameplay of the latest trailer there's a Statue Of Liberty...all I can think of when I see it is Ghostbusters
-
On the blurry box shot, there were 44 minifigs (which includes the 3 in the starter pack). The current number of minifigs we've had confirmed is 39, some of whom I can't place in the lineup on the box. There are eight spaces to fill in the numbered line-up so I guess we'll get more than 44. Who do you think we're missing? The obvious ones for me are Ghostbusters and more Wizard of Oz.

Price drop at Amazon UK. Still waaay too much though.
-
Based on the discounting I've seen of that line, I'd say that's accurate, but that's what happens when you make films that are a poor imitation of LOTR. ;)

If you're in the UK and would like to pre-order, 365 Games have reduced prices to under £80 for all platforms http://www.365games.co.uk/page/lego-dimensions

Great to see these images. My wallet hurts already. We've posted up a video over at FamilyGamerTV, added credit to Eurobricks for the list in our video notes and we've added a few bits in there too (one speculative): 71205 - Team Pack: Jurassic World (Gyrosphere, Chris Pratt aka Owen Grady, ACU, Raptor) 71206 - Team Pack: Scooby-Doo! (Snack, Scooby, Shaggy, Mystery Machine) 71207 - Team Pack: NinjaGo (Blade Cycle, Kai, Cole, Boulder Blaster) 71208 - Team Pack: DC Comics (Joker, Harley Quinn) <- We hope

I'm still shocked that hasn't been ported to other platforms, I would have thought any exclusivity deal for the Wii U would have long since ended. If the port is simple, it'd be a good way for TTGames to make some extra revenue. Would be fun to see some of the characters from that game make it into Lego Dimensions. What do all of you think about the toy pad not having holes for studs on the underside (at least that's my understanding)? Seems like a missed opportunity for Lego fans to create crazy designs in which to embed the toypad and portal. I'm also intrigued by the ability of the toy pad to support seven RFID connections and the technical reason why you may need to put a figure on the raised disc part for it to be detected, if the whole toy pad is RFID enabled.

I love the breadth of licenses involved, especially considering the likely enforced absence of Disney properties. There really does seem like there's something for gamers of all ages. The possible inclusion of Chell from Portal would be huge for the game as a crossover for gamers who don't normally buy the Lego games. I'd love them to try and incorperate different figure types in future and broaden the universe out to support the Friends/Elves figures and maybe even Mixels in some fashion. My greatest wish though is to see The Goonies Lego Ideas set brought to life in Lego Dimensions. I will beg Arthur Parsons (TTGames) until I'm blue in the face to get that!

My kids and I are Lego mad, although I think all of you have us beat! Update: There's been a few comments on the video suggesting I've used just2good's work without giving credit. For transparency, I genuinely hadn't heard the name just2good before someone commented. I immediately investigated and found he has a youtube channel with a video along the same lines and is a member here. I can with 100% honesty state I did not knowingly duplicate his work, but I have reached out to him to say thank you in case his efforts did inspire/inform our video (https://storify.com/wideawakewesley/lego-dimensions-conversation). I've also asked the channel owner to ensure we thank just2good in our video description as a sign of good will. Eurobricks forums and just2good are both new to me and he's obviously a dedicated Lego fan that works hard on his videos.
