  1. Great quest ideas! I especially like the Escort and "Rum Raid" missions. Good stuff, thank you very much.
  2. Cherno

    Boats!

Good example of a smallish fishing boat. I'm not sure about the stern section, though; The rudder looks alright, but the grey quarter-circle and the white railings, i dunno. The fishing net full of fish is a fun detail.
  3. Cool design, looks very "piratey" to me. Better photos would benefit your model and be appreciated!
  4. I agree with you, The voodoo shack would be fun. Also the voyage to World's End in the chinese-style djunk through cold waters through high ice canyons. Ice-themed MOCs are rare, so that one would surely be a hit.
  5. I'd like to add that the wooden stand the ship sits on really enhances the look alot. Ideally every big LEGO ship should have one of those
  6. I'd absolutely WANT to see a ship battle involving the Kraken, as it is by far my favorite monster. It could either be inspired by that awesome "dwarf-ship gets attacked by Kraken"-diorama i once saw here, or one could just build a few massive tentacles that threaten to pull the ship asunder. A full minifig-scale version of the Kraken would probably be too huge.
  7. Love the custom bicorne hat of the officer and the gray zombie-style head of the pirate captain! The new-style skull-and-crossbones on the pirate's head looks a little too cartoonish for me, though, but i guess it works with the bland undead expression on his face
  8. It says the bricklink gallery folder is not yet public The pictures are somewhat blurry and dark, can you try to make some better ones? It surely would to your ship justice, because i see a very cool checkered yellow-and-red bed as well as a great chandelier in the captain's cabin, for example!
  9. Nice scene, very lively. The musician is my favorite Things i would change a little: The green plate looks weird as a basement floor, and the brown wall with the blue windoes could use more details. Maybe add a chimney to the roof as well. Otherwise, very interesting!
  10. Great work! The episode about the parlay gave me an idea of a new storyline: It would be funny to show how the pirates have become overly buerocratic, with countless committees for each and every aspect of pirate life and an unflexible hierarchy, while the government troops are really unstructured und basically do everything without much discussion beforehand
  11. Cool idea to make it seem like the captain and his lackey are bound to that palmtree And those little tires as some sort of headgear (afro?) are also pretty funny. €: Just noticed... WTF is that Islander doing to old King Kahuka?!?
  12. I won't even go into any detail. These are just perfection, period. Then again, those sails and rigging deserve to be mentioned as being particularly good-looking.

  14. Ok, time to revive this thread The basic outline of my planned game is taking shape, it will basically come down to a random assortment of places the players can visit with their ships, buying cargo in ports, hiring crew members, doing quests for NPCs. Now, I need some cool ideas for quests, divided into general tasks that could be done anywhere and for everyone (like "Kill 10 Sharks" or "bring me 5 Prisoners i can use as slaves", "use these poisoned bananas and this catapult to bombard the monkey-infested island over there") and also some missions for the "special" places: Soldiers: Broadside's Brig Sabre Island Imperial Outpost Eldorado Fortress Islanders: Crocodile Cage King Kahuka's Throne Forbidden Cove Enchanted Island Neutral: Imperial Trading Post Pirates: Smuggler's Shanty Rock Island Refuge Shipwreck Island Forbidden Island Voodoo Lady's Swamp Shack Please feel free do post any ideas you might have; perhaps someone has seen a lot of pirate movies or read pirate books and post some inspiring ideas from these sources
  15. This MOC has a staggering amount of details for sure. Very cool looking floor boards, and the little toy ships are a funny idea. It's a great idea to build everything a little bigger than normal to create the illusion of a small child in his room. The "blood" might just be some spilled grape juice However, i don't know what to make of those white, blue and red 1x1 round plates... are those toy soldiers or candy?!? Also, why is there a chicken wing in the clamshell? Cool scene!
  16. Very cool idea to use those transparent blue parts for a bottle. You obviously have thought of every detail, like the cork cap, the chain and the support under the bottle. The Black Pearl is, for it's small size, pretty recognizable as well. A nice example of pirate-themed MOCs that are not based on normal ships or buildings.
  17. I'd be interested in some more detail shots of the small ship, preferably form all sides, as i might 'borrow' your design for a small merchant vessel for my growing fleet...
  18. Cool scene, i like how the small pirate treasure hunting party just discovered the fabled fountain of youth in a small clearing. The way they look down onto it could be right from a movie. The water running down the fountain itself might look even better if the curved slope bricks were bright blue too, but then again i can't say if those are even available in that color.
  19. A good looking ship! The bow sail is a tad small, and apparently those pirates never have heard of ironing their sails before heading out onto the sea But otherwise it's really nice.
  20. I like it! Your small ship/boat looks cool for it's size, and the fort has a good amount of details. The little bench on the beach is really cool
  21. It sure sounds nice, but I wonder how you handle player interaction? Is there any reason for players to engage or trade with other players, or is everyone just doing their stuff side-by-side? Thanks for the explainations so far!
  22. Using minifig arms as pistol handles in Jack's waistbelt ist clever, as is the way his boots are constructed.
  23. I really like your idea of random encounter tables based on the sea zone! It certainly would take away from the time needed to plan things beforehand and just let things happen a little bit more randomly :) Do you have any winning conditions set, or is it more of a role-playing experience where you just do encounters and missions until it's time to pack things up? I'd be very interestied in learning more about your various tables. Maybe you could post them, if you have them available in digital form? Many, many years ago, I had a little carpet floor fight with a friend of mine involving LEGO pirate ships, too. We didn't use much in the way of rules, instead just having a Skull's Eye Schooner, a Caribbean Clipper and the Forbidden Island blast at each other :) It was great fun. We would actually aim with the little cannons (the shooting variant) and try to hit the other guy's figures. Whatever we hit with the little black "cannonball" pieces was removed from play, be it some leaves of a palmtree, some bricks, or a pirate! Of course, after half an hour, especially the island fortress was just a mess . And we had some land-based combat, too, just seeing who wins in close combat by throwing the dice. I can also remember about some prisoners. We removed the leg portion of the figures and put them in the "water" near some rocks, and it looked like they were cought there in the shallow water). Good times! Kind of Wizards & Warriors and similar games where out actually can shoot with little cannons :)
  24. Cool ship. Sharp colors and a very sturdy construction. I like it!
  25. You can read about the specific technique I used here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3351&view=findpost&p=871521
