Imperial Officers Mafia - Day Four
mediumsnowman replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, I’m just going to lay it all out on the table. My cryptic warning to the vig last night was because I am the Loyalist Blocker. I blocked Captain Fenton Night 1 on a hunch, mostly a stab in the dark. I blocked Admiral Motti Night 2 since I was pretty sure Ozzel was going to flip town. I attempted to block Captain Fenton again last night, but was unsuccessful. I am afraid my post worrying about gettin vigkilled clued the scum into my position as a PR and blocked me, which is why my action was unsuccessful. With apparently no scum kill last night they can then claim blocker and get me lynched, framing me as the scum killer. With likely 1 or maybe 2 scum left they must be getting desperate! Hopefully this blocking data helps us narrow down the last scum, and thrwart what I assume to be their nefarious plan to extend the game and get a town PR lynched by claiming first. -

Shame about Tarkin. The way he latched onto my uninformed defense of Ozzel seemed really scummy. Who I assume is our vig is on a roll - Komec was completely under my radar, I had him pegged for vanilla town. Since I obviously don’t want to lynch myself, if nobody comes up with any concrete information, I think Dellus or Fenton would be our best options for today. -

Apologies for my absence. I’ve been following the thread but haven’t had a chance to compose any sort of response. I feel like I’ve already addressed many of the points brought against me and people are just repeating each other. Be wary of these band wagoners - Veers, Fenton, Dellus - all come to mind. If whoever killed Jellico is thinking about taking me out tonight I would heavily advise not doing that. Let’s see how the lynch on Tarkin plays out and go into tomorrow with a clear mind. -

We absolutely got lucky. We can’t go patting ourselves on the back for catching Ozzel when he was acting exactly as he always has. The case against him this time was weak at best, it just happened to work out. Scum tells for the majority of people are not necessarily tells for Ozzel, if that makes sense. -

I feel like I’ve explained my thoughts on Ozzel and Jellico a million times. We got lucky with one and I had to make a snap decision on the other. I voted first because Tarkin is our best suspect and I happened to be online when voting started. I replied to Motti and admitted the quick votes under my lead was similar to what happened yesterday, and called out those that seemed particularly bandwagon-y. Have you even read the thread? -

“Sat back to see what might happen” is never a good excuse for inactivity. That just seems like seeing where the lynch ends up and tagging along. The note Tarkin wanted a no-lynch Day 1 is a good observation, but I don’t think it’s indicative of alignment either way. “He defended traitors” is just parroting what others have said, and nobody argues that he didn’t want either lynched. The question is rather or not he knew they were traitors when he defended them. It’s similar to my situation, where I argued against Ozzel’s lynch and voted for Jellico in a snap decision that didn’t work out. I provided good reasons for my behavior, and Tarkin’s explanations have come up lacking. It’s a matter of intent, not whether or not he defended them. Nobody is arguing that. Dellus just seems like a middle-of-the-road bandwagon vote with weak reasoning and worse execution. -

Hmm. As others have said, thus seems to be the same thing that happened yesterday with a quick run of votes. Dellus, Fenton, and Daala all stand out as bandwagon-y to me. Doing damage control mode after losing two teammates in the last day? -

I don’t understand why I’m getting flak today for being “quiet” I was plenty active the first two days and made it clear I wouldn’t be around as much today due to other obligations. My hurried vote and snap decision between Jellico and Piett that has sparked so much discussion is very much a result of that. I’ve very much been wary of quick-forming bandwagons in the past. Not sure where that point is coming from. Think I called one out in Brickywood, though it may have been a different game. They kind of blur together after a while. -

I’ll be the first to admit I did not want to lynch Ozzel yesterday for behavior that has been proven time and time again to not be indicative of his alignment. We just got lucky this time and I’m glad I was wrong. Did 3 very quick votes appear to me like possible collusion and/or scum jumping on an easy bandwagon? Absolutely. With Ozzel confirmed scum is it more likely I was wrong again and it was merely coincidence? Probably. I don’t think this is a fair statement. Sure, I haven’t been as active today as I would like to be, but I have other obligations. Was I not engaged and active in conversation Days 1 and 2? I also wouldn’t say I pushed your lynch. As I said to Admiral Greer, I had to make a snap decision between you and Jellico, and didn’t have strong reads on either. I just knew we didn’t want to go into today without anything to go on, and you seemed like a better choice since I had no read on you and was leaning town on Jellico after her performance in the Trial. I think the best lynch candidate for today would be our very own Moff Tarkin. He really latched on to my unwitting defense of Ozzel, the reasoning for which I explained to Captain Fenton above. It seems to me he was likely one of Ozzel’s teammates and used me to try and steer the lynch away from him, which I fell for hook, line, and sinker. Vote: Grand Moff Tarkin (LegoMonorailFan) -

As I’ve said a few times I agree this looks bad on my part, when you just boil it down to “he avoided voting for Ozzel and Jellico.” In reality it’s a lot more nuanced than that. Ozzel threw us all for a loop and I was wary of lynching him for what has been proven time and time again to not be indicative of his alignment. I’m glad it worked in our favor this time, however. As for the Jellico/Piett split, as you can see, I did not have time to properly analyze each as I had been mostly focused on the Daala/Ozzel discussion and was quite literally walking out the door. I didn’t have a strong read on either, but knew we needed a lynch, and honestly Jellico’s behavior yesterday reminded me of her gameplay in Tria by Jury, where she was town. That left Piett to vote for since Daala was nowhere near close enough to lynch or justify leaving my vote on when the final vote ended up being so slim. It looks bad on my part when you don’t consider all the factors involved, especially in my rushed vote at the end. -

This makes more sense, I think, than the “unknown teammates” theory, though it does seem overly complex and timing-dependent with high-risk high-reward outcomes for the traitors. Fenton was under suspicion Day 1, but managed to deflect conversation to Ozzel/Daala/Piett/Jellico Day 2. He may be one of the traitors we are looking for. -

Wow. Don’t think we could have asked for a better outcome. I’m pleasantly surprised about Ozzel, I admit I had my reservations about the lynch. I guess it just goes on to prove that his behavior is really not a tell either way. I don’t know why the scum wouldn’t kill last night, so maybe our blocker or doc got lucky. Contact someone you trust? I’m afraid other obligations in distant reaches of the galaxy may force me to be less involved today than I have been, but we are making excellent progress in rounding up the last of the traitors. Analyzing Jellico’s contributions should also prove fruitful. I find it intriguing he was one of the last few hammer votes on Ozzel, and we may not have had a lynch without him. Maybe they didn’t know they were teammates? -

I’m pressed for time at the moment and likely won’t be able to come online again before the end of the day. I think Daala would be the best and I don’t like the Ozzel train. If it would help I’d rather go for Piett than Jellico unvote Rider Raider vote: Sandy (Piett) please accept my hurried vote I’m trying to walk out the door -
Imperial Officers Mafia - Day Two
mediumsnowman replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I agree it doesn’t look great on my part, if my vote is what you are referring to. The difference, I think, is the time and frequency of votes that formed the main wagons for today. As you addressed, Ozzel certainly has reason for reduced participation that Daala has yet to provide, but that doesn’t give him a “get-out-of-jail” free card, per se. The case against Daala dates back to posts from yesterday, and unless I missed something, the train against Ozzel sort of came out of nowhere today thanks to the suspiciously concentrated efforts of a few unnamed individuals, who I am still watching very closely, though they seem for the most part to have vanished back into the woodwork. That’s part of the reason I find the case against Daala more compelling and hesitant to label myself a hypocrite for opposing Ozzel’s lynch and uneasily leaning toward Daala so we have something to go on tomorrow. -
Imperial Officers Mafia - Day Two
mediumsnowman replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Assuming Jellico’s vote count is correct and we have less than 24 hours left, in the interest of securing a lynch and not repeating Day 1, I’ll Unvote: Admiral Motti (MT) Vote: Admira Daala (Rider Raider) in the hope that we’ll have something to go off of tomorrow, and I find the case against Daala more compelling than the case against Ozzel. Is this bandwagoning? Maybe. I don’t feel strongly about Daala, but spinning our wheels for the second day in a row would give the traitors a huge advantage and put us in a very bad position goin forward. -

This circular line of reasoning won’t take us anywhere. Reminds me of an old holomovie I saw with a princess and a man in black... -

Either extreme is good for the traitors. Too spread out, like they were yesterday, doesn't give us any information. Too focused, as we have just seen with these first votes for Ozzel, sets off alarm bells in my Chiss brain. I find it HIGHLY unlikely 3 officers all showed up conveniently within minutes of each other to concentrate votes on a single target. Especially on one of these early days, it doesn't give us much time to react before the bandwagon gets going, giving a great place for the rest of the scum to hide in order to sow distrust and confusion while they pick us off one by one. -

I don't like how quickly this bandwagon is forming against Admiral Ozzel. This is definitely reaching into metagame territory, but our dear Admiral has always been somewhat... erratic in his behavior, and it's not necessarily a scum or town tell. But that's not the point - we already have 3 votes in less than an hour. That reeks, absolutely REEKS, of behind-the-scenes collusion. If Ozzel is town, at least one or two of these first few votes are traitors to our glorious Empire. I would be much more comfortable delivering Admirals Shelby or Motti to Lord Vader today, both of whom I raised suspicions against yesterday. As I said yesterday in response to this post by Admiral Motti: (My apologies for the odd formatting - I haven't been able to quote from old topics since the forum rollover - if anyone can show me how to in PM that would be great, since my old method doesn't work anymore!) "So far we have 10 votes, spread among 9 people. Not uncommon at the start of these quests. I'm going to further that, with a Vote: Komec (jluck) because he hasn't voted yet either, and while not the quietest among the group, he's been quieter than I remember him in the past. So this vote is partially a prod and partially legitimately suspicious." My response: "Why would you further that? A vote for Komec does just about nothing at this point, with less than 24 hours left in the day. (Right?) It seems spreading out votes late in the day like this is a deliberate attempt to sow confusion and give yourself plausible deniability for any bandwagons that might form in these waning hours. Yet, I'm still keeping my Chiss eyes on you, General Veers." It has since come to my attention I referred to General Veers when I meant to refer to Admiral Motti (the grey uniforms all look the same!), but the point still stands, and I still find his blatant vote spreading odd, especially at the end of the day. I would be much more comfortable lynching Motti than Ozzel today. Vote: Admiral Motti (mostlytechnic) -

Didn't we discuss this yesterday? Since we know our dear Director Isard was loyal, and had no time to work if she was a PR, she was just in the dark as the rest of us. The only people who know anything at this point are the traitors. Knowing anyone who died Night 1 was loyal does not lend any credence to their theories. -

mediumsnowman replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
The loss of Director Isard is unfortunate. She was an invaluable cog in the machine of our great Empire. Any speculation as to why she, of all people, was targeted? With only one death last night it would seem probable Director Isard was the work of the traitors and our vigilante, if we have one, stayed home. I’m not sure if we can glean anything from discussions she partook in yesterday, as a result of the no-lynch and typical random targeting that takes place on the first night in these types of... games. Admiral Shelby still seems suspicious to me and General Veers could be worth looking into, though unless anyone steps forward with any particularly... juicy information, we are in much the same position as yesterday. -

Why so defensive Admiral? Have something to hide? I find your choice of words... interesting to say the least. Fenton didn't railroad you. He made observations, came to a rational conclusion, and placed a vote. That's how this whole thing works . While I may have misinterpreted your vote, the Chiss are not infallible, it does certainly give off apathetic vibes and calls into question your intentions. I find none of the other votes quite as... blatant as yours, Admiral. "I suppose if I have to vote I will..." Really? My vote is happy to stay where it is, though I fear nothing will come of it. As Captain Jellico points out, we are rapidly heading for another no-lynch, which benefits only the traitors. We don't want tomorrow to simply be Day 1: Part 2. Give me allegiances and voting patterns or give me death! -
Imperial Officers Mafia - Day One
mediumsnowman replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Not to explicity defend Captain Fenton, per se, as he's just as likely to be a traitor as any of the rest of us, but this statement seems rather unfounded and unwarranted. Would you rather people sit back to be herded onto a bandwagon like those weird cow things on Florrum? There's a difference between actively stimulating discussion on Day 1 and "being aggressive." This also seems like an attempt to deflect Fenton's observations made about your behavior by claiming he's done the same thing to many other officers, which is simply not a truthful statement. To follow up on another of Fenton's "agrressions", Admiral Shelby, your vote also reads as if you don't particularly care who gets lynched. If you're loyal to our great Empire you should certainly care who gets lynched. Only traitors are this apathetic, as long as it's not one of your scumbuddies getting the axe. Why would you further that? A vote for Komec does just about nothing at this point, with less than 24 hours left in the day. (Right?) It seems spreading out votes late in the day like this is a deliberate attempt to sow confusion and give yourself plausible deniability for any bandwagons that might form in these waning hours. Still, I don't find that as suspicious as Admiral Shelby's curious responses to Captain Fenton's legitimate grievances, and I am content for now to Vote: Admiral Shelby (Forresto) Yet, I'm still keeping my Chiss eyes on you, General Veers.
