  1. While I'm still waiting for my PaB order I wanted to build a new part of the ship. So I started building the front of the side panel so I could start devising a system for the magnets. This is what I have so far: This a test to check the how good the magnets fit You can see the magnets aren't fully connected and I'll fix this tomorrow. Bye
  2. Do you mean this one: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=63735 I've seen it. I looks really good but It's not something I'd like to do right away. Maybe later when I grow a little tired of the engines. Thanks anyway.
  3. I can't continue building until my next order arrives, so I placed this beast on my pc. It's so glorious. I used this kind of spray paint. I don't know exactly which kind it is, here is the link for the website I bought it from: http://www.nonpaints.com/nl/motip-ral-kleur-in-spuitbus-400ml It is in Dutch so you might have to translate it.
  4. I used two types of spray paint: RAL 7040 for light bluish grey, which lookes just like it. And RAL 7031 for dark bluish grey, its not perfect but it looks really close.
  5. They first released this set in grey, but later switched to light bluish grey. Mine is mostly light bluish grey but there are some old grey parts in there but I don't mind. You mostly can't see them.
  6. Today I've got a real treat for you guys. I didn't want to wait for the Lego PaB order to arrive to continue building. I need this order because there are some key elements that I need to make the panels. So I decided to skip the panels for now and continue with the rest. So here is the picture with the progress so far: I really enjoyed building this part, the technique used is very cool. I'm only missing most of the tab parts because these are in my PaB order. But Wait, there's more: I've also finished building the bridge It looks amazing, the build was really cool and it's really big. I absolutely love the design. These two parts look really good stacked and it's huge. These two parts alone are bigger than the sets lego releases today I still need some small pieces to finish these parts completely but this set has already blown my mind. I've put these parts on the frame. I can't wait until I can start building the side panels. Here's also a picture of the engines. This used to be Grey with brown and orange, now the colours look perfect. I'm really happy with how the paint job turned out. This model already looks epic and I don't regret bricklinking this one single bit. Thanks for reading and have a good one.
  7. I'm almost done painting the parts, just the big engine wheels and the upper part of the shield dome. Here is a picture from the engine barrels The Dk Bluish grey isn't the exact as the ral 7031. But it's really close and I'm happy with the result Here you can see the painted backup engines assembled. Very pleased with the result I also did the two lower parts of the shield generators. In my opinion I think RAL 7040 resembles Light bluish grey really good. I'll post a picture of the engines when I fully finish them
  8. My two cans of spray paint arrived today. I started spraying the 4 wash tubs and they look great. This is one tub near a real light bluish grey piece. Here it is stacked on another light bluish grey piece. These two should attach to the back frame to form the backup engines. I'm really happy with the result. I can't tell the two colours apart. I'm still busy with the main engines, these take longer because they're bigger. So far I'm happy with the result Until next time
  9. I'll give a comparison when I'm done spray painting. Hopefully I'll receive the last package tomorrow.
  10. Time for an update I received all packages from Bricklink. Now I only need the Pick A Brick order and then I can continue with the panels and finish the ship. You can see that the engines are in a completely different color. If you don't you're probably blind. I didn't want to pay 30$ for one piece so I bought them in a different color. Also I ordered two cans of spray paint. One can of RAL 7040. It's supposed to look like Light Bluish Grey. And RAL 7031. It should be like Dark Bluish Grey. I hope the last order will arrive soon. Then I can finish this epic ship.
  11. I "finally" received the orders that I needed to get started. While the build was not very long, I enjoyed every second of it watching the frame grew bigger and bigger in size I then realised I still needed some pieces for the frame. I just wrote down the ones I still need and called It a day just before I had to use the magnet parts. (I also haven't received those yet.) I'm pleased with the size of the frame. This already gives me a small idea how big the ship will become I already look forward to building the rest I have received an order that wasn't fully correct. I have already contacted the seller. Moral of the short story: Control the amount and size of your bricks Thanks for reading
  12. Yesterday I checked the status of my orders and finally they are all shipped When I came home, some orders already arrived I had 3 packages but not the parts I need to start building. Hopefully some more will arrive after the weekend. Have a good one guys.
  13. I'll only use it if I'm desperate. I don't think it will come to that.
  14. I'll start by trying to attach them like this If that doesn't hold I'll just reinforce it a bit. When I can't seem to find a way to make them stay attached I'll just use glue. That should be strong enough.
  15. I'm just using the same black holder that's in the frame. I'll fix these to the panels and voila The blue holder is attached to the frame and the red one is attached to the side panel. This is how I will replace the expensive tan parts. This should work perfectly.
  16. Hey y'all I bought the lego imperial star destroyer a couple of months ago to display because I love to glaze at an Imperial star destroyer. After a while I realised that the set 6211 really lacks in detail. So I thought I would mod it to make it look better. So I started browsing some pictures of the imperial star destroyer to get some ideas. I then came across the UCS Imperial star destroyer and remembered it existed. I then realised that my 6211 SD would never look as epic as this one. So I went to rebrickable to see how many pieces I already had. I have 69% . But I didn't want to destroy my at-at 4483 so now I still have 67% I printed the parts list and started collecting the pieces I need and circled the ones I still have to buy from bricklink. I then realised I only have 1356 pieces. thats about 33%. So I have to buy a lot more. I made a wanted list from the pieces I need and started looking for the stores to buy the pieces from. The total cost is about 450€ which I will gladly pay for an epic star destroyer. I won't buy pieces that are 30€ per piece, so I just bought them in a different color and I will just paint them. That saved me a lot of money. I didn't buy the tan magnet holders because they are 20€ per piece and I need 14 of them, so I'll just buy a different kind of holder. I won't buy the pieces for the tantive IV, I'll just make it with the pieces I have. I now only have to pay some stores and then the waiting game can begin. Thanks for reading. (can somebody tell me how to upload a picture? )
  17. Thanks, I have found these parts in a lot of colors and I won't mind painting them to the color I need. I have seen your room and I must say it's epic. Now I'm busy getting all the parts that I have laying around and I'll order the ones I need when I'm done. Any tips for getting the cheapest prices on bricklink? Thanks for your interest.
  18. I have found that the Light gray parts are cheaper than the light bluish gray parts :/ I don't have enough magnets so i'll have to buy some more of those but I can use a different color for the holders because you can't see these so I won't mind. From the expensive parts I have none :( But I could buy them in a different color and paint these to get a nice result. I have found all these parts to be really cheap in a different color. Any tips on colouring these? Thanks for the help :)
  19. Hello I'm thinking about bricklinking the USC ISD. According to rebrickable I already have 67% of the used parts. Can anybody give me some tips about bricklinking this set? Thanks
