  1. Okay, but is that even likely? How many non-Sonic the Hedgehog fans are clamoring for a Sonic minifig to begin with? I'm with @danth, the non-fans aren't going to be the target market at all. All of which is not to say that a Sonic wave is likely, because it may indeed be the case that the Venn diagram of Sonic fans and LEGO fans is too small to justify it. But I don't think it's because there aren't enough famous characters in the brand.
  2. That is really lovely. I adore the timeless effect of having some minifigs in modern(ish) clothing, some in medieval/fantasy clothing, and then a train, all in the same scene. What is the music overlaying the video? It's very festive and whimsical!
  3. Not falling for it. The last time I jumped the gun and bought CMFs stocked at Target before the official release date (Muppets), I wound up with four Fozzies. Not taking that chance again.
  4. If you really want the Planet of the Apes vibe and TLG isn't forthcoming, you could always score one of these and add a few Legends of Chima minifigs...
  5. The ostrich exists, but I think it was only ever in one set and it's accordingly hard to come by.
  6. 1. It's our first definitively female-coded clown, for sure. To my mind, any face without visible facial hair could be female. And with clown makeup on, who could tell anyway? :D 2. Not quite that blue, of course; like most "blue" mammals, it's more of a cool gray. But the blue bunny could still work as an Easter toy or for a more fantastic look.
  7. Sorcerer Mickey is the only character that really screams Fantasmic! anyway; I think almost any other would be primarily associated with their movie. Maybe design some new spangled outfits for the central Mickey & Friends characters to emphasize the "show" aspect? Come to think of it, I'd love to have a bipedal parks-style Pluto.
  8. Since we already have the steamboat and sailing ship models are fairly plentiful (also it's not Peter and Hook on the ship anymore, it's some painfully generic Pirates of the Caribbean scenario), I would rather they focus on more unique builds--the dragon, a segmented giant Kaa, a barge or two or three for more characters to ride on, maybe a few "fireworks" to launch like on the castle model...
  9. If they do plan to go this route, is it asking too much that the set in question be a recreation of the Fantasmic! live show from the Disney theme parks? It would handily solve the issue of which iconic theme park thing to release next, as well as providing a reason to include LEGO versions of more characters. And not just minifigs. Can anyone say...brick-built dragon-form Maleficent?
  10. I've been low-key planning to kitbash Walt out of parts that already exist. We'd definitely need something to jazz him up to be worthwhile as a CMF.
  11. *shrug* It's not just Disney. Any given TV series just doesn't have the reach of a comparable movie. A movie viewing is a singular event--you go to the theater (or, increasingly, fire up your streaming service) and it's just two hours or so out of your life. Everyone who sees the movie gets about the same experience in terms of the actual content. Consuming an entire series is a much greater time commitment, so far fewer people will commit, and people who can only catch bits of it won't necessarily all catch the same bits, and so won't have the shared experience of people who saw the same movie. That in turn makes a series harder to advertise and harder to merchandise than an otherwise similar film.
  12. TV shows never get as widespread mainstream attention as films.
  13. I should make a list... In any case, I've got all year to think about it, because at this point I have used up the available space. (I have to pick and choose which sets to build each year because I just don't have room to display them all!) Up right now are: The new Main Street (all builds) The Bakery, and the horse-drawn wagon from the same set The Post Office, including the mail truck The 2020 ice skating rink The 2012 LE Sleigh ride set An assortment of small bench builds from various WV sets I may try to squeeze in a Christmas tree stand, but it's pretty packed already and I've hardly even put any minifigs in it yet!
  14. I've started decorating for the season, which means putting together my Winter Village, including the new Main Street set! It actually works very well because of the aforementioned limited display space, but the toy shop build does render the original Winter Toy Shop a bit obsolete. I've been considering "retiring" some of my older WV sets as some of the pieces start to get brittle and crack, but another option for the old Toy Shop might be to change it to some other kind of shop! Any suggestions? I'm not a very experienced MOCer so I'd want to have to tweak the actual build as little as possible. With the display stands in the window and the little workshop area up top, I'm thinking maybe...an ornament shop?
  15. Someone in the other thread said the dog is probably meant to represent a Papillon, which was a popular breed in the French court. The TLG version also gets points for the over-the-top cosmetics, which were very much en vogue.
  16. It occurs to me that the Potter's headwrap would be very easy to repurpose for a Brazilian or Colombian folk costume.
  17. Welp, I'm in love! The referee is the only one with no personal interest for me, and even so, that soccer ball would be a good addition to the LEGO minifig toy collection.
  18. Same for me! Back in the day I said that if there were a LEGO Sleeping Beauty Castle, I would sell off my Cinderella Castle in order to pay for it if I had to, because I'd rather have the one I'm familiar with than the other one. (That's still my position, though it's very unlikely I would have to.) And I agree that $160 is probably too low for a proper Sleeping Beauty Castle set at the current price scaling. At the same time, if LEGO is going to keep producing Disney theme park sets, I can't imagine they'd want to be without a castle at any given time, since the castles are by far the most iconic buildings in the parks.
  19. They can gnaw on a bone...
  20. It's an "old kung fu master" type character showing off some moves (with afterimages of his arms to show how fast he's moving).
  21. I missed one yesterday...maracas! We can put that under percussion.
  22. What do we have so far? You mention the Wild West "trumpet" (actually a bugle, though at minifig accessory scale the difference is probably negligible), and without checking Bricklink I can think of: Woodwinds: Saxophone Flute (3L or 4L bar with printing) Bagpipes Strings: Acoustic guitar Electric guitar (a few different shapes and several print designs) Banjo Violin Lute Misc: Keytar And that's about it as far as it goes with specific pieces. I think one of the old Islanders sets had a printed round tile to represent an animal-skin drumhead, and I seem to recall a 1 x 2 tile with a piano keys print. Which leads to the point that larger (i.e. not handheld) instruments tend to be brick-built, like the gorgeous pipe organ in the recent Haunted House set. To have a proper marching band, we'd definitely need some brass (tuba/sousaphone, trombone, trumpet/cornet, French horn), and expanded woodwinds (clarinet, oboe, bassoon, a flute/piccolo done in silver), and also some drums set up on body harnesses--a bass drum and a set of snares. Glockenspiel and portable marimba/xylophone are also found in marching bands. For an orchestra, we need the brass, the woodwinds, the drums not on harnesses, and some larger strings--cello, bass fiddle, harp. Although a stationary drum set could, of course, be piece-built. I'd also like to have a lyre or other small handheld harp.
  23. Honestly, any theme park-only character is probably too obscure for the general consumers. Which is not to say that they shouldn't make any, because it may be small, but the Disney theme park fandom is ferociously, illogically loyal and ready to drop absurd amounts of money on anything that tells us the company remembers we exist. I would love to have a Figment minifig. And, as the kids say, I don't even go here (meaning I have little personal connection to Epcot, being a Southern California native).
  24. I don't know if "brown" is being used here to refer to the specific color or as a catch-all for shades in that family, but I think dark tan would make for a more naturalistic looking bunny than the standard brown. On the other hand, the brown would look like a chocolate bunny.
