  1. PJ - You are a wiz!! Many, many thanks. My wife will be soooo pleased to hear that I'll stop wittering to my self! That's just great.
  2. Yeah, thanks Vassal. The top position is taken by a stud that carries the return rubber band; the axle is in the next position.
  3. Thanks Peppermint_M and alanp. I realize that photos would've been a lot more useful but that section is in bits again at present. I was rathe hoping that someone else may have experienced the same problem and had resolved it. If my post doesn't attract a solution then I will reassemble, take photos and post. The set came from a relative who has emigrated. I checked off the inventory and all seems present and correct. I've checked out this "comb wheel" on various websites and there only appears to be one of this shape. Thanks again.
  4. Hi, my name is Vintagebricker. I am new to using a Forum, so please excuse any errors etc. I have recently acquired an original 8480 Shuttle set. I have almost completed the assembly but find that the control knobs at the rear do not function as intended. Located on the shaft are 2 "comb wheels", 1 of which should reach down between the 2 switches on the top of the battery box to facilitate on/off/reverse operations, but the arm is too short (by approx. 8mms). I have re-built this section several times but alas with the same result. I note, with some frustration, that nobody else has posted this issue - anywhere! Many people have commented that this set is one of the best that Lego have ever produced. I would love to be able to concur with them. Can anyone tell me where I may be going wrong? Thanks
