MOD: 10173 Holiday Train whith PF
spacepilot3000 replied to spacepilot3000's topic in LEGO Train Tech
"Jou Thorsten, datt geit!" And for all here on EB, who don't speak "plattdütsch": I had a blue Lego City Container Ship in the 80's. This ship also had black 2x6x2 weights to get the ship swimming. After hours I found two of this weight bricks in my oldest Lego box yesterday... and they are working! The train is running perfect now. I put the weights into the tender an changed only a few details for that, and now I can fire the holidaytrain out of the track at full speed. With reduced speed it runs smooth and without hopping out of the track because of the cables or spinning wheels now. I am happy! -
Thanks for your feedback again, folks! What a funny question: red or blue ion engines. I heard many voices around me, who told me to change the color to blue. But no wookipedia, no jedipedia and no picture around here comes with blue color. So, I rechanged the 4 little bricks to red again. Now I think in official canon, the ion engine has to be red...*basta*

Hiho! Here's my litte update. I changed the length of the cockpit tube and the color of the ion engines to blue. Now my little MOC is really done, and I think with both tube in same length it looks "perfect" for me. Regards, Spacepilot

Moin Thorsten, good Morning Eurobricks! "Dascha n büx!Noch eener ut'em hohen Norden!" Thanks for you support and the pics!!! I have some 9V cables in my wanted list now. Looks like a good way! I've tried to use larger "loops" with the PF cables for now, and it is working better, but still not really good. But the best change for now are some screws... Yes, two fat, heavy, heavy M10 screws, I putted into the tender. Ok, I have to find a better way, but it seems like the winter train is really to heavy for the very lightweight PF 9V style motor attached to the also lightweight tender. With the weight of the screws my train isn't hopping out of the tracks anymore, and it starts and runs smooth, fast and secure. Has anyone some ideas for what to use instead of the screws? It has to be very compact and heavy, and must be able to be invisible attached to the tender. Cheers, Spacepilot -
Good Morning Eurobricks, while it is frosty cold outside here in northern Germany I have built the 2010 "around the christmas tree" train track the last few days. At the fanworld in cologne I got a 10173 holiday train, wich is the wonderful addition to my christmas diorama. Last year I got the Emerald, and therewith I got the PF system and non 9V tracks... S@H had the following, to get me happy: Power Functions Infrared-receiver No.: 8884 Power Functions cable No.:8886 Power Functions LED-Lights No.: 8870 Train Motor No.: 8866 My plan was to assign the motor to the holiday train tender like done here: http://www.carolinatrainbuilders.com/index.php/2007/12/powering-the-10173-holiday-train/ but because of the cable connector I had to make my tender a bit longer than in original. My version, actually there are missing the side parts of the motor I still have to order - so it is a little bit naked ;-) Adding the LEDs to the small train wasn't easy. I think I've done it without too much modding: I the used the passenger car to hide the IR receiver and the battery, but here is room for improvements I think... For now my version is working for me, but there are still problems to solve. For example - when i build too sharp curves or run the train too fast the cables "tender to lok" and "tender to passenger car" are levering the engine out of the track. Normally here I would say the engine isn't heavy enough. I try to solve that today... Nice Sunday for everyone! Space

At First the bad news: I had to drill some LEGO Parts. OUCH! I know... But to get all the 1x1 Bricks lighted up, i had to put the cables somewhere... (The holes are in 1mm, so I could user very thin cable) The whole project the is realized with lots of 1mm SMD LEDs, (here in Germany i got them from Conrad Electronics) which can be bought around the world in good sorted electronic shops. I used red, green, blue, yellow and white versions. An Example shot: Technical data: Type SMD-LED 1206 with lens Color xxx Package 0805 with cable 240 mm UF 3.15 V IF 20 mA Design clearly Angle 140 ° 40 mcd luminous intensity IV Dim. (L x W x H) 2 x 1.25 x 1.1 mm RoHS Compliant Yes To get rid of calculating resistors, i decided to use 4 constant power source kits (2 / 20 mA 3-25 V), which always are giving out the right power for in series soltered LEDs out of 19V. My power supply is an old Fujitsu Siemens Notebook Power Supply. ... coupled with sweat and patience that's the whole secret

Hey Eurobricks! That's my litte contribution to 2010th Christmas! And like Clark Griswold I was searching for something special... That is the result of adding 10199, 10216, some Bricklink stuff and some "X": Here we get closer to the "Clark Griswold" Brick... Let there be light! Hope you're in Christmas mood now! Spacepilot3000

Here in Germany it is available via S@H. I've just ordered it

Absolutely 10019. Or both, but as favorite in every case the 10019. The new set in my eyes is not a real UCS, it is a big playset, nothing else.
-
I'll get this set, regardless of how gritty the part/price ratio looks like.... I have many VIP Points to change from the new bakery and the Shuttle, and so I think it will be not so silly to buy this UCS. This "small" one is a good filler for one of the shelves of the big ships ;-) Unfortunately I never could get one of the 10026 Naboo fighter from 2001. This both sets would perfectly play together in my galaxy...
-
Yes, I thought about that, and with your pic of the result I now think I have to do it as fast as possible. Do you perhaps have a bricklink / partlist of the needed bricks to make it easy for me to remove blue ;-) ??

I am a big fan of the original Trilogy and also the new movies. Here and there i have collected some SW Stuff from cinema shops by the way. But then, one fateful day in 2007 I saw the 10179 in the LEGO Store in Hamburg, Germany and bought it. After that nothing was the same again. My "dark ages" were over, and one UCS after another went to my working room ;-) After discovering bricklink short time after that my interest in SW MOCs raised again, and that's it. Here I am, past remedy ;-)

Thanks a lot so far Folks. Yes, the pylons are a problem. To get them as original as possible i wasn't able to get it a little bit finer or smaller. But this is OK for me, it is not too bulky. The thing with the lenght of the cockpit tube, OK - that has to be changed I see. I only need more light bluish gray roof tiles for that. I have one 10 x 10 radar left, so it can be done. I try to make a picture of the bomb drop, when I have daylight again here.

Hi, inspired from the 10175,7181 and the fantasic Tie Fighter MOC from Anio, I decided to make the "next" part of the TIE fleet. I like the Bomber, that's why now it is one ;-) I still have little probs with gray, gray and gray, but I think Bricklink will solve such problems. Here we go:

The Spacepilot3000 says "HELLO" out of Germany
spacepilot3000 posted a topic in Hello! My name is...
Good Morning Eurobricks, so, lately I am here! You ask "Why lately?". Ok, I am reading eurobricks for about 3 years now, without joining the community... So, I think I am very late. How often did I have suggestions to so much impressive MOCS or cool news, or fine photos.. and so on, and how often I did nothing. THAT was the way to the dark side! Ok, and that brings me to my little hobby: Lego Star Wars! But only the UCS and collectible Things, including UCS style MOCS. Since 2007, after my dark ages and 31 years old it got me... There are only 4 (old) UCS Sets to go, the rest built up an imperium in my working room. Btw. I've build Anios Tie Fighter this January for example: My biggest UCS Vignette is my cute little Millennium Falcon mit LED lights and so on: But that is not all of my crazy crap ;-). A few of my little "projects" are documented on my homepage http://hudecity.de/?page_id=655. Its german, but with masses of pictures that should not be a problem. OK, is that enough to get a litte eye on me here in germany? Regards, The Spacepilot3000 -
Hi Everybody, after years of reading (my editing playgound was imperiumdersteine.de so far) fantastic posts here, this MOC helped with my decision to register here. I really love this venator, and want to build it in 2011. Thanks for the instruction! What a perfect partner for my 10030... My only problem was to "convert" the peeron style partlist.html to something, bricklink directy likes... And now I wrote my own litte converter last saturday With http://partlist.hudecity.de (german/english) I am now able to upload a partlist.html, and directly get back a translated bricklink part search. Sure, its early alpha0.1, but with partlist.html it aready works. My ToDos are now MLCAD and the LDD direct .Perhaps this little tool can help anybody with the same problems.
