Mine is just jammed in my bookshelves where ever i can fit it. I mainly collect vintage 80's vehicles and then build modern 6 stud versions, although i do have a little bit of odds and ends, my desk also has 4 current builds on it. This is a dedicated Man Cave room I don't have to share with my wife.

I have to lie to my wife because of bricklink! it's amazing how fast 3c here and 12c there adds up.

Do Lego have anything like this available? I'm not sure where i got it but i think it may be mega block. 2x2 plate with double sided studs.

This may be completely irrelevant to your problem but if that was a 4wd on sand I would have said you're using too much go pedal. Maybe you could put a 2 speed gearbox with a low torque starting gear and then a cruising gear. Don't ask me I'm only just getting into custom technics and have done any gears yet. my other suggestion would be wider rear track, increase the footprint for more traction and spread the weight around more so it floats on top of the snow.

Love the old planes, I've got one that would suit. from '88 DId they ever make any of these era planes in a 6 stud wide design?

As much as I would like one, the shipping costs to Australia kills that idea. the shipping costs 5c more than the product... it doubles in price. ($60) Ebay is selling them form about $70-100 each and I consider that to be too much for a such a small kit. I love the product though and wish i could get one.

I got myself a 42029 (& 42028 dozer - not relevant to this convo though!) and have assembled the chassis and suspension, I'm not really interested in the pickup body and will be using this pack as parts. Is the suspension on 42029 & 9398 the same? I'm still looking to buy a 9398 if I can find one. i learnt a lot about lego suspension and was amazed by some of the custom parts and what you can do with them. -nevermind, after studying some pictures of 9398, i can see differences.

thanks blakbird, that is exactly what i am looking for. Thanks to everyone else as well, I am looking at getting a 9398 if i can find one secondhand and if not, a 42029 (actually probably both). that will help for my second project.

Hey guys, My wife purchased me a little technic set (42026 - pullback F1) as a christmas stocking filler. I haven't played with lego for many years and loved it. It reignited my interest, so i went and purchased another basic technics kit (42023 - Digger, loader & truck) and dug out my old old technics (8064) and about 3kgs of random blocks I had in the cupboard. I have been looking online and want to do a custom build but i still need a few skills yet. I've been playing in LDD and have a basic idea of my build (Landrover Defender) but need to know more about the technicalities of Suspension on lego. What kit would you recommend to buy and build first, to learn more? I'd prefer to keep it realistic with a solid axle set up front and rear that can flex. I'll use independant if i have to but would prefer not. I would also like something remote or mechanically driven to gain an understanding of driveline components and gearing on lego. I'm not mechanically minded and would prefer to build something that works, from instructions to start with. A larger commercial body would be good as well so I can look at structural strength and framing using blocks. A lot of my childhood builds crumbled when played with! Cheers.
