Hey guys,
My wife purchased me a little technic set (42026 - pullback F1) as a christmas stocking filler. I haven't played with lego for many years and loved it. It reignited my interest, so i went and purchased another basic technics kit (42023 - Digger, loader & truck) and dug out my old old technics (8064) and about 3kgs of random blocks I had in the cupboard. I have been looking online and want to do a custom build but i still need a few skills yet. I've been playing in LDD and have a basic idea of my build (Landrover Defender) but need to know more about the technicalities of Suspension on lego.
What kit would you recommend to buy and build first, to learn more? I'd prefer to keep it realistic with a solid axle set up front and rear that can flex. I'll use independant if i have to but would prefer not. I would also like something remote or mechanically driven to gain an understanding of driveline components and gearing on lego. I'm not mechanically minded and would prefer to build something that works, from instructions to start with. A larger commercial body would be good as well so I can look at structural strength and framing using blocks. A lot of my childhood builds crumbled when played with!
Cheers.
