First wave in April...second wave in August...at least that's what signs are pointing to.

According to the Dutch site, 70706-70709 are slated for August 2013 while the "walker" is slated for April along with 70700-70705. Not sure if these are legit, but if so, looks like we're getting a second wave after all.

I think that role is to be filled in this case by appropriately colored robots. But, if the minifig designs end up being cool and spacey, I would love to see some nameless background characters included in future sets (if it goes beyond the initial wave).

A lot of advanced planning goes into play themes, so we can't always assume the performance of one theme directly impacts the plan for the theme immediately following it in the same genre (space, in this case). I haven't seen the LEGO Group's 2012 Annual Report, so I don't presume to know how well any particular theme did in terms of sales. If Alien Conquest did poorly, that's news to me. There is also a lot of demand from retailers for new product, so regardless of the success of a theme or not, LEGO is under a certain amount of pressure to always be coming up with something different. Some themes get multiple waves, some don't. Ninjago has been wildly popular, but I think most would agree that it's in a category all it's own and not really part of a larger, evergreen genre (Ninjago doesn't quite fit into Castle the way the old ninja line did). All of that to say, I think there are relatively few LEGO fans out there with any genuine idea of what goes into these decisions based on empirical evidence. Any folks who have first-hand knowledge are probably not at liberty to discuss it in the general public.

No, not exactly "just a rumor." There was a picture in a LEGO Magazine from a while back that sort of hinted that elves could be part of the Fantasy theme at some point in the future. Could still be, but given that we're about to see a new human vs. human line, I'd say don't count on seeing them any time soon, if at all.

I'm hoping that's Amazon insanity and not LEGO MSRP insanity.

I think YG-49 was implying that the legs assembly with the skull buckle that we've seen in existing SPIII sets is a stand-in for different, yet-to-be-finished, legs. The Blacktron homage torso is likely the final or close to final version. Highly unlikely if you ask me. I think it's just that a new Halo game happened to be released right around the time this helmet was revealed on the Interewebz and since it looks 1% more like a Halo helmet than the old, standard enclosed minifig helmet, people are quick to make that comparison. My understanding is that this set (along with others) was on display by The LEGO Group at Festival Rossiyskogo Fan Forum Lego. If this is faked, there's also a whole mess o' Atlantis, City, Toy Story and other sets that were also faked and displayed at the same event.

What ills might those be? I, for one, am thrilled. But just to be objective, let's recap: Collection 1: space (1), town (3), studio (1) Collection 2: space (2), town (1), pirates (1), ninjas (1) Collection 3: space (1), town (1), pirates (1), castle (1), wild west (1) Collection 4: space (2), castle (2), town/holiday (1) So out of 20 figs, we're looking at: 30% space 30% town 15% castle 10% pirates 5% ninja 5% wild west 5% studio Admittedly, space and town fans have no reason to complain, but there's no reason to think that other themes won't get their due in time. What is so drastically under-represented?

I love this thing. I'll get at least one, but the inevitable $17.99-$19.99 US price tag will probably keep me from going nuts in spite of the presence of not one, but two CS figs. Honestly, I'm just happy the first volume was financially viable enough to pave way for a second. Because it deserves it. ;) On the nosey. Why would LEGO reproduce an old mold when they have an existing "improved design" (quotes because I know that's debatable for some) one? If you didn't see an old style helmet for the red dude in Vol. 1, there's really no reason to expect one (or two) in Vol. 2.

$12.99 is a bit much for such a small set (it seems LEGO is slipping them in here and there), but this is perfect fodder for a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale at TRU (even marked up to $14.99).
