  1. I like the set - a lot. I won't end up getting it due to budget limitations, and other sets more desirable but I think this set is great. It's a location based set as we've all been pining after for some time now, has an excellent selection of figs, nice design, has a small ship and depicts an action-packed scene. What more do people want from the set? I'd be intrigued to see those who have criticised the set come up with a better solution within a similar piece range and of TLG's quality
  2. Congratulations guys! Echoing what others have said, I think Brickdoctor's promotion has been coming a while now, and I look forward to both of your continuing efforts to keep this forum the excellent place it is
  3. I really wouldn't like to say - I think I picked it up figure-less but in excellent condition with the instructions for around £75-80 (if my memory serves me correctly ) I don't think it will drop in price all that much since it isn't a new version of the Sail Barge which is coming out, and it is an excellent set in it's own right without the figures, rather than say 10123 which IMO isn't such a great set but the figs make it highly desirable.
  4. You've definitely improved the model a lot with that new cockpit, looks a lot more to scale now I also really like your backdrop, it's a fitting environment being similar to where we mostly saw the ship in the movies, and is subtle enough not to detract from the model without being too plain
  5. Love this latest license-free vig Legostein! They just keep getting better and better, Jabba is great and I really love your hairpiece solution for Bib I can remember having a brickbuilt version of Jabba when I was younger and there was no official figure out, and your rendition seems eerily reminiscent of it
  6. Totally agree here - the Sail Barge makes for an awesome stand alone display and is a really nice model. If you grab one without the figs it's gonna save you money, and with the new Jabba's Palace and skiff being released in the summer they'll give you updated all the rare figures released in the original and more.
  7. As awesome as that castle and MOC's in general can be/are, I think there has to be something said for official sets too - they can often make a fantastic display IMO. Great work The Joker1 on your combination of official sets and MOC part too, think they look great together and fit quite naturally whilst combining a variety of scenes
  8. Wow. Absolutely stunning. Not only is it huge but it also totally captures the identity of the Flying Dutchman. You've really managed to infuse it with that sense of decay and stagnation which made the film version so unique and iconic. Fantastic job I shall now pick my jaw up from the floor
  9. Personally, I think in a battle between the 2, SES would come out on top. However, any other ship would stay away from SES due to the massive skull and crossbones adorning it's sails, where as BSB appears to be a merchant ship ship and so would attract attention from the 'good guys' who's ship they would plunder when it was too late And that's why I voted BSB
  10. All of the Watchmen V (V for Vendetta) Venom & Carnage Can't really think of any more I'd love to see, although others like Daredevil and Kingpin would be cool. I doubt that we'll ever see Watchmen or V for Vendetta official Lego though due to the adult and political themes contained within the comics and films
  11. Yeah, that was what I meant. I'd obviously have to see different variations to make a definitive judgement on what I preferred, but for me chrome R2 (as in 'proper' TC-14 chrome) just doesn't sound appealing as it isn't what I see R2 as. But then again I am an X-Wings-are-grey kinda guy
  12. Wouldn't be quite sure - and wouldn't want to judge til I've seen one. My concern is that he looks 'worn' and TLG's shiny chrome finish wouldn't look quite realistic. Maybe the pearl silver colour they currently use on lightsaber hilts could be a better choice of dome?
  13. Wow these are awesome Metallo's my favourite too, love how poseable he looks - great build!
  14. @Fuppy, I typed a big reply out but I thought we might be getting a bit off topic since I know how good an arguer you are so I PM'd you my response instead
  15. Thanks for the info! I'll probably just pick one up from BL then, assuming they're around the same price. Yeah I thought I'd picked that up in a thread somewhere around here, I wouldn't be able to justify a £50 order either though
  16. Does anyone have any idea of the average Bricklink price of the Shadow ARF in the month after it was released last year? Apologies if it's something totally obvious that I'm missing but I understand you can only view price guide for what's currently on offer and for the last 6 months.
  17. As I stated in a previous post, I didn't expect anything special as I previously have had no interest in the promos. I shall definitely be doing as you say next year though, experience is a great thing eh I hope it's £50, I just thought I'd seen £75 mentioned somewhere so assumed the higher price. I would happily give that a go - only problem is Lego shops are sparse here in the UK and my nearest is 3 hours-ish away, so my order would have to be placed online. I hope you see where my problems are here, all considered I feel I'll be better off to wait for the secondary market to come into play and grab one from there. It'd just make it that bit easier for quite a few people I know are in a similar position to me if they expanded it to a purchase over £50/£75 (whichever it turns out to be) which included a SW set, or some similar kind of offer, rather than limiting it to purely SW over that value.
  18. Personally, I'd love some 'origins' sets, small ones similar to 4851. They'd be a great, cheap way for TLG to explore a variety of locations and market cool characters at reasonable prices
  19. It's still more than some of us have available in our budgets! I think people are more moaning at the prospect of not getting the lovely shiny minifig more than anything else
  20. Third this Wouldn't quite fancy R2 chromed, I always perceived him as a bit worn/battered to undergo the chroming treatment.
  21. I've never actually cared for any of the previous SW promos though. White Boba Fett? Have no use for him, not a great fig IMO. Shadow ARF? Not interested in TCW. Chromed Stormtrooper? About as pointless as a chromed Ewok I didn't anticipate this year being any different, and couldn't see myself being bothered about a promo fig. Secondly, I do not plan my year out based around various sales, promotions, offers and other things like others seem to do. I operate on a very tight budget and make my purchases as and when I can afford to- and unfortunately May 4th/5th this year I'm not going to be able to justify splashing £75 on a SW set I already have or dislike, whilst I could probably just about justify the purchase of a few smaller sets here and there from both SW and other themes to make up the £75. I understand that TLG cannot accommodate every taste, and no matter what they do they will leave a portion of fans feeling aggrieved and alienated. It's the same with any company, entertainment business etc. My point is I feel that TLG could have tweaked their offer slightly to accommodate a much wider variety of fans. Just my 2 cents though
  22. Neat stand, really optimises the angle the model is shown at The finished model looks outstanding too-the combination of greys really adds to the whole 'hunk-of-junk' look the Falcon has going for it
  23. I would not class myself as a figure collector as such, I have no desire to own a full collection. I just wish to own what I personally think of as cool, or a nice fig, or whatever other reason, and would like it to be a slightly less prohibitive offer than it looks likely to be. Some of us don't quite have the budget to buy sets on a whim like this. Personally, I planned my purchases out earlier in the year, bought what I wanted when I had the money in order to do so and now wait patiently for the summer wave. The fact that a fantastic new fig is thrown into the mix, at short notice, for a brief period of time is the gripe for most here I believe. I think the point is that most do like the shiny and rare item, just can't justify splashing out an extra £75 in order to get him I hope to make him part of my collection too, but with no means or other motivation to purchase anything else from TLG until the summer wave, I think I'll just have to brace myself for the aftermarket prices. I therefore hope that TLG has plenty of supply this year in order to satisfy demand and also saturate the aftermarket for those like myself who keep our fingers crossed for not too extortionate prices.
  24. Believe it or not I have no need whatsoever for R2-D2. It's a great set by all means, I just don't wish to forfeit any of the summer wave just to get it. I do want TC-14 though - this means that I'll have to either bite the bullet and spend £75 I don't want to just to grab this promo or chance the aftermarket prices, quite a poor situation in my view. Maybe TLG could have done it where you have to place a £75 order including some SW, I feel that could make the promotion a little fairer (as Tyrant says though, can never be truly fair).
  25. Fantastic interpretation of the classic scene, great job as usual Legostein I feel these figs are the best you've come up with so far in this little series, and as I've said before I love the whole 'old-school' vibe going on with it
