For all we know, this hexagonal packaging is just an extremely rought attempt at reproducing the shape of the resealable bags. These images are certainly rough enough for that to be a possibility. That being said, if these are some sort of folded cardboard, I'd be happier with that than a plastic bag. Neither has the appeal of a canister, but at least cardboard can be recycled. I don't think the Kool-Aid pouches can.

I don't see any white on Pohatu; to me, that is quite unmistakably, unquestionably silver. There's also no gold on Lewa (those shells are almost certainly Keetorange) and Gali only has a single golden spear. Only the larger three make gratuitous use of gold.

That's an odd conclusion to jump to. Packaging art doesn't necessarily reflect anything about the story's setting (such as all the interesting things in the backgrounds of the Glatorian canisters) and even if such an obelisk is in the story, that doesn't preclude it being Le-Wahi. Le-Wahi as we know it doesn't have an obelisk, yes, but then again Lewa as we know him doesn't have vents all around his mask. And Gali as we know her doesn't look like a snarling monster.

How? Sure. it covers the mouth area, and there's a slight depression that could be the injection area, but there's no conclusive evidence there to prove how the masks attach. All we can say for sure is that they definitely don't attach by the top.

His arm probably swings like the usual Toa Mata back in the day, but throwing the boomerang is out of the question; that would involve giving them a connection point so weak they could slip out of his hands. More likely, he whacks his opponents with the edge of his boomerang instead.

odd to see you use the phrase "attach like masks" after your post on the phrase a while back :P looking at how the masks connect, I'm pretty sure these masks will be backwards compatible with heads from the Metru on at least, unless they're smaller than I'm giving them credit for. I hope so, in case the new head doesn't suit my preferences.

Impossible. That would require these masks attach by the top, and most of them physically cannot.

Not sure where you're getting that; Ice Protector almost certainly uses the XT4 torso.

the biggest disappointment with Pohatu is that he doesn't come with a rock 0/10 i'm boycotting

Almost all the Ninjago sets have their piece counts set as 442 for some reason, which is odd. However, the Bionicle sets all have different piece counts listed (Pohatu's is only shared by the Water Protector), which suggests these are probably their actual piece counts, or at least were at some point in their design. I suppose it's possible Pohatu alone had an error, but not probable. It seems a bit small, but remember that the Protectors have their piece counts inflated by the ammunition for their weapons. There's still the possibility it's an error, but it's also not as improbable as you might think that it's his final count.

Not unless it's a feature of the heads themselves; there's no possible way for the skull spiders piece to have glowing eyes itself because it doesn't have eyes, not even in the little skull spiders in the sets. If it does work as a button, my only guess as to what it could possibly to is that pressing it pushes it off of the face if it's put there, as a play feature like the original masks had. That would require a weak face connection, though, and I'm pretty sure the days of those are over. The CGI is a little rough, but I'd say it's pretty likely these are pretty much final. The more finalized images on the wobbler are exactly the same save changes to the skull spiders, and their package art is pretty much final. That's not to say I'm certain there won't be changes, but I highly doubt it. Also, not all of the CGI is rough enough to seem very flexible; Lewa, Tahu, and Protector of Fire have final-quality package art, save for the skull spiders and top banner, which look kind of slapped on.

The latter point is moot in a reboot, but the former is more or less my thinking. It doesn't make sense to take the term "Kraata" and slap it to something almost completely different and intend it to be the same thing.

I can't quite tell what color Onua's upper leg bone is. It looks too purple to be grey, too grey to be purple, too dark to be lavender, and too solid to be translucent. It's a conundrum.

I can't see anything that distinguishes the backs of Kopaka and Tahu from the smaller three, though their backs are hard to see. They have some back armor, but otherwise I'd put my money on them having more or less the same function. Since Onua has two wheels on his back, I'd assume his arms both swing, independently of each other. An odd decision since he only has one hammer, but at least his arm swinging doesn't seem to be interdependent.

The actual word is Protector, I believe. Also I'm not sure what to make of the obelisk in the background of Lewa's package art, but it sure looks cool.

I suppose, but it still seems highly unlikely to me that this would be a Kraata.

I don't think "Krata" means this is a Kraata. Even if it is the final name, I should think they would have caught a misspelling like that if they truly mean the same Kraata. I can't think of any typos that made it into the final products before, and there's no point in changing the spelling.

It stretches believability that something as important as the weapon would still be a placeholder when everything else in the wobbler image is pretty final. it would be like if Tahu's image had him wearing Furno's helmet as a placeholder. Also, it seems ludicrous that Pohatu has fewer pieces than his Protector, and it is, but not as ludicrous as you think if you take into account that the Protector's piece counts are inflated by the ammo for the weapons. Even if they don't have spares, it gives each of them six extra pieces. And they are most likely going to have spares.

That doesn't necessarily mean "gone forever"; the Kopaka sword wasn't used since 2004, then reappeared in 2010, six years later. meanwhile, the Guurahk staffs were last used in 2010 (not 2009), five years ago. They could bring it back if they wanted to. Besides discrepancies with the skull spiders, these are pretty much exactly what we can see on the wobbler, which has more finalized images. (If you look, the Guurahk staffs are actually visible there if you're looking for it.) I'd say we can count on their return.

There's no evidence of that piece being in any color but those flame colors, though. Not to mention the lines between system and technic have blurred over the years; the idea of a technic-compatible piece being introduced in a system line isn't unthinkable (plus if we see new ultrabuilds they could well use them.) Plus I'd assume these pictures all came from the same source; any one of them is probably as final as the other. And they aren't the only toa without a unique weapon piece; Tahu doesn't have a unique weapon piece, as he shares his board swords with Kopaka, and his other swords are bland-old Breakout blades. I'm fine with the return of the Guurahk staff if the days of personalized elemental weapons are truly gone; it's nice to have at least one classic piece there.

I think where he's going with that is that old mask molds are unlikely to make a return; if they were, I can see little reason to make an altered hau instead of using the more faithful Stars Hau. Therefore, the Ignika in question is likely a placeholder if it's going to make a return in the sets, as it would likely have a new mold (like, say, a more tribal-looking design rather than a detail-covered aerodynamic design)

The fact that his face is printing on a torso plate to begin with makes it hard to take him seriously anyway.

Oh, also, the eyes printed on LOSS's doofy face mostly match up with the eyes in the background on the wobbler; this (fortunately) diminishes the chances of those eyes being Makuta's.

Not quite; a majority of the skull spiders in the display stand seem to have a new piece for the legs, a slightly more segmented piece. All of these pictures feature the Savage Planet claws instead. It could be an artifact of the blurry image making me think they're a new piece, but it's fairly consistent save for a few, Lewa most clearly not using the new piece..

Ah, I see. Interesting. If that's the case, though, that means either the Earth protector doesn't have face detail, or the new head will have two face details, which would look pretty odd. It also makes me wonder if we will, in fact, see translucent eyes, or if we're going with Mctoran-style heads.
