  1. yep she brought a table. She finished olivanders and that was about it. This is her first big lego set to build, I think she is hooked now :) just like me.
  2. I bought my girlfriend the Diagon Alley set a few months ago and she has not built it yet, done a little bit here and there but no serious building. So tonight she is waiting in line for the midnight premire of the 7th harry potter movie and guess what she decided to do... legobuilding hp by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Yes build Diagon alley while waiting in line. I dont know, should I be scared or proud lol. Yes she is a keeper :)
  3. Ahoy everyone, I have been loving looking at everyones Mocs here in the pirates section, some of these ships especially are amazing. I have always wanted a lego ship, I have never built one at all, ever. Which ship would you recommend would be a good first entry into the pirate theme? I was thinking either queen annes revenge or the imperial flagship. I am looking for one that I can later rebuild to work on my own. Also one that would show me a lot of the common techniques in building a ship. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
  4. I built this set only knowing that it was a pet shop. I glanced front box a couple of times, when purchasing the set online, tried to avoid looking at it as much as possible. I wanted the build to be a surprise while I was building it. I also did not look at any of the press release pictures. I have to say I am amazed by this set and there were some great suprises in the build. What really impressed me was the basement, the painting scene was also amazing. The parrots were very very cool also. I have only built grand emporium and pet shop of the modulars but I have looked at the pictures of the other sets and reviews of them as well. In my opinion the pet shop is one of the best sets with all of the details the design. I have some ideas to improve the interior a little on both buildings, but where they are now is great. I can't wait to se the next set, and plan to build it the same way I did this set, with as little as information as possible. It really added to the build experience.
  5. Thanks a lot everyone for the comments, and yes I do agree that there is a lot of green there. In the area that has nothing in it that is supposed to be a down town area, I have the fire brigade still in the box waiting to be built to go in there, as well as the new police station which will help with that green area. The pet shop will go there also, it basically was planned from the beginning to not be built up right now but as time and funds allow built up over time. As for the harbor area, I am not planning a big fancy harbor area maybe a simple pier or dock. It was just for a place I could have the boats. I will keep you all updated as time goes on with changes to the city, I am looking forward to seeing it all come together!!
  6. Hey everyone, After coming out of my dark ages and seeing all the great citys and and towns, and always wanting to build one I finally have the space and resources available to do that. Here is a few pictures of what I have so far, it mostly is lego sets along with a few in progress mocs. I will post more details on the Mocs later on when I finish them. I built the tables the city is sitting on myself, and it was my first wood working project so it is not perfect but I am happy with it, and it was great doing it myself. Anyways on to the pictures: Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr on the above picture yes I know there are a ton of mini figs lying there and the tram is not totally on the track, I am working on motorizing it and having some troulbes, I have seen a few suggestions around but if anyone has any good ideas on how to make it work it would be greatly appreciated. Untitled by fluffybunny88, on Flickr So there it is so far. I am constantly working on something and will post more updates as they come along. I have been very much inspired by everyones great work here and wanted to share some of mine with you all as well. My Mocing at the moment is focusing on train cars and a mobile police command center, so no big major buildings yet. I do have a train station planned and a few other things that I am thinking about. Can't wait to get the built and share them with you all.
  7. just closer to the roof, wanted to get better detail on how you did it, a little higher than the first one, a close shot from the angle that the big overhead overview is at would be perfect. thanks!!
  8. I love your passenger cars, they are great. As for the lack of doors I think it looks better with the full windows you have, perhaps you could make one of the windows into a opening door, Is there anyway you can get a more close up picture of the roof? Great work again!!
  9. Didnt see this anywhere else, but there are new train parts on shop at home at least on the USA store, under the train accessories page, the AAA battery box part 88000 and power function train motor 88002, very helpful for those getting the maersk train and emerald night, especially that AAA battery box http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Leaf.aspx?cn=87&d=328
  10. This is amazing. I am just speachless with all of the details and work that went into this. The story is fantastic as well. Great work!! Would love to see more adventures at the airport.
  11. I'm not so familiar with the Aussie style but the gas station looks great so far. Cant wait to see what you do with the interior of the shop and stocking products. Great job so far!!
  12. great work, I see these barns all the time where I live, captured very well. At first look it was a little tall I thought, but after reading that you wanted to fit vehicles and things in I understand why it had to be so tall. Great work!!
  13. I love this station, it is great. I also can't wait to see what the interiror looks like, with the way the exteriror and layout is so far it will look great im sure. I will be following this and cant wait to see what comes next. How many emerald night coaches do you think will fit at the loading part of the station? Looks like maybe about 2 or 3. Is that right? Just kind of thinking about my stations in the future.
  14. Love the night shots, really brings this MOC to life. The faces and action in the moc were very well thought out and designed, great job. I love the car also really captures that older car feel.
  15. Very good MOC, I love the lights, is that the lego lights or LED's that you built into it? I like the idea of the town houses built over the shops, very big city like. I also like the kind of walk through area between the buildings, I would maybe add a couple of plants though, but it looks good the way it is also.
  16. This is great, I love all the little details in the museum and the great clutter on the street. Great work!!
  17. great looking city brickviller, I really like the train station and all the details in the police station. Great job!
  18. great info on the new police sets, I agree with others that a hospital would be great. I have a great fire department in my city, but no police at all so this year would be good for me. Cant wait to see some pictures of these new sets come out.
  19. Hey everyone, Just joined and out of my dark ages so I got a few different sets from TRU to get back into it and was never really into technic, but after seeing some of these power functions I thought I just had to have one. The reason I got this set is because it was one of the cheapest with power functions that I saw at TRU but come to find out its a brand new set and that there are not a lot of pictures, or reviews, or thoughts on it out there. In the process of building my set I took a few pics and videos outlining different parts I thought were cool on this set, so lets get started. Here are the parts all layed out organized and ready to go. 686 pieces. I had the case with the compartments for little pieces so if the table got moved or knocked they didnt go flying everywhere. It was my first time doing that and it worked out well. The next few are some of the main structure along with the mechanism to switch between what I call dump mode, and unload mode. Dump mode is when the container just gets lifted up in place like a dump truck, and the unload mode is when the container is moved off the back of the truck down onto the ground. the yellow piece you see in this picture also shows the steering mechanism for the front wheels. They are not on power just manually with a gear on top of the cab. This shows the platform in unload mode and in dump mode The mode is selected by a switch with the red handle somewhat out of focus on the left hand side of the pictures above. The following pictures are of the truck in its various modes in action and showing some of the guts of it as well. dump mode dump mode 2 unload mode unload mode 2 the main lifting arm Here are links to youtube videos of the two modes: Unload Mode: Dump Mode: The set was a lot of fun to build, took me a few hours as I was not paying 100% attention to the build all the time and was enjoying it and trying to figure out reasons for doing some of the things I was doing. This was a good start into the technic theme for me and I enjoyed it a lot. The different unload and dump modes are great and a fairly simple mechanism makes that all work. Overall very good model, would have liked to see the whole thing RCed and moves and drives but that would have brought the cost up a lot. For getting started with technic and power functions this is imo a great build and buy. Hoped you liked this little overview/review of the 8052 Container truck and let me know what you think of my review, and if you have any other questions.
  20. No no MOCs at the moment I am learning that in the few years of my dark ages there has been some changes in the way models are built so going through a few sets to get some ideas then I plan to do some MOCs, I like the town and city stuff so probably something like that, and eventually into the trains. Thanks everyone for the great welcome!!
  21. Hello everyone!! Just thought I would introduce myself since I have been lurking here on this forum for a couple of weeks now, I am fluffybunny a 22 year old from the USA and just coming out of my dark ages!! I have gotten 5 sets over the last 6 months, then now recently, within the last 2 weeks doubled those 5 new sets. I am not focusing on any sets at the moment, although it seems I have mostly city and airport sets at the moment, but did just get my first technic with the power functions, those are brand new to me and Im hoping to learn more about them. Hope to get to know yall better in the near future!!
