Boat propeller as oscillating fan? Fan of the fans in this set. -

It looks like unikitty tail only on very front, inverted slopes on rest of 3 floor roof. That's odd. -

I'll probably nitpick far down the road, like the fire brigade's 'L' swctions bordering the rollup door that are so flimsy and unsquareable, but why? Place looks great. That box cover is eye catching! The balance between the architecture and the folks running around in the scene is fabulous. Only the PC has as much front of box appeal. This is going to look SO good on the 'street'!! Can't wait to see the inside...and how the floors seperate! Onward to pricing details! -
Would like to know what you consider the best inventory system and why? Have been collecting LEGO for ~1yr and have a bunch of sets and now just a few extra parts and would like to inventory. From what I can see brickset/rebrickable are the places where folks have an inventory. I'm currently adding sets into rebrickable and can see the draw to its functionality, "can I build this". Apparently I can designate certain official sets (and MOCs should I take the time to upload an inventory for one...) to exempt parts from my collections list of currently available parts for building. I don't know how to tell LDD or a similar program that I've only got certain elements...so I couldn't speak to the usefulness of inventory for virtual building. But I CAN quite easily see how I could either LDD my own MOC or somehow access a parts list for a set/MOC I don't own and use the inventory solution to tell me what's missing so that I can buy it. Duh, I'm sure. :) Hoping you can help me sort out the pros/cons and available features of each method so I can pick one/several! My immediate problem with rebrickable is that while I only have a few hundred parts not easily associated with a set...I've got a bunch of incomplete sets. So I can add an Atlantis theme set to my list, but it's missing a handful of pieces. I really don't want it to be 98% accurate...how do I add the set but subtract the missing pieces? Same with a ton of LotR sets, got them w/o minifigs. I don't expect this inaccuracy to impact my ability to calculate and subsequently order missing parts for MOCs when it's the bricks/slopes/arches/etc that interest me but STILL - would like to avoid inaccuracy! Solutions very much welcomed.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The market research portion of the process is pretty well invalidated if a Starbucks shop generates 10,000 support but LEGO needs to make it generic. Would the generic have gotten the votes? They don't know and neither do we... -
Can you remove most of the trailer axels? Looks quite weird compared to real world trucks if that matters to ya! You know what I do see on the road all the time? Train wheels. Must be some kind of foundry around here because they're always shipping these modified flatbeds with long rows of wheels already pressed on the axle. Very cool looking and pretty doable in lego.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I started up last thanksgiving - but didn't get a modular until a few weeks ago. Kept telling myself the same thing as you. Pooh pooh! If I need fire service themed stuff...those sets come out ALL the time (making any of them very "uncool" in my opinion). BUT after building the GE, realizing that I SHOULD jump on a TH it dawned on me. Fire is neat. That building is cool. MORE buildings is better. Makes the whole thing cooler. I am chasing one down. So I did. Going to start on step 7 Of couse now I can really complain about city fie sets - right? :) See, clearly I wasn't their target audience anyway. -

A train is as long as 4 buildings. The engine, as long as one. What do you picture with this set? I can imagine a 2,200 piece train station, and a 32 stud facade reminiscent of a European city terminus. What I can't imagine is a neat - at modular scale - building with the functionality to house the train. The subway entrance thought is cool, but a bit of a tease don't you think? -
Cool building. It's so big it's absurd - as far as LEGO ideas website goes, it's just an ego stroke. They're not going to publish your set. Let's get a stop motion going, this could be way fun!

So the model wings don't have to be extended? Because they're 3 studs offset in this photo vs the movie version. Otherwise the yellow missile, hoses, and the erroneously applied wing tips are the only discrepancies. And I think the 2 at issue are merely a matter a the build in the movie not having been completed when this screen grab was taken.

Engine lights, lose one length of gray round bricks on the weapons. Wonderful ship. It's super awesome. I love the hulking heavy shouldered look of this musk ox.

Just put in this URL and substitute the 4 digit # shown in the previous post by vriverajr3 on the last page. Uneven sharing of information isn't cool... http://s407.photobuc...g_XXXX.jpg.html *edit, and I should add that those are some ridiculously bad photos. Not only are they out of focus, but they show a tiny portion of the set. It's like zooming in on 3189 and showing you a fuzzed out photo of the white picket fence section. Boy howdy, bet you're excited about that stable now!

The Shopping Center has the potential to be SO AWESOME! I'm actually a little worried it mayn't live up to the hype I'm making in my head. The very words in the set title are dizzying. I mean, friends buildings don't have roofs right? Any the coolest and most architecturally interesting 'shopping centers' here in the real world would almost all have to be open air affairs, right? What I picture for this set is an L shaped construction, with a shop or shops on both arms and something interesting in the middle. Maybe a small eating court? But what makes it AWESOME is that it's got a second level. This arms of the L on the second level are shorter than those on the first so there's the opportunity for some roofline embelishment. The upper level is accessed by an ESCALATOR, and if the proportions of the set are suitably sprawling then - in the remaining space in the void at the center of the L layout - there's a nice courtyard fountain. Ideal shops - nail/hair shop, clothing store, book/coffee shop [i'm sure young girls see this as sophistocated even if they can't drink coffee yet...], a tech center. And toncontinue capturing the entire age bracket, I think that teens need to be diversified. At least a little. We need some "baby/kid" sisters or brothers for this crew. Hopefully eventually we get a few more guys; another dad would be best. He could be their soccer coach... I'll probably like the set no matter what. The concept is excellent. But I really HOPE it's a two level approach w/escalator - fountain - and chic choice of shops.
