I picked up the An Unexpected Gathering set at a Fred Meyers here in Portland on Thursday. Over on Rebelscum, a user in Seattle reported finding the other three sets, but I haven't seen them here yet.

You may find it amusing to learn that at a Geek Trivia night I attended at a local theater pub here in Portland, Oregon last night, the first question displayed a picture of your MOC, the question being, "What battle took place here?" (Yes, the first questions are usually extremely easy.) I have no idea how they found your picture, but I was pretty excited... and my team went on to win 1st Place!

Review: LotR 9469 Gandalf Arrives
vlai23 replied to Captain BeerBeard's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I bought this set today at Fred Meyers and immediately started playing with the great new horse. I took a couple pictures of the horse rearing with the barding on for my own use and thought I may as well post them up here too. In my opinion, it looks great in the front and okay in the back. As you can see, the rear left leg does push the barding out and honestly has left a bit of a stress mark at the top (but I personally am not too particular). Hope this helps. -
I just found the Gandalf Arrives, Uruk-Hai Army, and Shelob Attack sets at Fred Meyer here in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

I agree about not finding the idea of a fire station too exciting, but loved the design of the model itself so much that I had to pick it up. Anyway, since old buildings often find new inhabitants over the decades, I modded mine so that it now houses a hot dog/sausage stand ("The Fire Dog" ) on the right side and a doctor's office on the left & upstairs. I removed the garage door and walled up the inside so the two sides are completely separate from each other, and the driveway is an open passage into the rear courtyard, with a right-side door into the small sausage stand. I built a kiosk window where customers order ("No Seating Available") into the front right side, with steps up to the window mirroring those on the left. The left side is the doctor's waiting room, with the examination room upstairs. I think I moved some of the built-in cabinets around, replaced the furnishings with medical equipment, removed the fireman's pole, and closed up the hole. Also, near the stairs and behind a curtain is the doctor's desk. Maybe I ought to take pics for a new thread. edit: here's a quick picture I took a while back while messing around with a new camera:

I just got my shipping notice email tonight, but according to the tracking link, the package itself was processed and sent out on May 4, so it seems like the email notification system is just lagging behind the actual shipments.

Hello. I've been wanting to try an MOC of this scene from the beginning of ROTJ for a while, and a few weeks ago I was at a record show and picked up the soundtrack on a nice gatefold LP. I was surprised and excited to see that the back of the sleeve depicted the exact scene I had in mind. Pure serendipity. Particularly inspired today by the marvel of TC-14, I finally got to work. This is my first attempt at any kind of forced perspective MOC/photography. I hope you like it.
-
Thanks for the pic. I like this guy much more than the larger molded Hulk. I think it'll come with any & all $50 purchases, not just Super Heroes, as the TC-14 one specifies a "$75 LEGO Star Wars purchase", whereas this only says "$50 purchase."

I've only found these at my local store once (last Fall) and bought 3 out of the 4 bags they had. They seemed to be at least partly comprised of broken-down display models because there were still certain bricks stuck together. It definitely looked like someone had purposefully sought to spread out the 'good parts' among the bags. I remember specifically there were a lot of pieces from the Imperial Flagship and Diagon Alley in the bags, even some of the larger ship pieces. Also, happily, I think there was enough to piece together a couple Redcoats, and less happily, a Hagrid body piece (I'm not an HP fan). I haven't seen any grab bags at the store since, unfortunately. Really the greatest deal in the store.

I was really disappointed with C-3PO's eye printing on mine. The print is clearly below the molded 'eye socket' part of the head and covers the top of his cheeks, so it looks like he's looking up. I sent in an online request for a replacement head based on this yesterday. Has anyone tried this yet? I got the normal autoreply today. Every other part of this set is great though, especially the Sandtroopers. Edit: As an update, I did receive an email back, just requesting a proof of purchase number & they will send me a replacement head. Once again, TLG's customer service is wonderful.

I guess I chose the wrong word. I didn't mean "unique" in the precise sense of "only available in this set", but as you say, something that isn't as commonplace as the six-shooters. I'm glad he comes with a weird gun and not a reality-based one.
-
I disagree; I'm definitely looking forward to equipping him with the most ridiculously large sci-fi-ish rifle I can come up with, in true Rob Liefeld/90s-era Marvel fashion. ;) I'm glad that LEGO gave him something unique & imaginative, rather than a boring gun mold we already have.

I'm bummed because I was hoping to pick this sucker up on my birthday... February 28.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments & votes. My favorite entry was Holodoc's with the bike. That really made me laugh. This was my first time entering a contest...I was definitely struck by madness! I'm looking forward to more in the future. I just need to work on my camera white levels in the meanwhile.

Greetings, long-time lurker; infrequent poster. But I had an idea for this contest so here it is: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad." It's MADNESS at the MAD TEA PARTY with the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse, Alice & the Maersk Hare! I hope you enjoy it.

I just bought this set and the LEGO Store & was surprised to find the instructions in a plastic bag with cardboard backing.

I finally just figured this out for myself, too. :) Thank you for your help!

The title pretty much says it all. I am in the need of 8 baseball bats from the Series 3 Baseball Player Minifigure & 12 of the silver-balled microphones from the S3 Pop Singer. I need these accessories on, and Bricklink doesn't seem to have them for sale without the minifigs. Please PM me if you have any available. Thank you! edit: paypal or trade for other (complete, sealed) minifigs, including Spartans.

Took a few pics as part of a promo for an event tomorrow. Unfortunately I don't have a very good camera. [[[bASSWARS]]] DEATH STAR RAVE DARK LORD OF THE DECKS BOBA FETT V.I.P. A few more up at brickshelf, once public. Hope you enjoy!

REVIEW: Ninjago 30083: Dragon Fight
vlai23 replied to pombe's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Phoenix... that makes more sense if you display it upright: (the orange horn is its beak) compare: -
Thanks for the comments, all. I agree that the trans-cones aren't ideal, but that's what I had to work with at the moment.

Greetings, Eurobrickers! I am a novice MOCer & here is a little model I made of a modest village church in a Romanesque style. These pictures are also the first time I have tried using three-point lighting and a shadowbox. (Thank you to Hinckley & the rest of the posters in this LEGO Photography tutorial thread.) I unfortunately do not have a fancy SLR camera, but am happy with how most of the photos turned out. Please feel free to comment about both the MOC & photography. Thank you for looking! All these new Kingdoms sets indeed look fantastic, and I am excited to pick them all up. However, I find it a bit strange that the Dragons now have a second prison, but still no castle! Hopefully that means they're saving it for 2012!

Mine is sitting on my mantle, next to my Winter Village scene, eagerly counting down the last few days, waiting to be opened! (I practically need an Advent calendar to the Advent calendar! :D) One thing I haven't decided yet is whether I will punch open the individual windows every day, or just slide the tray out the side of the box. It kind of pains me to mar the great art and since I already know what's behind each window, it doesn't really matter if I'll see the next days'/weeks' sets every day. Any thoughts?
