On a trip this weekend from Canada to Rochester, NY. Hoping to find the 9398 set at the Lego store or possibly at Toys R Us. Anybody have any sightings of the 9398 set in or around Rochester or Buffalo, NY? Thanks. BManCan

I sent an email to Mindsensors to try and understand the difference between the v3 and v4 NXTCam sensors? Here is the response in case you were also wondering: "We are continually improving our products, and this is one of the results of that effort. Physically, NXTCam-v4 uses better materials, it has better form factor and improved appearance. Internally it is designed for simplified and more efficient manufacturing. There is no change at the API interface and all the existing software and libraries are compatible between v3 and v4 model" BManCan Any interest in selling your NXTCam v3? BManCan

I have been considering buying the NXTCam sensor for quite a while now, but it does seem to be fairly complicated (and expensive). Any idea what is the difference between the v3 and v4 cams? BManCan

Yes that is the Robolab website. The version 2.9 standalone software can be purchased from Lego Education for a reasonable price: http://www.legoeducation.us/eng/product/robolab_2_9_single_copy_/1273 If you already have the newest version of Labview (Labview for Education or Labview for Lego Mindstorms), then you can download and install the Robolab addon libraries (at the website you listed).

There are several official options available for programming the 9751 control lab interface. Already mentioned: 1. Lego Engineer which is essentially a custom library that requires Robolab or Labview installation. Other options: 2. Original Lego TC Logo software: programming in LOGO which is a text based programming language 3. Updated Windows Control Lab software: same as above but Windows based. 4. Robolab software: graphical programming language and I believe that version 2.5 and newer supports the control lab interface. I have several 9701 sets along with the control lab interface, and went through the same software search as you currently are. I have used all of the above software and would recommend the Robolab software option. BManCan

You can install the rechargeable battery into the NXT brick and have it plugged into the charger at the same time. This allows your NXT creations to run indefinitely.

First off I have to say that the 9701 Control Lab set is one of my all time favorite sets. I have several of these kits along with the original Control Lab interfaces that have 8 inputs and 8 outputs. If you are trying to program the greenhouse with NXT-G you could start with something like this: It basically has switch block based on the temperature sensor reading. If the temperature goes above the setpoint, then the motor runs forward until the roatation sensors reaches some number of turns. (open greenhouse) If the temperature drops below the setpoint, then the motor runs reverse until the roatation sensors returns to zero. (close greenhouse) BManCan

Correct...the price is now GBP190 instead of GBP19,000 ...still kinda pricey though.

The month of May 2010 was very good to me as I managed to pickup several remarkable Lego finds. 1. I was one of the fortunate Canadian Lego Shop at Home buyers that was able to purchase 2 of the 10195 Republic Dropships with AT-OT Walker at a 75% discount due to a pricing error. The sale price was C$87.50 each while the regular price is C$349.99 each. These are going to make excellent birthday gifts for my son and also my nephew. 2. Found a 3450 Statue of Liberty set essentially new in box on kijiji for only C$75 3. Also picked up a Lego Mindstorms NXT 1.0 kit on kijiji for C$100

I agree that the CLIs are getting more difficult to find but they do show up on E$Bay and Bricklink from time to time. I somehow managed to put together a collection of 9 CLIs and also 5 sets of the 9701 Control Lab Building set (it is a classic). Your photo showing the CLI connected to a microcontroller is very interesting. Do you have an electronics background? BManCan

I have several of the Control Lab Interfaces that I use with the 9701 Control Lab Building kits. There are many different software options available depending on what you are hoping to accomplish: 1. Original Control Lab TC LOGO software (DOS based) 2. Windows Control Lab (same as above but works in Win95/WinXP) 3. Robolab 4. ActiveX Controls More recently I came across a Lugnet member that was working on a VB.NET interface for the CLI. See the link below. I did some testing with it and found it to be quite repsonsive. Another nice feature was the ability to connect several CLIs to a single computer and access them directly from a single VB program (imagine the possibilites). 5.
