I'm really intrigued by the Venice Chase set; sounds like something I'll end up getting. It should prove to be a set with all unique figures with new pieces, like the fez hat as was mentioned previously. New Indy outfits have me excited!

The three most memorable moments in a video game for you
Privateer replied to AgentRick's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I would encourage you to revisit Myst and give it another try. Just let yourself get lost in the world; it's really a rewarding experience. The Myst series of games is not like other typical games that can be won in a just a few days. It requires great investments of your time and attention. At first, exploration is the most important part of the game. As you do so, things will slowly become clearer and make more sense. It's also best to avoid online cheats and walk-throughs; while they can relieve some frustration, they can also ruin the experience. So I say, give it another shot! -
The three most memorable moments in a video game for you

In Riven: The Sequel to Myst, the two most memorable parts were when I finally reached Tay, the Rebel Age, and then when you get the fire marbles in the correct positions, and it works. The sense of accomplishment and anticipation of what is to come is very exciting. -
There are a lot of good ideas in this thread; many that are better than the ideas in the prequels. Sinner, I liked reading your conception of how the prequels could have played out. An army of Mandalorians would have been quite a spectacle to behold. Also, I think that Episode III needed to have Vader actually hunting down and killing Jedi. After all the teasing, what we got was admittedly a very dark and atmospheric transformation scene that was ruined with melodrama. Disappointing. While I have never read any of the novelizations of the movies, I did know about Obi-Wan supposedly being Owen's brother and Anakin's infamous lava demise. What's interesting is that I once read a disillusioned fan's description of how he envisioned the Jedi while they serving the Republic. He saw them as wearing armor, since they undoubtedly faced danger in guarding the galaxy. When he saw Episode I, he was disappointed that they just wore clothing similar to what Obi-Wan wore while he was in hiding on Tatooine. Not impressive for 1,000+ year old order. For me personally, I think the prequels failed in capturing the old spirit in the visuals of the original trilogy. George really messed up with the story, but also with the "feel" of the movies. It just wasn't the same. We can only wonder how they might have turned out in more capable and reverent hands...

Bummer. I have been looking forward to this since we first caught wind of it earlier this year. It's been years since I've gotten an advent calendar, but the Castle one looked like a must-have. I hope that LEGO hears our collective cries and realizes the error of this decision. Maybe there is still some way that we'll eventually be able to get a hold of these without markup prices on the second market...

It's definitely good to see how the new Pirates line is shaping up. The balance between old and new elements seems to be about right, and I love the new pieces. The spyglass especially is a part that is long overdue for Pirates. This is yet another line with sets I just have to get. One thing I would love to see, though, is a green parrot with markings like the old scarlet macaw. However, LEGO doesn't seem too keen on much printing lately, so it will have to remain wishful thinking for now.

Civil War Diorama: "Battle of the Randomness"
Privateer replied to Brickadier General's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I too am in awe of this spectacular diorama. All of the little details scattered throughout make this a moment captured in time. I really like the choice of some of the heads of the figures, especially General Lee. Also, the various tree designs give the location a natural look that is hard to do with LEGO. Great job overall; thanks for sharing this with us! -
Official Speed Racer Licensed Product in 2008

Unfortunately, it appears that this is yet another instance of a good prototype that for some bizarre reason LEGO decided to change. If you look at a reference picture of the character, the actual minifigure's torso design resembles it less than the prototype did. Yes, I was disappointed about that too. -
I didn't vote for either one. I usually call the colour 'reddish brown,' but if I was forced to give it a nickname, I've always thought that 'bred' was pretty good.

Haha, I must say, the most amusing part of this thread is reading your posts, oo7. :-D

LOL, good one Steve! X-D Anyway, I had to go with the Cloud City Leia. Simply elegant!

Well, I went with the Green Ninja Princess. Tree-hugging katana-wielding masked princesses are good in my book. *y*

POTC 3 - From a Pirate LEGO Fanatics Perspective

The Endeavour flagship would make for one sweet model in LEGO. The beauty of it took my breath away when I saw it, and *SPOILER*it was awesome to see it blown to smithereens! *sweet* -
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Privateer replied to DoubleT's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I thought it was crap. I was even more disappointed with this movie than I was for Dead Man's Chest. I was willing to forget the second movie's shortcomings if the third made up for it, but alas, it did not. As I watched, the movie kept on getting more and more ridiculous. And I was so looking forward to this film! If you had told me before I watched it, I would not have believed that it would be so bad. I am going to pretend that the first movie was the only one made, and I won't be getting At World's End when it comes to DVD. There was just so much missed potential with this. Definite disappointment. *n* -
Very neat; LEGO Pirates now has its own site again! What I would like to see is postings of pirate MOCs on the front page like Classic-Castle does. And as others have said, great job on the layout, interface, and graphics!

These sets look just awesome. I don't know if I'll get the bigger ones, but I will definitely be getting a few multiples of the smaller sets. Also, I'm going to get that maiden somehow, even if I have to go through Bricklink to get her. This is the best castle line in years; thank you LEGO!

Very nice structure. The photography angle really make it look imposing and majestic. The tan and dark grey colour scheme also is very good.

I kind of like the green colour of it. I think it makes it stand out and gives it some character. It only needs some sails to finish it off.

This is really nice. I think my favorite detail is the boat; it just captures the look very well.
